Stop listening to ClearChannel, which has gobbled up all the radio stations in the country and is in cahoots with MTV and the big record labels to force feed you disposable teen pop and American Idol quality crap.

The successor bands to what you remember are all on indie labels and are blasted all day long on satellite and internet radio. Try Sirius channel 26. It'll take a couple of weeks to get up to speed, but the music is just as strong as ever, possibly even better. And very diverse.

I miss the 4 or so years I spent backpacking round Europe. Lots of meeting great people in great setting, drinking lots and hooking up, having everything I owned fit into my backpack.

I joined the army and then got married (for the first time) in the early 90s, so I missed out on most of the fun stuff from that decade. :p

Hey thanks for the tip man. I have a car equipped with XM (surely a similar station is available?) on the way and one thing I've found from listening to my friends is that even if you can't find good current day music you can at least find some nice genre specific channels.

I'm definitely on the look out for NEW stuff however so I will definitely be scouring the indy channels.

i miss the good ol tv show from the 90's ... All That, Are you afraid of the dark, wild n crazy kids, hey dude, hang time, City Guys, pete and pete. and many other shows. Lot of today show are ok but most of them just plain suck. nothing like the 90's show that had quality to them.

I wish Nickelodeon would come out with a channel that would have all 80's and 90's classic nickelodeon shows on it. The good ol snick days, gotta miss it.

Now that I think of it, pretty much everything on TV was awesome. Now we have cartoons that suck and reality shows.
