I didn't really learn it from a video game but for video game forums. I have a very good understanding of what fanboys are.

If you jump from an incredible height, you will die upon impact. If, by some chance, you land in water, no matter how shallow, you will live and take zero damage.

BF2? :)

I've learned that you can take 5 bullets to the chest, and then proceed to run a 7 minute mile in full gear, up hill.

Bandages can fix any wound.

Hostages can take a bullet to the head and live, but terrorists can not.

Support personnel carry around ammo for every type of gun every invented, including tank and airplane ammo.

The standard soldier (who oddly enough carries around a parachute) can repack his parachute and use it again in under 2 seconds.

Trees are indestructable.

Water is extremely flammable and you should never drive into it, as it will cause your vehicle to catch fire and explode.

A Magnum sniper rifle can fire through three skulls and still leave a hole in the wall behind said skulls.

One slash from a knife can shatter an entire glass window.

Hostages stand neatly in corners, even when no terrorists are around.

Apparrently, hostages give you cash if you offer to rescue them.

Trees > Planes. Touching 1 leaf = crashage!

That if I run around a forest and kill the same easily defeated creature a million times, I will suddenly have enough knowledge and experience to beat an incredibly tough boss.

No, you can't climb through a window or over a fence using the one leg over, then the rest of you method. If you can't crawl through or just jump over, it isn't going to happen. Find the key, open the door.

It's the only way.

You can't break open a door, no matter how flimsy. If you can get to a door before it closes, you might hook up with Max from "Sam and Max", who will then decimate everything in his path. (An easter egg in Dark Forces: Jedi Knight).

Max Payne is addicted to pain killers, and fights an army of clones which only have about 10 different versions.

High explosives and rockets don't ever open doors. Ever.

Maybe you need a key, but better yet, you may never be able to open the door. Ever.

Not even with a crowbar or lock picking tools.

No hands are required to use ladders. You can even balance on the ladder, turn around, shoot at things, and still descend safely.

Just because you can see over something doesn't mean you can climb on top off it. As mentioned in the previous line, your arms are useless. Maybe you are too busy juggling all 12 of your guns and grenades all at once.

Normally you never speak or swear or even scream, even when being blown apart, swarmed by enemies, or asked direct questions. Silence is key.

Not always.

Play Deus Ex.

And Fallout, though I don't think it worked on all of the doors. Still useful for lockers if you had a particuarly bad lockpicking skill.

You said "Ever." not "Sometimes." Besides, it does open most doors anyways. The only ones I can remember that couldn't be opened were large steel-reinforced doors, the door to Jock's apartment, and the doors in UNATCO.
