No basement, 'crawlspace' is about the width of a 2x4.

In my case I'm actually okay, the line runs through conduit so someone can get creative with a chaser line. It was more a dig at Mr Smarmy up there.
Thank you, milk weed.

If you are too damned stupid/ignorant/unable to visualize any way to get electric service to an island, even with a house on a concrete slab, I feel sorry for you. I mean, damn man…get some imagination instead being a penis-breath baby. Sheesh.

A bit touchy bud, you'll convince more people of your competence by coming a little softer.

I'm guessing BBQ's are next.

Not going to lie...I feel a bit guilty using charcoal. Natural gas is probably better than using lump charcoal for the environment.

Wood burning stoves are already a bit under scrutiny because of the smoke.

If you use a BBQ in your house, you're doing home cooking wrong. But the oxygen deprivation angle would explain the modern Republican party.
Most use propane. Ironically, I saw a commercial taking about GREEN propane. Green?

Oh just wait for this to catch traction...

"When Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) signed a bill this month to legally redefine natural gas as a source of “green energy,” supporters characterized it as the culmination of a grass-roots effort to recognize the Buckeye state’s largest energy source.

“It’s green. It’s clean. And it’s abundant right under our feet, right here in Ohio,” Rep. Troy Balderson (R-Ohio) wrote in an opinion piece in the Columbus Dispatch.

But Ohio’s new law is anything but homegrown, according to documents reviewed by The Washington Post. The Empowerment Alliance, a dark money group with ties to the gas industry, helped Ohio lawmakers push the narrative that the fuel is clean, the documents show. The American Legislative Exchange Council, or ALEC, another anonymously funded group whose donors remain a mystery, assisted in the effort.

ALEC — a network of state lawmakers, businesses and conservative donors — circulated proposed legislation for Ohio lawmakers and has urged other states to follow suit, according to the documents, which were obtained via a public records request by the Energy and Policy Institute, a group that advocates for renewable energy."

My understanding of asthma is that it is a genetic weakness that you are born with. Not caused by anything environmental.

We can't have anyone blaming those inbreeding red neck evangelicals can we though?

Moved to a place with gas going to the stove, for the first time in 15 years. Given the limited electrical input to the house, replacing it with electric will never be an option.
But before that, my entire childhood involved gas stoves.

What the hell are they going on about?
They say it is bad, but the articles seem piss poor at explaining the danger.

From the replies here... are you saying it has been found to cause asthma?
My understanding of asthma is that it is a genetic weakness that you are born with. Not caused by anything environmental.

Asthma is a condition. It's a description of your lungs and airways swelling or constricting. There are a number of things that can induce this condition that *ARE NOT* genetic.

My Dad did not congenitally have "asthma". But he did spend a really long weekend repairing tile in an indoor pool facility that was over chlorinated. It essentially burned his lungs and now he has a high sensitivity to anything with bleach. Even bleached clothes can induce what is described as "an asthma like response".

People aren't born with asthma. It's typically induced by something else, genetics, environmental irritants, ect.

You need separate out the condition from the catalyst.

Same, my last three homes I've had NG out to the patio areas. Used the same NG grill at each one. It's great. Pennies to operate and never have to swap tanks. It's probably one of the more overall efficient and "clean" means of cooking.

Love not being at the mercy of whether or not the tank(s) are filled.

When you take a step back and realize that all this outrage and wall to wall Fox news coverage came about because one member of an independent regulatory commission expressed a concern that no other commissioner backed them on... and suddenly it's OMG the Feds are coming to take my gas stove and bbq!

And my only concern is how fucking stupid, gullible, and easily triggered so many people are. Just sad.

But yes, gas stoves will eventually go the way of the manual transmission. But just the like the death of MT, it's going to take years and years and no one is going to take away what you already have.

I use a gas stove because I don't have a woodstove and also I don't have a forest to supply a woodstove with wood. But, eventually, I intend to be a proper forest hermit with a nice woodstove.

What and ban that which provided hours and hours of fun for us kids from blowing out the pilot light, turning up the gas, waiting about ten seconds and then lighting a match near the burner to get that ever so satisfying *WHOMP!!!* as the gas and eyebrows gets lit up in a flaming ball over the stove?

What next....banning gas lanterns inside camping tents so kids can't use their creativity by forming obscene hand shadow puppets against the tent walls?

FTS, that's going way too far.

And now the actual standards come out: https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/29/business/joe-biden-gas-stove/index.html?utm_source=business_ribbon
3% of new gas stoves are affected as they are not efficient enough. All that outrage over 3% of gas stoves. And the standards only apply to new stoves, existing stoves are untouched (as of course they would be since the government can't barge in and rip out all gas stoves).
Meanwhile on fox:

Is Joe Biden coming not steal to your stove and force you to eat from centralized government run soup kitchens?

Next on Hanity:

The Biden administration wants to take away your ability to cook food so they can force you to be a vegan.

Phew, here I was worried Demon-rats were going to make us eat bugs and lick rocks.
Clearly Jesus saved us with that 3% rule. But we better stay outraged and angry, just in case!!!!

ALBANY — A group of businesses, trade associations and labor unions filed a federal lawsuit Thursday challenging the legality of New York’s ban on gas stoves and furnaces in new residential buildings — a central pillar of Gov. Kathy Hochul’s push for green energy.

Electrical delivery on the grid is much less reliable than natural gas or oil. Seems like a bad idea in cold weather states regarding heat.
