I order a double cheeseburger, large fires, and diet coke. I like soda with my burger and fries but would rather not have all that extra sugar. Whats the problem with that?

i believe he was referring to an obese person ordering that, not an average weighted person (i'm assuming you are average weighted). i am very in shape myself, however i will drink diet sodas unless i'm drinking normal sodas with liquor when I go out. i only eat fast food probably once every 2 weeks though, but if i do, i will always get a diet coke with it.

I believe the proper literary term is called Irony....

I don't know why they call it a "problem". I'm fat and it's not a problem for me.
If it's a problem for anyone else, perhaps they should take the opportunity to mind their own fvcking business. ;)

Once you go older and they will start to pay your medical expenses for heart related diseases and other diseases that appear much more on overweight people, it's not your problem anymore.
Who is "they"?
Can I have their phone number? I'd like to ask if they'd like to start paying my healthcare premiums now. I'm wondering why "they" have never volunteered to pay for my healthcare in the past?

"They" are the other people on your plan paying higher premiums because of people's poor lifestyle choices -- smoking, overeating, or other behaviors associated with higher medical claims. Too bad we cannot have people with higher risk behaviors pay more than those who make an effort to maintain good health.

Hehehehehehehehehehe.
You think premiums are going to go down if people don't engage in high risk behaviors?
Wanna buy a watch?

Who do you think is paying for all these obesity-related costs, not to mention the time off from work that fatter people statistically gobble like bonbons? ;)
I figured we're paying for it with the savings realized from the healthy people who don't live in smog-choked, stress-packed cities.

Doubt me? Try drinking only bottled water and buying only organic food for three months. See how much weight you lose and how much better you feel.
I didn't go so crazy as to buy only organic food, but my wife and I made a pact to start eating better. Lots more fruits and veggies, less prepared food from the store (which tends to be very fatty) and less eating out. I also drink at most 8oz of pop every few days. After just a couple months I'm down from 195-200 to 180-185.
Eating properly and exercising are very important, I am certain, but I question this whole rage about bottled water. If your tap water really sucks, then there's always the filtering machines at the store that can sell you water in gallon jugs, but regardless, I can loose weight without paying insane amounts of money for something I can get for (almost) free from any tap.

So this ever-shrinking minority is paying for people who choose not to take care of their health. Sounds fair! :p

I only buy bottled watered if it's flavored. Usually H2Oh, for the light flavor and carbonation. I stay away from the stuff with Splenda or aspartame in it. Other than that, it's tap water that I run through a Brita filter.

whenever i see an extremely obese person, i wonder, have they given up? do they figure no matter how much they eat right, or exercise, they wont see any results...so dont even bother trying?

Yeah, I like flavored water, but hardly ever buy it. I used to use one of those Brita filters, but the filter was expended and, um... hasn't been replaced yet. So instead, I fill my glass directly from the tap.

First off, I know that the OP was just stating a point that Americans are obese.

However, many people in this thread are b!tching about how obese people are ruining their health, and should excersise more and eat better.

Now, I ask all these posters why they care? I'm 16, 6'2", 237 with 14% body fat, and the more fat people there are, the more people die sooner.

Stop caring and let them die. Hell, I dip, and when people tell me that my jaw will fall off, I tell them I don't give a damn.

Damn, Google is telling me fat people are ugly, diseased, and jobless... wow.
It's truly sad that the American stereotype is generally true... fat and lazy... but we've known that for a while and most of the fat ones don't care because we call them "beautiful"

Shens, or you're just totally diesel.

My little brother is 17, 6'2 and he's 175 lbs. He's thin, in good shape, but still his bodyfat is higher than 14%. If you're 237 lbs and only have 14% bodyfat, you're a beast.

WTF? I work 1300-1700 as a construction worker in the heat without A/C, then go to the gym and work out.

I love the pain from soreness.

British food is really crappy. This brings about 2 things:

1. The smaller girth you're noticing.
2. More beer.

Why does someone always bring up this absurd excuse for a documentary in food/weight threads?

Because it's an interesting and entertaining documentary.
WTF does it document? Eating eleventy billion times the RDA of calories will make you fat? No fscking sh!t.

It certianly doesn't have to do with fast food or Mc.Ds they way it was presneted. It was a hack-n-slash job *AT BEST*.

Oh, too many Americans ARE fat. Jesus, just look at the kids in school.

You have your own "risk behaviors" yet you see what you do as acceptable, and what others do as un-acceptable.

Do you: speed, smoke, drink, do illegal drugs, have lots of sexual partners, etc.? Of course you do. *waits for you to ride in on your white horse*
Even if you don't, to ASSUME others in society don't is flat ignorance.

Don't want to provide health care to people with risk behaviors? Fine. Don't provide public health care.
