Wait, your son went ahead with the bullies or just idly stood by outside of the youth group?

This little group accepts a gay person for what he is?

You're such a fucking retard and from what you have said, so is your son.

Not as much of a retard as a guy who goes around on the internet pretending to be in the SAS.

who cares.

this turtle is fucking badass

Hahaha, stupid pigeon walked right into that one. 😀

Are only threads that bash Christianity tolerated here?

Unless you are too blind to notice, this board poops on religion, period. You only fuel the fire by making threads like this. You brought it up, you deal with the results. You expect a board full of know-it-alls to take this sitting down?

Once again, Phineas would like to remind everyone that he is TOTALLY not A RACIST OR A BIGOT. He knows black people, Hmong people and gays! But he still totally hates the Jews for some reason.

I really don't understand why everyone is bashing him. Doesn't seem like troll bait to me.

He makes multiple threads just to point out that he hangs out with and is cool about different minorities. Except Jews.

What are your views regarding homosexuality?

Any and every teenager is welcome in my youth group. If I heard any of my kids making someone even the least uncomfortable about their sexual orientation that would stop immediately. We've regularly had to address the topic of not using "ur gay" as a slur. If I have a homosexual kid and he/she brings their partner to youth group, they would be as welcome as any other kid (and subject to the same PDA rules.)

I teach what's in the Bible, as written, historically and contemporarily, and I talk about the different ways that different people interpret it; from there the kids have to reach their own conclusions. Some people interpret Paul's passages on homosexuality as morally prohibitive and some view it as culturally-bound and outdated.

It's important for kids to know the variety of beliefs they'll encounter in the world and, whether they're orthodox or progressive in their own beliefs, have given thought to how they will interact with those who differ from their views and lifestyle. My goal is that my kids know what they believe, have the Biblical knowledge for why they believe it or don't, and remain open to engaging in polite and honest discussion with people of other perspectives, even if they are more liberal/conservative.

Can you tell what my perspective is on homosexuality? That's probably as much as my kids can tell too. 😛

I'm not trying to be a wuss and not take a perspective, but teacher-bias is a real issue; I don't want my kids to think they believe someone simply because I told them because later in life that will fade away. I want to prompt them to think through and arrive at their own conclusions.

lol. "Gay Kids". So lame. Kids don't know shit about being gay, they are just imitating the bullshit they see around them. lol. "Gay Kids". Lame. Everyone knows this.

B/c OP implied it's the church that's accepting and the secular kids that are intolerant. And in a specific given example that might appear to be the case. However it is not the case in general. The single greatest correlating factor for opposition to gays in general, gay marriage, gays in the military, etc, is 'weekly church attendance'.

Oh, and since when does anyone need a reason to bash?
