Just about every decision Nintendo ever made was bad actually.
I guess that's why they went out of business so quickly.
Hahaha
It still astounds me how little people really know about Nintendo as a business. Nintendo has been minting currency for years, and they have huge cash reserves.

The PS2 made a profit right from it's launch. If it sold at a loss, Sony won't even bother selling them in piracy-infested countries.
Pretty sure that from everything I've read, they did take a loss in hardware for a while. Made up with licensing fees.

Clearly one of the biggest controllers in videogame history as well as one of the most uncomfortable

The fat Xbox controller is one of the most comfortable I have used. I don't understand all the hate surrounding this controller. It fits in your hands perfectly and my hands are not big either.

Nintendo's Virtual Boy was a disaster. Just awful and it even gave people headaches. I did like that tennis game for it though.
Sega has made plenty of dumb decisions such as the 32X, releasing the Saturn early in the US (with that ugly remade controller instead of the superior japanese one), not localizing the many excellent Saturn games in Japan..etc.
man i had the SEga 32X and the Sega CD. sigh such a waste of money.
heh.. I had the Master System, Genesis, Sega CD, 32X, Saturn, Game Gear...etc.. I was a glutton for punishment when it came to Sega hardware.

Didn't Nintendo make the most percentage net profit during this generation? They made considerable profit from all their platforms. Their DS is rolling, and Cube made a decent profit.
I don't see any of their decisions as being bad. They still make quite a bit of $$$$$$.
...
And frankly, that's all that matters.
And I 100% disagree w/ the notion that Nintendo dropping Sony for the CD idea was bad in the industry. Because of that, we have great competition, better games from all companies, better hardware from all companies, etc...
xbox probably wouldn't exist today if Sony was around, etc..
Nintendo continues to innovate w/ cool handhelds and w/ the promising controller in the revolution, and do so due to competition.

I'll take that to mean that your opinions are about as useful as your consitant BS neffing. 4000 posts in 4 months = you need a life.

It's because Nintendo keeps optimizing profits while sacrificing marketshare. It's like GM/Ford 15 years ago. Very short sighted.
I will say that DS suprised me. It's doing much better than expected. Had it not, Nintendo's handheld and console market would have been cornered, and they're cash farm would start dieing.

nintendo isnt full of all screwups, they definatly made some great games, and are still in business, so somethign has to be going right! There are a lot of systems that died, some that we may not even know about. It just seems like nintendo, sony, and now microsoft are some top console makers.

Malak is incapable of seperating graphics from gameplay. To this day I'd rather play Chrono Trigger on the SNES or Xenogears on the PS1 than any other console RPGs. Their graphics are horrid by today's standards, but they are brilliant games in storyline and gameplay. Chrono Triggers graphics are very vibrant and have an anime/cartoony style (Artist for the Dragonball series did the art for CT).
To bring it towards Nintendo:
All the zelda games EVER have been great. NES to Gamecube. If Malak would take the time, he'd see that behind the cute graphics of the latest Zelda games there is deep, fun gameplay.
The mariokart series:
Someone above described it as simplistic, and I would agree with that. But that doesn't mean you can't be 10x better than another player. There aren't 115 options to set up on your car like Gran Turismo. You pick a racer, possibly a car in the latest version, and they have a feel. Even with the exact same character, its very possible to beat another player by a huge margin just because you take corners better, know when to brake, etc. The games have deep gameplay and REPLAYABILITY.
