I never said I was too cool for Dora. I enjoy that show very much.

Worst video game decision ever made was Atari turning Nintendo down as a retail partner in the US.

(Nintendo was shopping the NES around to different companies to distribute in the US. Back then, Japanese companies typically didn't peddle their goods directly here. Retail partner for Sega on the SMS was Tomy, if I recall correctly)

Yea..that was a bonehead move by Atari but I doubt they or anyone else thought the NES would be a big as it turned out to be after the whole videogame crash business.

Also, Sega's retail partner for the Sega Master System was Tonka.

Pretty sure that from everything I've read, they did take a loss in hardware for a while. Made up with licensing fees.

how about nintendo not going ahead with CD base media for N64?

as for one of the greatest decision, it may be Sega deciding to quit the hardware business back in 2001 or was it 2002

Nintendo:
Virtual Boy
Nintendo 64 using carts
Bad 3rd party relations
Not pushing eye candy/HD on Revolution. That's really going to hurt them in 2010 when a lot of gamers will have HDTVs.
Not pushing DS's technology more. They're getting great sales now, but when PSPs price comes down and equals it, it could hurt it later.
Ignoring the online market.
They have ADD with their userbase target. First they want to get the adult market with Eternal Darkness, Resident Evil, but then they go for "Mario Sunshine", purple gamecubes, and cartoony zelda. Great games...but completely contradicts their new target.

Microsoft:
Being anti-keyboard/mouse. FPS + gamepad = SUCK. Not to mention we could have Warcraft 4 on Xbox 360.
Their Xbox 1 was a complete financial failure. But then again, MS may have only been concerned about market penetration, which was a moderate success.

Sony:
Somewhat negligant of making hardware developer friendly
2 controller ports on PS2

Sega:
Everything between, but not including, genesis and Dreamcast.

Just about every decision Nintendo ever made was bad actually.

Mario64, MarioKart64, Goldeneye, Starfox64!!@!@!!!
I'll give you Goldeneye, but otherwise, you supported his statement.

Wrong. The other three games are excellent aswell.
Wrong. They suck, and yes - I've played them all.

Yeah STFU right there. You have NO appreciation for games relating to their time period. ALL of those games were ground breaking and amazing games for their time. I still consider them all great games and I think the ONLY people who would have no appreciation for these games are idiot 10 year old little myg0t wanabee kids. Please just don't talk and save yourself the embarrassment.

I guess that's why they went out of business so quickly.

The worst descision ever belongs to Halo. Bungie sold out to the millions of rabid ten year olds by releasing a kiddy-friendly console game. Level design sucked, the enemies were stolen from Marathon, and overall it was horrible. All thanks to Bungie, dozens of other game developers have been following them, slowly killing the game industry.

Although I've never played Goldeneye, Mario 64 was a thousand times worse than the SMB and SMW games. Mario Kart is just hideously basic in gameplay and Starfox is a total bore. Nintendo can go DIAF.

I think Sony would have eventually branched out on their own regardless of what happened in the past. Sony and Nintendo have different philosophies when it comes to designing games and hardware. Just look at the difference between the PS3 and Revolution for an example of this divergence.

And the bottom line: Nintendo is still deep in the black.

Hahaha

It still astounds me how little people really know about Nintendo as a business. Nintendo has been minting currency for years, and they have huge cash reserves.

the newer xbox 360 is a competitor to the ps2 and the not yet unleashed-> ps3

so what about nintendo, they will still make money.. but I guess they are no longer the leader in consoles/games, or are they...

no, they're not ;)

I think they're kinda like the Apple of the video game console world... they make a solid product that only appeals to a small niche population.

I'll take that to mean that your opinions are about as useful as your consitant BS neffing. 4000 posts in 4 months = you need a life.
