that sucks. I still hold onto the starter armor because the skin is great, hoping I can upgrade it later somehow.

I installed the Nilfgard armor ~level 18, finally went to check it out at level 22 for the first time--it is level 10. I know the Temerian armor never scaled up for me--I often checked, because I like that skin.

Someone mentioned that these armors scale...so when does that happen? I've never seen it.

Those armor are level 30ish for me and I'm lv37

seeing a lot more bugs after this patch:

Geralt jumps out of boat when using crossbow, plummets from the top of the game world and dies when hitting the boat--noticed this in, I think, 1.04 patch notes as being fixed...but it's the first time I have seen it.

finish a quest/event, then combat music comes on, remains that way through another quest, through cutscenes...all this while, the game thinks I am in combat, so doesn't allow saves. I was able to hit a few checkpoint saves, so that was OK, and it eventually disengaged from combat and I could save again.

Roach controls seem far more jonky than before, despite "improved horse controls"

...now I'm getting too much XP and leveling too fast. :D

I don't use a horse for that reason, they will just full stop because I guess something in the game world is in the way even when from your perspective it isn't and you're travelling on the road up to a bridge or something. Very annoying.

I only got 5 xp for the family matters quest. Although I agreed to help the baron get his wife back from the witches. I'm level 12 now and the game wants me to go to skellige.

116 hours in, according to Steam.

I've level 21 or so, and am currently bouncing between Skellige and Novigrad doing various sidequests.

Loving the Color Blind Witcher Sense option that was added in the patch. It is a Godsend. :)

Witcher armour is great, using superior Griffin armour at the moment, going to change that at next level for me at 26 to superior Feline Witcher armour.

I just made my superior feline swords(steel and silver).

Same, it's. Ow a secondary quest. I'm probably going to novigrad next.

FYI, I'm running 15.5 drivers and it's working well. Character pop in seems lessened.

Seem to have come into a bug in downwarren where I took a contract but I can't seem to activate the quest. Still have the contract in my inventory too. I kinda want to do it to, as I saw it during a gameplay a few months ago.

Only other big I've found is that taking thunderbolt from the menu doesn't play the 'swallow' sound.

I've also found out using the 15.5 drivers I have no black screen upon reboot of my computer before it gets to the desktop. So I will stick with them. I think I'll do the quest with the baron before going to novigrad. I've explored pretty much everything in velen. Only contract I'm able to maybe do is the cat school gear but it is suggesting level 18.

I use witcher's too; just making an observation that the DLC armor isn't scaling for me, so it doesn't seem to be an option. I really like the Nilfgaard skin, but I also prefer light armor anyway.

I'm level 23, and still haven't found the quest/location/whatever for some of the enhanced griffin schematics--specifically the armor schematic. I have completed all of the superior, all of the ursine sets, and all but the final Cat quest--I'm guessing for master's level, because it is a level 34 treasure hunt?

Annoying, because I wanted to switch up skins, but I'm about to outlevel superior griffin and head straight to superior cat in 1.5 levels.

:hmm: maybe I need to purchase it and it scales in my inventory?

In the previous witcher games Geralt had levels, but it was not a big deal. You got quests, you did quests. You met enemies and fought them. Some enemies were tough, some that you met repeatedly (like drowners) became easier over time. I'm sure this was all using levels behind the scenes, but it wasn't visible or really relevant to the player.
I can't remember TW2. But I did play (finish) TW1 a few months ago. The levels in TW1 were maybe not so visible. But they did have a noticable impact on Geralt. Every level you would receive one, or even more talent-points. Building your talent tree with those points really did have an impact. At least imho.

You should also realize that in TW1 there were multiple acts. You could not progress to the next act, unless you had done a minimum set of quests. And thus the developers could make a good estimate what level you would be in which act. In TW3, the developers have a lot less control over where Geralt goes at what level. So they need a way to warn the player: don't try to fight this monster, because it is 10 levels above you. In TW1 that just wouldn't happen.

So now you have people worried about choosing the "right" quests for their level, and getting twisted into knots because of the xp bug because now their character sheet will say level 28 when they finish the game instead of saying level 30.
Agreed.
But level does have impact. I tried to fight a level-12 named Foglet (named Ignis Fatuus). When I was only level-10 myself. Tried half a dozen times, then gave up and went on to do something else. I came back when I was level-13. Killed it 2nd try. Not a very hard fight, but you do need to take it serious. And the 3 levels extra made a huge difference.

But it's still a choice whether levels are a behind the scenes mechanic, or a prominent part of the world.
Agreed. Any game mechanic that can be hidden from the eye of the player adds to the immersion. The goal after all is to be in a fantasy world. The goal is not to play a game.

Don't go yet. I'm not even sure you can find/use a boat to get to Skellige yet.

When you finish the quest that you were tracking, the game will pick a new quest for you to track. It seems it just takes the first quest it finds. I'm not sure what the ordering of quests is (it's not just by level, I think). But story quests are listed above all other quests. So the game just picks a story quest to track. In your case it's the Skellige quest. In my case too. Ignore it. Do some other stuff. Until you're level 16 or higher. That's what I am doing. You should have enough quests left. If not, ride around between a few villages and you might find more.

Yeah, 15.5 has been good to me.

You really explored everything? I'm level 12 and still several things I can't get to yet and areas I've not yet reached. Also you'll find some small quests just wandering around, but those often aren't near roads. Generally just little treasure hunt quests though.

Level certainly has a huge impact in this game. I can usually fight something about 4-5 levels above me, but nothing more. Do stats like damage and stamina auto increase with level? I've not paid much attention to that aspect but I can't figure out why some enemy would suddenly be so much easier.

One thing I've noticed with this latest patch is some village homes are now painted? I dunno if I missed that before or if it's something new, or a glitch. Looked at them up close and it looks intentional. Homes are either a light blue or a whitewash color, but not always on each side.

I've explored many of the question marks in velen, only about 3 or 4 left because those are dragons or monsters that are ?? Or too high of a level. Some places on the map I can't get to, tells me it's the end of the map which is odd. Usually those left over areas, I go to explore and end up forgetting to save and get killed. There are some notice boards I gave to get for example two or three towns by oxenfort.

I also noticed some of the areas are somewhat painted but I haven't paid more attention.

Not sure about stamina and other stats, I think it all relies on the skill points you upgrade. I have fast attack upgraded to 2 and noticed its made a difference in my characters attacks.

The game swaps quests when you finish a milestone at times. It doesn't mean you should go directly there.

You really see it if you try to unlock the master armorer and the master weaponsmith.
I was able to do the weaponsmith relatively early think lvl 9 or so, but for the armorer I had to wait till about level 13. Mind you these are 20+ quests, so really needed to be patient / know the fight

Had to reinstall the game because of CineFx & 1.05 bug.Turning the camera anywhere near a light source resulted in totally white screen until turning camera away.

Installed the game then decided to give hunter's config a try. The tool is amazing. Download, extract into the game folder and run. It auto backs up setting and has a 1click restore if you go overboard. Took a few tweaks including this one to eliminate pop in:

ah, the other "bug" that has been around since 1.01 or 1.02: all the armorsmiths claiming to craft swords when you first talk to them.

I can see that being confusing to new players, considering how crafting worked in the previous games (non-specific---W2, anyway)

also, is there any later use for the monster trophies? I keep thinking there will be some ridiculous recipe later--maybe in expansion packs or whatever--but they are really clogging up my inventory and are quite redundant.

I found the Mastercraft Griffin and Feline gear schematics ,I wish we could store loot somewhere since with upgrades you can store your old gear and upgrade it later rather then crafting from scratch and keeping it your inventory as dead weight.

I wonder if I store something in a chest at any house for example will it still be there later?..Think I will store some crap stuff and see if it stays there for good.

As for trophies I sell them, dead weight IMHO ,you only need one for your horse and that is a preference thing on which one you choose.

Witcher gear does not scale, well not for me,using superior Grif at the moment but going to superior Feline at level 26,almost there at 25.6 :) .
Do they have a level cap and money cap in this game?...Up to 73k now :).

Good thing with Witcher gear is most of it's upgradeable(ie Standard to Enhanced to Superior to Mastercraft) once you have all the schematics and level requirements, having correct resources obviously for crafting.

I find no real need for non Witcher gear, weapons maybe if better stats.

Anyone a little disappointed in the trophies attributes? The ones I get are either extra xp or 10% dismemberment. Don't want the extra xp, the 10% is nice though. Feels like w2 had more perks with the trophies.

I think the 5% extra herbs one is crap.

I am in the same boat as zinfamous, i have like 5-6 trophies, keeping them around just incase, but also it seems I have duplicates of stats. I think I have 2 that do 10% dismemberment and 2 that do 10% experience gains. Think I might just sell them off to the trophy person just outside novigrad

Also what does everyone do with the boat load of crafting and alchemy parts... It seems like there is a lot and it would take a bunch of weight but when I look at the items its like .0X of a kg

I may have to try the drop method that Mem mentioned and see if the items stay.. something tells me they wont as I believe I tried that before

Seems on the net it is safe to sell trophies you don't need, one guy did try to store stuff and stated when you leave that area and come back, the stuff you stored has gone.

I think will have to test this myself.

I've seen a number of people claim that when they drop stuff, it stays there for a while. But if you come back way way later, it sometimes is gone. That's enough reason for me to keep stuff in my saddlebags.

The first thing I did when I left White Orchard was find info about saddlebags on the net. It seems you can't get +100kg bags right away. So I settled for the +70kg bags. Total is 130kg. That's been enough for now. I'm lvl14. And when I sell all junk, I'm at 75kg. Used to be 60kg. I think once I continue the mainline, I have access to the 100kg bags in Novigrad. (I refuse to enter a certain establishment without my swords. I tried to find another way in, but didn't succeed. I will try again later). I hope that by the time my 160kg total is full, CDPR will have released a patch with storage at Inns.

Where do you find saddlebags? I'm still at 60, and 75 would be nice.

I have 100kg one from Skillage ,in fact had two,got one from a horse race, plenty of merchants sell them just look around.

Also found some in the sea from hidden caches(Skillage).

Keep looting you get one sooner or later.
