Damn I was so fucking psyched about this game until a few minutes ago. It's well known that CD Projekt have promoted this game as being totally uncensored in all regions. They also claimed that there would be no regional pricing. Both are lies. Damn, one of the few game companies I had begun to respect have yet again fucked over international customers. The game went from 'definite buy' to 'no buy until it's in the $8 bin'.

Most of their guarantees have been made about the GoG version only, not if you buy a retail copy or other digital copy, since you run into various problems they don't have full control over.

A few people have their retail copy already in the UK,unfortunately they can't play it until Tuesday 17th ( the day you can activate it).

What region censoring is there???

Censored a little bit in Australia, I'm guessing that the same will apply to New Zealand copies. link

Overnight, we received word that The Witcher 2 had received an MA15+ rating for "Strong violence, sex scenes, nudity and coarse language". With the game being rated 18+ in the UK, did the developers change anything for the Australian system? We've been in touch with Australian distributors Namco Bandai who can confirm that they did - and here's what it was.

Only one thing was changed: Geralt is no longer able to choose to accept sex as a reward for successfully completing a side quest. The idea of receiving sex as a reward was not suitable for inclusion within an MA15+ classification, so Namco Bandai requested that CD Projekt remove the option of choosing to have sex as one of the rewards for that quest. The quest and the character who offers it are still in the game, but presented in a "slightly different context".

We are assured that this is the only change made to the Australian version of the game: the rest of the game remains untouched.
Really, I don't blame CDPR for many of the changes that have been made. I truly believe they want to release the exact same game, DRM free, across all distribution channels without the regional pricing.
Unfortunately, they have to deal with the desires of publishers, and I guess they don't have enough clout. Therefore, they have had to make some concessions.

But if you buy the game through GOG, a publisher that is a sister company, they pretty much provide what they initially promised. No DRM, pricing that tries not to discriminate by region, and it allows those Down Under to order the uncensored version.

not their fault Australia and your country pitched a fit last week and made them do it..
game companies have to do what the governments want them to do..
next time use your votes to elect some non puritanical people into office.

does the preload from GOG.com stop at 9600/9700mb for everyone else? just checkin'

Probably. I believe GOG is letting users download 90+% before hand, and will be allowed to finish the small remaining amount once the game is officially released.

I swear every post from you gets dumber and dumber. My government had nothing to do with it, my country got caught up as colateral damage thanks to Australia's ultra-conservative policies because we share the same publisher.

Like i said moron.. You just made my entire point.
It has nothing to do with the creator which you blamed in your above post.
it was censored by the Australian government (which I posted above as well)
the comment about voting non puritans into power was directed more to people that caused the fucking ban than you or your little country.
Do us all a favor and go sheer a sheep and leave us all in peace.
your posts reek of arrogance negativity and generally asshattery.
why you haven't been banned yet is amazing.
You contradict yourself in this post blaming the creator of the game and saying they let you down while at the same time admitting and knowing why the change was made.
blame the distributor and the Australians. but at least get your damn story straight.

So how is this the fault of the developer? The publisher has exclusive rights to sell in their region. It's either censor it or not sell it at all.

Just get it from GoG. Set your region to the US and purchase it. They don't use IP tracking so they wont know you're from NZ.

I love how you just blamed the developer in the previous post, and now you admit it was the publisher. Good job trolling.

Yeah I forgot how funny some of the stuff in The Witcher is, I'm currently replaying it for the new. Love how you are banging the chick in the old "haunted" mill and the guys across the river are like, wish there was a witcher around for that damn ghost in the mill and it is just the girl moaning away haha.

Just to be certain, if I buy from steam I get the full version no censorship and only difference is I assume some sort of DRM which doesn't matter to me.

GoG is allowing you to preload it. Was Steam cheaper or something?

They're the same price on both GOG and Steam. I have it on Steam, partly because pre-loading doesn't really matter much to me. I can see it only being convenient for those with really slow connections. Otherwise, it's only a couple hours extra wait in my case.
