The Wire has caught me

the wire is def. more realistic than the shield (story wise), but i think the shield's story is much more compelling to watch.

That said, i love both shows. They each had one 'ehh' season (wire - 4, shield - 4), but other than that, good stuff.

I just watched season 1 - 3 of this show, and all I can say this is THE best cop show I've ever seen..

What the hell are you talking about? Season 4 was probably one of the best stories ever put on TV, period.

Some of the Wire is loosely based on real Baltimore politics...but I'm not aware of any ares here drugs were openly sold w/o anyone caring.

Anyway, it is a great show.

I think it was still good in the later seasons, but for the first season it was one of the best shows ever on TV. After that, the rest of the series was terrible by comparison.

i'm a little late to the party, but still felt it necessary to post in a thread about my 2 top shows

the shield = better overall story, stretches a bit on realism
the wire = most realist police show ever made for seasons 1-3.

Season 4 was a giant let down and i still do not understand why they went away from what made the show great. Pretty stupid.
