Why is it that the laptop I ordered from them was instock at the time I ordered it and now it shows up as being backordered! Not only that but there was supposed to be a $200 rebate but if I don't get the laptop in time I won't be able to send the rebate in on time and I won't get my $200!!! :|:|

Um, from what I've been reading the full screen version is the original aspect ration for BTTF.

The widescreen version is cropped from the fullscreen. If you want the directors intended aspect ratio, you have the right one. Thank the CS Counter rep next time you are there for keeping you from making a mistake.

NOTE: I could be wrong.

i think i can answer question 3. No, they are not being actively watched, they are just recording. Furthermore, not all of them has a real camera inside. Since BB has Lost prevention associates right at the door, there's no need to have sb watching the camera.

I am in no position to answer no 1. If it was me, i would notify the corporate;

1) How much of a markup is there on HDTVs?
2) Do you get your employee discount from day 1?

i would not rat anybody out...in fact, i would try to partake in the deal ;)
i am not telling what my job at best buy is ;)
the cameras are being actively watched by the guy in the yellow shirt up front (there is a monitor and control system right there).

Why is the "on-line ordering-in store pickup" so convoluted & lengthy?

I can do it @ Office Depot & they have my item up front & the cashier (@ the customer service counter) can usually turn around & pick up my item & hand it to me, & it's as speedy or faster than if I were to walk into OD & find the item myself.

@ BB, It takes 2-3X longer than if I were to find the item & bring it to a cashier.

Also, why doesn't BB just give the 110% PM up front like Staples?

it just depends on how easy the product is to get to in the warehouse
they dont give it up front cuz it is better for best buy financially not to do that

i dont know where your laptop is...
best buy is NOT paying anandtech for the advertisement cuz best buy is not advertising...
markup depends on the product...usually it is anywhere from 500 to 1000 dollars on hdtv's except for mitsubishis which are flagged and we dont get any discount on

Do the clueless BB employess and their supervisors get mad when people like me pretend they are going to buy a PSP just so they shut up about it, and then rip up the paperwork once I get to the cashier? This is a good tactic to use against their "we don't have any in-stock if you aren't going to get the PSP" policy on certain items.

they get more mad when you start to prove their techs wrong. Like in the computer area, with repairs and on the sales floor. Nothing like pissing off clueless people.

-=bmacd=-

service plans should be 9% of total revenue and accessories should be 11% of all revenue.

Your service number is correct but any store that runs an 11 in accy wont be on the top of anyones charts. We've run 18, 18, 17 the last three days.

Nope :) The film was made in super35, which is a full screen format, but was cropped in the theaters. The top and bottom of the film contain information you weren't meant to see. Willy wonka was the same way and you could see boom mics and tubes and stuff in the top and bottom that you don't (and shouldn't see at all) in the widescreen version)

Widescreen is still the OAR for back to the future.

Is it true that Best Buy doesn't really have an "inventory?"

this is not true, best buy does indeed purchase inventory/stock to sell.

The "plan" is to sell and make a profit before they get billed by the people they bought from

Is it normal for Best Buy.com to say an item is out of stock for three months, cancel your order and then two days later get the item back in stock?

Ordered some CDR's with a coupon and that is what they did to me.

I've got a question: why doesn't anyone at Best Buy ever answer the stinkin' phone? I called three different BBs home audio depts. with a question, and none of them picked up... I left my speakerphone on for up to 10 minutes letting it ring, still nothing!! WTF, I don't want to drive all over town! :|

The answer to that is quite simple: Shop somewhere else. Any business that has no interest in talking with you doesn't deserve your business. Any retail establishment must be courteous, helpful, and informative over the phone, because that's often a major avenue for bringing new customers into the store. When companies start to forget that customers are the reason they exist, they deserve to die.
