You want to fill in the gap to bring the percentage to their expectation? 😉

We're sorry that at this time we do not have an opportunity that interests you. We hope you will watch for our next announcements for future opportunities. Thank you for your interest in Best Buy. Good-bye.

Hmm.. 3 zip codes, 3 results like that.. maybe I should go in person. :\

Next question.

What's the percentage of people who fill out applications with resumes, getting a job at Best Buy?

your not supposed to (its called double dipping)...but if you get to a cool enough cashier then yeah, they will let you do it

Hypothetical question........

Say i'm shopping at the Best Buy and I pay for the items at the cashier
and walk toward the door and the door guy asks me for the reciept,

I blow him off because I'm in hurry..........What can that guy do to me?

if you go in person, they will tell you to go to the website. i got hired off of the website. if the website says they are not hiring, they will tell you that they are not hiring. in terms of resumes, they are not needed at best buy. you do, however, go through 3 interviews...after the online interview!

well, if its really busy, you will probably get away with blowing him off. if its not busy, you wont even blow him off cuz he's right there in front of you. if you do, however, blow him off, he/she probably wont do anything about it unless they truely believe you stole something. that is when they call the cops (police are usually there in < 1 minute from time of call).

Yup, if I'm detained against my free will without probable cause, the store will be liable.

Why would the snot working the CS counter last night not let me swap the Pan&Scan version of Back to the Future I got for Christmas for the widescreen version unless I paid $12 more dollars?

Is it true that Best Buy doesn't really have an "inventory?" One of my instructors told my Business Systems Analysis class that they basically lease or rent space to vendors to hawk their own products and then maintain the displays, help people carry the products, etc...

I guess this would kind of make sense especially after seeing printer company reps from 3 corporations in the printer aisle a few months ago.

I just thought that was interesting, maybe it isn't even true.

What kind of discount you guys get when buying stuff? i heard that it was 105% of the cost, right?

depends on what it is...markup isnt a whole lot on things like ps2's, xbox's, mitsubishi big screens, etc... but the actual discount is best buy's cost plus another 5% of the cost (to pay off labor for getting the item to the actual store). big markups are on accessories and car audio.

could be several reasons...
(1) was it sealed?
(2) does the widescreen version cost that much more than the pan&scan version?
(3) did you have a reciept/gift receipt?

not true at all. believe me, i've broken my back unloading the inventory off the trucks enough times to know its best buys inventory. true, reps are always at the stores trying to push the product, but thats so that best buy buys more of their product 😉

For the most part, I think so. I was a Microsoft representative for Xbox for a few months and we had to basically do that. Several of the other Xbox reps I talked to at the training event in Dallas were reps for other companies (Nintendo, HP, Lexmark, Sony, etc.) and mentioned the same thing about Best Buy.

However, I think they still have an inventory...they keep track of thefts, etc. It isn't the manufacturers job to stop theft and sell products when they aren't there.
