And here are some of my electric bill usage. It looks cheap because gas comes from a different company. Most peoples utility bills have electric & gas combined.

I added in October 2022 just to show a bill going back that far. I did not have the Bolt-EV until early Feb 2023. Did not start charging until early Feb 2023.
As you can see, bills have remained fairly consistent. No $400 increase. No big jump in usage. BTW, I started using my home air conditioner in May so May reflects an increase however not from the EV charging, more so from using the home air conditioner.
Enjoy.
$400 is an exaggeration for pretty much everyone, but $2 is also an exaggeration for pretty much everyone. I mean, my car probably uses $2 of electricity in a month when I'm not driving it. Looking at your screenshots, wouldn't your February bill include 19 days of charging your Bolt?

The math is the math - kWh * price per kWh. I've used 313 kWh in the last 30 days, mostly at $.17 per kWh, total cost $57. Average is $.04-.05/mile. (I didn't buy it to save money though)

Slaves in Congo have to mine so fans of EVs can feel good about the vehicles they drive and pat themselves on the back. Gotta save the planet by exploiting Africans!

lol. As if you give a damn about Africans. Let me guess you are also very concerned about how heavy EVs wear their tires creating dangerous particulates.

I'd actually agree more with a "use tax" based on vehicle weight, size, and miles driven. I think that's fair.

And can we get all these damn cross country trailer trucks off the road It's criminal how dilapidated some of our rail systems are these days. Rail is much more fuel efficient, and just as cost effective for long distance shipments. Trucks should only be for the last mile, short hauls, or for perishable goods. There would be less road congestion with less trucks on the roads too.
I agree we should be getting trucks off the road and using more trains. But at least for truckload size shipments, in my limited experience is trains cost twice as much and take three times as long.

He’s another Pooh Bear puppet; he wants the West to divest from Africa so China can make more inroads there.

If raildogg really cared about Africans, he would be there fighting against Wagner Group’s mercenary thugs.

That's partly because US railroads don't want to railroad anymore - they just want to move lots of uniform cargo across the country in multi-mile trainsets. Switzerland shows you what you can have with proper integration between national and regional-level rail: warehouses directly served by freight rail so you don't need to have tons of space to load/unload trucks. It's what we used to do in the US before we subsidized roads and drove freight rail to where it is today (on old buildings adjacent to railroad right-of-ways, you can still see this old infrastructure - doors evenly spaced apart (because they accommodated box cars on a siding).

Well, I'm just saying. And pointing out that the internet trend of spreading nonsense like EV's will cost the owner $400+ a month to charge. A lot of false information out there and from people that #1 never have sat inside a EV or #2 have some political agenda to fulfill or #3 work for an oil company. Ok, I say two dollars, so yeah maybe it's more like ten dollars but show me that $400 dollars? This is where the war on EVs come in, the misinformation. And... the motive to purposely spread misinformation.

Oh sure, maybe right now with current EV technology and battery technology buying an EV may not be for everyone, but then why would you own a cell phone? Or a smart watch? Or a flashlight? They run on batteries and their usage is limited. How many times has your phone died and you forgot to bring your charger? Did you go back to the old plug-in-the-wall dial phone?

I recently heard that many cities, most likely in blue states, are switching their police patrol cars from ICE to EV's. The cops love em saying they are faster than the old ICE patrols, with better pickup and faster start. Just remember to plug them in during the night.
Now if a cop in an EV was chasing a getaway car, also an EV, that would be an interesting pursuit.

Thats all. Made my point. I'm outta here. ;)

It is sad that the FUD is getting pumped out their. The oil companies and others are putting out the same old agit-prop as always, while claiming to support green technologies 100%. I saw an ad recently from and oil PAC that said gas engines were getting cleaner every year - WTFBBQ!

Thought I was done with this thread, but the attack never ends...

Iowa EVs now pay two taxes where gas cars only pay one
LINK

Luckily and so far the new tax doesn't apply to home charging. I guess because iOwa hasn't figured out how to do that? But.... they will. They know who owns the EV's and they'll probably just add the tax onto the overall electric bills, the entire electric usage in an EV household because they can not differentiate between usage for a microwave oven and usage for the EV.

iOwa is doing this because #1 their gov Kim Reynolds is a Biden hater big time and Biden pushes the EV thus anything to hurt Joe Biden. And #2, ethanol. Because iOwa is a farm state with farmers and lots of corn, they put corn into everything including their gas then calling it ethanol. Who would put that ethanol crap in their car in the first place?
Back to the horse and buggy days Kim Reynolds?
