Unfortunately it is not my view, it is the reality happening right now...

You just can't stand the fact they are cheering us......

Yup, Dave is as anti-american as they come. He's been against this war since day one!

No one called anyone anti-american.

So what is your problem, that every single person in the country who would be willing to commit harm against us is not dead or in custody?

One reporter alone chronicled similar situations in 8 straight towns leading into Baghdad. Where do you think all these bad guys are anyway? I thought they were all "guarding" Baghdad. They went home, they gave up, how much more MAJOR resistance do you think there will be?

The sledgehammer seems to be having a better effect than the shoes they were throwing at the statue. They have already made a pretty good dent in the side.

Wait, they have the rope in place and are WAVING down a passing US tank for help....:D

There is a huge crowd of very excited Iraqi citizens rushing the square as the US tank moves into position to help tear down the statue.

Well, as DaveS said it isnt over. I was suprised at the relative lack of resistance. It makes me wonder if Saddam has not been dead some time now. Good to be able to see people cheering. Now the interesting stuff starts soon.

I really don't think that's going to be an OSHA approved method of pulling down a statue. It's all fun and games until someone gets an eye put out.

One must assume those that suggested the Iraqi people would warmly welcome our presence once they were safe were correct, guess that would have to include Bush, they were even chanting his name and thanking him all over the city today, still are.

Yes, they are going to ram this thing down.....:D

Going to turn on the Promedia 5.1's to listen to the cheers when it crumbles.

They are giving them food packages from the tank as well.

Hitting someone/something with a shoe is considered a very grave insult in that region.

Haha.. It's amazing to see the determination of those group of guys trying to get down the statue. Shows how much they hated living under Saddam.

I know, but it has little physical effect on a statue...

Will there even be any public signs or images of Saddam left by nightfall?

This tank has a winch with a metal chain, they are putting it in place right now, this will be over shortly.

Already gone, but they have the chain in place, don't miss the show.

The Arab media FINALLY reports on the activities happening, to complain that an Iraqi flag should have been put up there, it was only there 60 seconds.

A shining example of the people of Iraq getting what they want in their new found freedom, here comes the Iraqi flag..... Will Al-Jezeera show THAT?

Pre Gulf War Iraqi flag has been placed around Saddams neck.

Too late, the only footage the Arab world will see from today in Baghdad is that American Flag...
