Nice to see it go. Dont whack off yet though guys.

Sounds like things are beginning to fold over there.

You might as well let us hear the rest of you anti-war rhetoric now, because you're about to be on the losing side of the argument.

I think it was clear to everybody which side will win this war. Anyway there should have been other ways to end Saddam's administration. Like in Romania late 80's. People were fed up with Ceacescu so they had their own revolution. Couple of months or years this would have been the situation in Iraq.

yes now would be the time to use your WMD (weapons of mass disinformation).....;)

Losing side of what argument? I doubt that many have the wit to be able to accurately relatate what my argument against this war has been. This is pretty much what I expected to see. Patience children. Remember I said the war would be easy. Many of my objections were based on moral arguments about launching our own Pearl Harbor. Well, that is rather moot now isnt it? In any case, let the Iraqis have their fun. They earned it.

Another thread where Hayabusarider states he knows we are seen as liberators as he just claimed he has been saying all along...

Here are some of his comments on how "easy" he thinks this war will be.

A thread asking if you think the war will be easy, notice his response..."Will all those who posted some comment or started a thread to the effect that the Iraqis would throw down their weapons and surrender faster than the French please step forward so we can see you?" RIGHT HERE Hay, just like you are trying to claim now.

Ok those are 3 random threads out of 5 I looked at where you contradicted what you JUST claimed was your position all along. I guess you must have been right, I just dont have the "wit" to understand your superior intellect, errr, hypocrisy, pardon us, we are only "children".

I started to feel better about this war when Jessica Lynch was rescued and now I'm feeling much better. It does seem like a lot of Iraqi people are happy with us but the real test will come later -- after the initial euphoria has faded. We need to help them rebuild their nation. I think our soldiers still have to keep their guards up -- a lot of enemy soldiers took off their uniforms and are hiding among civilians now.

I'm hoping these images will help soften the anger in the rest of the Arab and Muslim world against us.

I'm also hoping we can rescue our POWs and MIA soon. And I'm hoping our soldiers will be able to come home soon -- safe and sound.

Guys, save the arguing and disagreeing until later. Let us enjoy this moment, too.

Glad you bring that up, why dont we post it here

"What a suprise this is.

News flash- A great many Iraqis see us as invaders, and they are right. The fact that we are "nice" does not change that fact. "

First we are invaders. We did not liberate Normandy. We invaded it. Look it up in the history books before Alistar7 re-writes them.

Second. Notice the words A GREAT MANY. Not all.

Seems there were about 1500 out of 5,000,000 people for that little celebration. Evidently that qualifies as a majority, since they do what you want them to and therefore are worthy to be noticed. Want to know something about people? Sometimes they are glad to be rid of one thing, but not glad to have something else. Too advanced a concept I know.

Alistar, while you are searching, why dont you find the thread where I said I thought people in Iraq wanted Saddam for a leader, because he was a good one? I would be grateful if you could refresh my memory on that one.

No, we did not invade Normandy. The Germans did that.

And we have not invaded Iraq, either. We do not plan on taking over Iraq and making it the 51st State.

invade - to enter for conquest or plunder

The people being liberated or invaded are the ones who get to decide which it is. How many frenchmen feel they were "invaded" rather than liberated during WWII?

I have already provided three links that contradict what you are NOW trying to claim was "your position" all along. Your credibility is GONE.

"By September 1944, Allied forces had liberated most of France and were poised to cross the Rhine river into Germany itself."

Great snippet from the second article, thanks...............;)

and here is a nice one from the first article you linked:

"Local French Resistance forces, alerted to the imminent invasion, engaged in behind-the-lines sabotage and combat against the occupying Germans.

American, British and Canadian troops met heavy resistance from the German forces defending the area, but were able to punch inland, securing safe landing zones for reinforcements. The German failure to successfully defend the Normandy area from the Allied liberation forces in essence doomed Hitler's dream of a Nazi controlled "Fortress Europe" and marked the beginning of the end for Germany."

Now who was occupying and who was liberating?

That's just a convenient misuse of the word.

Invade is what the Romans did for centuries. Invade is what Napoleon did. Invade is what Saddam did to Kuwait.

Of course they are. There are 23 million people there and most every one is glad to be rid of him. Now what happens in 6 months?

You want it to be over. Fine it's over. THe end. Bring the troops home now.

You know that cannot be done now. We still need to stablize the country and root out as much resistance as possible before helping to setup an interim government and start rebuilding.

Love the links BTW very imaginitive titles. Fanciful too.

There was less resistance to fighting in Baghdad than I or anyone else expected, based on heavy fighting that WAS SEEN in other countries. Tell me you forsaw this right? Well son join up cuz they need YOU!

Now Alistar7. If you were paying attention you did not see me saying I EXPECTED to see the Iraqis surrender or not fight. Do you want to claim that the Iraqis threw down their weapons in other cities and not one shot fired? If not then it seems you were in error, since you just stated you expected them to surrender. Oh well, so what? If you were in error, everyone will get over it and move on. Of course you might be one who likes to keep score and tries to rub peoples nose in things and hope no one does the same to you. Be that as it may, if your ego requires it, continue on. I had thought to ask a serious question about something, but decided to delete it in this thread, since this seems to have become an lession for psychology majors in overcompensation. Have fun.

Just to clarify that I do NOT think it is totally over. I'm just happy that the major battle is being won right now and that the people saying the Iraqis didn't want that are proved wrong. There is still they rest of the war and they will have to be cautious but it is downhill from here (the war, not reconstruction).
