They've been through at least two winters (winter when they left the farm and winter at the prison)
I thought the time that passed was established at 18 months.
It's been ~515 days since the outbreak. Season 2 ends in the fall. Season 3 Episode 1 begins in the early spring. Andrea, T-Dog, and Carl each mentioned the winter they just endured.
Currently, we're about 6-7 months removed from when they moved into the prison. So, there was no winter while they were in the prison.

So, damned close to 18 months to the day, is what you're saying?

Childs, please, it's like 17 months at most.

heh...I thought Abraham said he wasted the last two years of his life on the mission. I saw the wiki before I posted and it was 514 days (17 months), but I didn't know who maintains that wiki. Other places say 18 months. 18-24 should have covered it! In any event, its a much shorter time period than I thought. I assumed it was at least 3-4 years.

I'm bored of this,

They always drive the biggest gas guzzlers - FALSE - the prius, daryl's motorcycle - but they do need room for all the people.
They never get sick - FALSE - Umm, did you miss the prison sickness?
They always have bullets
They never bathe - FALSE - didn't they bathe in the CDC?
They rarely get water - FALSE - I've seen them get water quite often.
They rarely eat - FALSE - I've seen them eat quite often
Why would anyone carry only a crossbow or a sword and not have a gun too.

And they never poop! FALSE - at least that one guy was pooping when Rick killed him in that house after the prison.

See bold

Every show I watch should be "fall finale-ing" by the end of next week. Going to be a pretty boring ass Christmas.

Idk about you guys but at least i got Sons Of Anarchy on Tuesday but even that show is ending this week.I thought about getting into Game of Thrones but not sure yet.Better Call Saul comes out i think about the time of the Walking Dead as well too.🙂

I hope the spinoff runs on a different season schedule than the original.

The sure thing would be using the lead-in like NCIS and NCIS: LA, NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans. But they make so much money with low cost Talking Dead that it'd be stupid to bump that. Lead-in for first episode, push it to another day? But AMC shows most of their new stuff on Sunday. Could be a good idea to use it as the in-between during the fall finale and spring premiere, then use a spring finale and summer premiere to finish the season.

Christmas is always a TV dead zone. Nobody watches, so no networks waste new programming. There are a buttload of great series returning in January though:

Archer
Shameless
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
House of Lies
Episodes
Justified
The Americans
Suits
Top Gear (probably)

Then in February The Walking Dead is back, Better Call Saul starts and House of Cards returns. Thanks to the staggered seasons and so many January and summer premieres there's no real down period other than a couple of weeks around Christmas.

I thought about getting into Game of Thrones but not sure yet.
Do it! I'm a big Walking Dead fan, but GoT is on another level, imho.

Fargo and True Detective are other suggestions that may have been overlooked by TWD fans. Each are only one season (with a complete story), and 10/8 episodes respectively. Perfect for the Christmas hiatus.

Game of Thrones is probably the most epic series in the history of television. Everything about it is top notch.

Vikings is another great show. Not quite at the level of GoT but better than Walking Dead IMO.

Fully caught up. Though TBH I'm kinda getting bored of it, but at same time still want to see what happens and how it ends. I find it's just starting to be the same old story, they run into a bunch of jerks that ruin their day. Move on, rinse repeat.

You gonna be waiting a long, long time.

Yeah, but they gotta milk it for all its worth. Can't just end their amazing revenue stream!

I think they hold on to too many old characters. I don't think anyone should be safe. Maybe next season Rick dies from dysentery and there is an internal struggle to see who will lead the group. I dunno, just something to make things interesting again and not so damn predictable.

It's a comic book which still hasn't ended and the author already said he doesn't plan to give it one, so it has had nothing to do with those revenues at this point.

I'm pretty sure this is a common question, but is the show depicting the same or very similar events as the comic book? Are the characters the same?

I love The Walking Dead. It's not perfect and some episodes are weaker than others, but overall it is very entertaining.

But, the killing of countless male characters to further the storyline of females is a-okay! Carol's husband, Shane (to an extent), Bob. Nah, those aren't integral to advancing the story of female characters. Down with the chauvinistic pigs writing this television series!
That had nothing to do with it. Not being part of the group in the comic book, she is obviously inconsequential to the story, so of course she was one they intended to kill off eventually. That's the way it works. Can't kill off a main character yet but need to kill someone that viewers care about? Add extra characters, pump, and dump.

In general. They add extra characters so they can kill them off without affecting the story too much. They pander to the audience by keeping certain characters around longer and giving them a story or two of their own. It has started to deviate a bit more than usual so that they can continue filming in GA.

A lot of what recently happened in the show involved characters which weren't in the comic and the stuff that was has been tweaked to fit their current location. Can't say that I like what the show did to the cannibals they originally encountered on the road (not a sanctuary). Now their tactics to terrorize the group make less sense.

The comic is like the show on fast-forward with a lot less of the stuff that makes you roll your eyes.
