I did think it was idiotic that they went into the building for the trade, you would think it would be done outside on semi-neutral ground. When they were walking up the narrow staircase, it seemed they were ripe for an ambush. Poor execution of a mediocre plan.

KT

That was totally WTF that they would go into the hospital to do the exchange. I expected them to do it at the parking lot or near the front door. Inside the hospital made no sense...

Good thing TV shows don't come here to see how their shows are doing... Every one would shut down ASAP. Ratings for finale:

Is Newnan, GA a nice town to live in? I would imagine the cast and crew would get bored living there.
They live all around Atlanta GMA, though at least three have lived or live here in Newnan. Melissa McBride still lives in Ichinisan's APT building, where I am right now. When Emily cried while remembering hanging out at Melissa's when their 4th of July celebrations got rained out, this is the place.

With neighbor Peachtree City, it's probably the nicest area on the south side but the humidity during the summer (when they do most of their filming) can make it pretty miserable outdoors. Wasn't too bad this past Summer though. Historic Newnan is particularly nice because Newnan didn't get burned on Sherman's March thanks to being a hospital city. Lots of classic homes from architects from around the world, many well over 150 years old, it's why we are known as "The City of Homes."

Certainly never boring. Has lots to do in town and even more 20mins away in Atlanta.

I was surprised that they didn't at least flash the message that the people who the priest (Gabriel) locked out of the church carved into the church while he was locked out. The ironing would be delicious.

I think Morgan was putting things on the alter in the church while praying as almost a symbolic gesture. Maybe it was alluding to those items are how you survive in the world now: food (goo goo cluster), force (bullet), and luck (rabbits foot). Then he looks around and laughs at the absurdity of him praying. Maybe because "what God would let this happen?" or maybe because of the contrast of all of the dead walkers in what's supposed to be a holy place.

Morgan's expression once he saw Rick's name on the map wasn't relief. It would be awesome if they made him an antagonist in the second half of the season. Yeah, he went crazy after his walker wife killed his son. Could he be partially blaming Rick for that now? He'd be a great not-just-a-purely-evil "bad guy" for the show. He's obviously following Rick's group (from outside Terminus, to the school, to the church) by following the marks/cuts on the trees. Who is leaving the marks? It has to be someone in his group, but the only one's who've met him are Rick and Carl. Or did the Termites make the marks on the trees?

I believe that it was the Termites who left those marks, just as a way of navigation.

As for Morgan, I agree that his expression wasn't relief... But I don't think it was antagonistic either. I think it was just surprise. I didn't consider that he might be against Rick, but that could work out entirely awesome.

i sense people getting burnt out on zombies. they're not the menacing threat they once were at the beginning of the series.

Yeah, the zombies at this point are really more just there for window dressing to the human 'drama' than anything else.

Based on the ratings, people are happy with it, but personally I thought it was much more intense and fun to watch when they were actually fighting to survive the zombie situation rather than fighting other humans. Not knowing where they could be safe at any point, and where they'd head to next made it compelling. Still entertaining, but less so now IMO.

Oh, I think in a zombie apocalypse, people would learn pretty quickly how to deal with the undead. The humans would be the real danger.

I don't think so much burnt out as we're past it. Unless you get into a tight spot or run into a herd, they're not much of a thread if you have a knife with you. Like in last week's episode, they let the preacher in the church along with a group of zombies, and they aren't exactly prepared for battle - they have to grab the baby & their weapons and run. How much more can you do with that? They added some napalm zombies for the shock factor, but they're getting slower & skinnier as time goes on, and the supply of fresh people to turn into zombies is dwindling, so I wonder how long they're going to drag out the series, especially since the group doesn't have a clear focus on a goal right now.

I'm hoping they go back to following the idea of solving the zombie problem. They have 2 issues to fix: one, cure the living (so they don't turn into zombies after dying), and two, kill all of the existing zombies. So if they could use Eugene's idea of doing some kind of worldwide aerosol spray that would simultaneously cure & kill, they'd be in business. And Morgan is headed to DC, which means the group will cross into DC at some point to intersect with him. I guess they could also solve it if the virus has an expiration date & people quit turning in zombies, but that'd be kind of lame.

The trouble is finding scientists who can solve this now that we're 2 years into the zombie apocalypse. Like we saw in the jail, if one person in your group dies while they're in a protected area, they can still kill a whole bunch of people (remember the boy in the shower who died of the fever), so they'd need to find a place where people lock themselves in a safe room at night or something. I think a cruise ship would be perfect - on the water away from the zombies, and require that everyone in the group lock themselves in their rooms at night so if they turn, they won't harm anyone else, and you can also go fishing for food.

We'd all get bored to tears if the show was literally nothing but running from zombies. We can handle the zombie escapes with glee right now, because it isn't the main focus of every episode.

It's something that, by now, survivors simply deal with and, more often than not, avoid.

There's no way such a story is ever told, in any media format, without a compelling human drama to drive the plot. That's simply how things work, and it's why we get involved. Otherwise, we won't care when the characters do deal with zombies. And in reality, other humans are the danger we all face every day. Zombies add a change of pace, but they still have to face other humans on occasion, and deal with their unpredictability.

I'm bored of this,

They always drive the biggest gas guzzlers
They never get sick
They always have bullets
They never bathe
They rarely get water
They rarely eat
Why would anyone carry only a crossbow or a sword and not have a gun too.

And they never poop!

I found the last episode boring. Season 5 is my least favorite of the all. I'm still waiting for an OMG moment apart from having known characters die stupid deaths...

Hope the second half will be better.

So you would rather have a show that wastes what, a quarter of it, every episode showing the mundane tasks of everyday life? If you want to see people taking a dump there are whole internet sites for that 😀

With most of the population no longer driving, gas isn't exactly hard to come by. The only issue is exactly how long it would last sitting in a car tank, but it's only been like 18 months.
Again, it has been 18 months. Why would they get sick?
Bullets aren't exactly hard to come by when you're running into (and killing) an armed group ever like 3 weeks.
Nobody ever bathes or goes to the bathroom in TV. Does that mean they don't do it offscreen?

Those would certainly be some things to look into if the producers ever felt the need to reduce ratings.

What about the 1st couple of episodes?

We must not be watching the same show.

-They drive what they can salvage. Daryl/Merle's motorcycle was pretty fuel efficient as was that product-placement Hyundai they used a lot last season. I have problems with the way their salvage is typically depicted ("just add a little water to that dead battery!"), but diesels would be the way to go and often are, like the firetruck and the church bus. Diesel doesn't go bad nearly as fast as typical gasoline because there is no Ethanol.
-They get sick all the time. I'm sick of seeing them wonder what kind of sickness someone has. Are you watching the same show?
-They focus on ammo collection and preservation and still run out of ammo pretty often. It's constantly discussed. Even broken bolts for Daryl's crossbow has been discussed and it has been shown with only a few spares for quite some time. They show him recovering them all the time.
-They have been depicted bathing multiple times. Even in the first episode, Morgan, Risk, and the boy all bathe at the police station. Hell, that one kid died while bathing when he died in "30 Days Without an Accident."
-They have been depicted collecting water multiple times. Remember Rosita showing them how to filter water with a trick Eugene told her? It was in the same episode that Maggie salvaged water from the fire engine.
-They scavenge for food constantly. Heck, it was the first thing the priest asked for when they encountered each other. Daryl was eating chips with Carol when they were holed up in the domestic abuse shelter. The cannibals ate humans. The doctor ate guinea pig with Beth. Morgan set food down at the altar in the church.
-They almost always have guns in addition to their melee weapons and crossbow. They are usually shown putting them away to conserve ammo or only using them for the first shot or two before falling back to their other weapons.
-Taking a poop/pee has been depicted so many times that it has gotten boring when something usually happens to them or the group while they are away. Still, they've discussed it at least a couple times already this season.

They have used smaller cars before.
Half the people at the prison got sick.
Bullets are easy to find, and they only use them when they must.
Kid in the prison died in the shower. Seem to remember other episodes mentioning running water for showers.
Showed well on the farm and devices to catch rain at the prison. Also have showed feeling up bottles from creeks even toilet tanks.
Showed a large meal at the prison and on the farm. Also showed them cooking food at various camp sites.
Daryl has a gun. Did you forget Dawn already.
Remember the refrigerator room the prisoners had been using as a bathroom when Rick found them.

So, you can still watch it now. You just need to be more observant..

While he is dead wrong, you are using the wrong argument for most of those. 😉

They've been through at least two winters (winter when they left the farm and winter at the prison) and they have been sick many times. While they do get them from other groups bullets are hard to come by, which is why Glen said that the only stuff left to find is hidden (when he found some recently with a couple silencers). They have bathed, urinated, and dedicated more times than I can count in this series. There have been even more references, like the freezer being their latrine when the prisoners were locked in the cafeteria/kitchen.

I thought the time that passed was established at 18 months. And, they collect ammunition / guns / supplies from the groups, while conserving what they already have.

They have dedicated some time to relieving themselves and bathing, but focusing on that just makes for bad TV. And, constantly showing "supply runs" would be so incredibly boring. We don't need every episode to be "monster of the week", in which the monster is one of the characters goofs on a supply run.

They use the time in between seasons as "real time, we just weren't watching". While it can make for some odd questions, it handles aging actors, especially young ones much easier. I like this approach.

It seems like the accepted timeline is 18-24 months.
