so we now have confirmation that the zombies do not have superhuman strength against living human flesh. the ease with which Merle and "what's your name again?" dispatched their dead comrades was the proof. merles blade went through that guy's skull like it was warm butter.

hey now, are only "older" cars manual transmission? i will never buy another automatic, not until all the manual options are completely gone.

same here.. they still make manuals on ALL popular sports cars in 2013 even..

Automatics are for grocerygetters or soccer moms.
I will never own a sports car with a auto.

It made me laugh. She was shot in the leg and thus limping. When the first herd went past her I was like NO WAY that is way too convenient that she was covered in zombie goo and limping like a zombie.

Well, manual are increasingly less common in 'Merka and one wonders if newer ones are gimped against push-starting. There is often a clutch/ignition interrupt to prevent lurching forward with the starter motor. I too prefer a stick-shift even when a DSG has slightly better performance and equivalent economy (not keen on paddle-shift).

You can't push start a fuel injected MT car if the battery is completely dead. You need a bit of juice left to power the ECU and fuel pumps. But I think a healthy battery would retain enough to do that for at least 6-12 months.

It's a good thing as manual ones suck and while I am glad I tried one but I never want to go back.

Ah so. Perhaps if not direct injection then fuel could be added manually to start (or even anyway via throttle body?) and maybe ECU vary in degree of necessity over the years or their minimal power requirement could temporarily be jerry rigged from another source (i.e. small battery or solar charger).

I should have said lurching period whether forward or back; and the more common term is bump-starting rather than push-starting, which I now recall doing for giggles despite a clutch switch.

Contrary to some folks above, I thought this was a good episode, if somewhat predictable.

Awhile back I had a car that was parked for 5 years with 1/4 of a tank of gas left in it. I didn't care because I only kept the car for the engine. I went to move it to my buddy's shop and loaded it on the trailer to take it over. When I got there I asked him for help to push it off and into the back. He handed me one of those mini jump start battery packs and told me to drive it off and park it. I told him it had been sitting for 5 years with the gas in it...he said it would be fine. I primed the fuel system with several cycles of the key and it started right up, idled high for a few seconds until the choke period was up, and then settled down and idled perfectly fine. It was smooth and quiet. I drove it right off the trailer and parked it. I am not saying this stale old gas would net you the same power as fresh but the car ran and drove fine.
 
irony for michon: she goes to a place with a creepy governor where everything looks fantastic and is told she's free to leave. she ends up going to a prison with a trustworthy ricktator where things look horrible and she's told she can't leave and she is held captive.
