The V is getting more grunt

One of the guys brought his '05 out to the dyno event Saturday, it made 320 at the wheels bone stock, and they ran it to the rev limiter in 5th and the 'other' limiter in 6th. That was insane!

That's it? You sure that wasn't a V6? :hmm:

Can't be. The V6s didn't put out that much power in that gen. Something like 250hp if I remember correctly.

But this implies the cts v on the dyno was running poorly? I mean 400hp at the crank from the factory has to be better than 320 at the wheels if the dyno was calibrated correctly and the car was in good shape.

Yeah I'm pretty sure my LS1 makes that at the wheels and I have barely anything done to it.

They were supposed to make 400 from the factory, no way that changes to 320 at the wheels.

This is VERY old news...the second iteration had most hovering around 300RWHP, the Z06's didn't fare much better. It was the whole Ford Cobra outcry again.

With a typical 15% drivetrain loss the best the 400HP CTS-V could hope for is 340RWHP. Someone getting 320 is actually doing better than average.

With a few basic bolt ons though the proper power is restored.

The owner, who had a lot of experience on dynos in general was not surprised.
Rev limiter in 5th was 160 MPH, and in 6th it just stopped at 180! 😵

Today is the day. Just did the first round of dyno pulls and the car is around 485hp stock. That pretty much dead on with a 13% loss over what the engine is rated at. I will post a video of the pull once it's uploaded from my phone.

yup. stock LS1s were doing 290-300, the 385 hp variant LS6's were doing 320-330, which is good.

the LS1 fbodys got the best 'deal' doing 290+ at a claimed 320-330 hp

Nice... I like the desert eagle clip too.

The Desert Eagle was pretty funny. A co-worker who never shot before wanted to give it a try. He's now a gun enthusiast for life.

Just got the final pull done. Base was 470HP/457TQ @8.5psi with just a couple adjustments to the A/F mixture to smooth out the curve. After the pulley and tune it did 520HP/524TQ @11.5psi. The crazy part was an 80TQ gain at just 3k rpm which will help get the big car moving. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the number considering it was 96 degrees out and the dyno room was pretty hot. I will post up the dyno once I get the scanner hooked up.

This ain't your Honda buddy, you aren't ready to roll with the big dogs. :awe:

lol. I probably would either burn the clutch out trying to take a left turn at an intersection. Or just sit there spinning wheels and burning rubber.

The fastest car I have ever driven is an Acura RDX...

It's actually very easy to drive. My gf has taken it out and not had any issues.

Here is the dyno for today. Once again, it was around 96 out and the dyno room was pretty warm as well.
