Here is the dyno for today. Once again, it was around 96 out and the dyno room was pretty warm as well.

Doesn't sound much different besides the supercharger spinning up faster at the beginning and building up more at the end.

Can you just pop a 160 thermostat in it? Are you using the factory PROM/ECM?

Yes, I had a 160 thermostat put in and then the tune was adjusted for it. I'm running the factory E67 ECM, which according to the tuner is the "Cadillac" of ECM's for GM.

I'd love to get a CTS-V coupe, but I'm more than happy with what I have now. Followed a V coupe down Woodward. They look great in person.

There is a big difference with a forged piston and a cast one as far as how it sounds cold. There are things you can do sometimes to minimize that noise.

It's unappealing to many, much like putting a race exhaust on a luxury car.

Yeah... I finally figured this out with my 2008 and now my 2010 Altima. For years I was trying to figure it out and kept saying "it sounds like piston slap, but it's brand new, it can't be." Then I saw a thread on a Nissan forum where a guy was asking if he should upgrade to forged pistons since he was tearing into the engine already and someone mentioned that the factory uses forged pistons.

Forged pistons or forged rods? I didn't know the VQ35DE came with forged pistons stock.

QR25DE pistons... and that's what I was told. It explained the excessive piston slap when cold so I didn't question it. I can't seem to find any info on the Internet about it, though.

Ok. The last upgrade of the year has arrived. Hopefully I can get it into the shop soon for the install and another dyno tune. I decided to go with Kooks and got them Jet Hot 1700 Silver coated. I will retain the stock mufflers as they don't have much restriction.
