A good place for a memory foam mattress is here : http://www.foam-fabrication.com/mattress.html
I bought their king matress 'kit' about 2 or 3 months ago - the thing is friggin awesome! For $480 you get a 5" foam base, and a 3" 5.5lbs memory foam upper, and a zipup cover.
The 5.5 memory foam is fairly firm and nice an supportive, but is amazingly soft and comfortable. We've been sleeping much better than on our previous old 10 year old Ikea mattress.
The old mattress went into the guest room, and we got a 2.5" 4lbs topper for it from costco. I find the costco topper a bit too soft - not enough support - though guests found it better than the old matress on its own at least
The kit is basically the same as the Bergad Isoform mattress ( http://bergad.com/mattress.html ), except for the two foam sections not being glued together (which could be a bonus as you could always replace the upper) - the foam-fabrication site is their custom foam shop. Also saves over $300 from the ready built mattress, and god knows how much over a tempurpedic equivalent.
Shipping on the King was $100 to go right accross the country - if you're east coast it'd be cheaper.
Putting the two foam sections together in the cover was pretty easy - though having a second person to help was useful - certainly worth the $300 saving
