I just picked up one of the Wal-Mart "Body Impressions" for $18.44, and a Novaform, from Costco. I like the Body Impressions better than the Novaform, by far. The Body Impressions is stiffer than the Novaform.


Note: I've also got a TempurP that's getting on in the years - I like neither as much as this one, but, hey, the others are a quarter the price...

They also have a
1.75 inch topper for $59.99

Double the savings (25%) compared to amount of material lost (12.5%)

Obviously a cheap person could cut/fold a king in half and have a 3.5 inch twin topper.
I wonder if it would be possible even to do this for a larger bed, since it seems that only the spinal area really needs form-fitting support. Maybe you could just put some kind of cheaper material under the legs and pillows, just to even things out.

This

is what I used with the same base as you bought. Slept on it for 2 years now, and will not go back to a regular mattress. You can get cheaper pads, but not better. I used coupons and free shipping at the time to get the price down much lower. All that is needed is the 2 inches of the Isotonic when the base is is what you have.

I was in Wal*Mart tonight and saw the Body Impressions Pillow. I decided to buy one because it looked tempting (nice packaging).

I just took it out of the bag and started squeezing it. This thing would make a good hand workout. It's by far the most stiff memory foam pillow I've ever squeezed. I don't know how anyone could sleep on it. It's like a brick! It doesn't even feel like memory foam to me...more like foam they use in a firm mattress or shipping foam.

Interestingly enough though, it does have the "new memory foam smell" that I like. It's like a drug.

Needless to say, my Sensus pillow is quite safe from being knocked off its throne, and the Body Impressions will be returning to Wal*Mart.

Have a 3" Premier Plus memory foam topper from Sleepwarehouse that is 4.5lb density

I need to replace the mattress that it is on. I've been looking at FoamByMail.com and getting a 5" HD36 which is 2.8 lb/ft3 density with a 38lb ILD.

That would give me an 8" mattress. About $140 shipped for the foam mattress. Just worried about the quality. Memoryfoam.com has latex bases, but it's almost 3x the price...

Anyone have built one yet? Everyone I've read seems to have them on order from Foambymail...just wondering how this "build your own" turns out...
 
Hey Bruno, I just ordered the hemmingway mattress kit from memoryfoam.com. It uses 2" of 15 ILD and 4" of 32 ILD Resilitex for the support layer and 3" of 13 ILD Sensus for the top layer. This was less expensive than the latex offerings.

After navigating their website, they seemed more professional than foambymail and also had a better return policy (longer I think). I'll post how it is once I get it. Please share your experiences with foambymail. I may go with them for a guest bed. Good luck!

I bought a Queen 3" 4lb mf mattress topper for $129 (w/free holiday shipping) from Sleepwarehouse.com and love it. Excellent price, shipped in about 3 days, and have never slept better.

I used to roll around alot, but now without the annoying pressure points, I sleep very well, rarely move, and rarely wakeup.
 
Alright, so I'm looking at buying a Tempur-Pedic mattress. We went and tried several mattresses out, and there was a clear, night and day, difference between the Tempur-Pedic and other major brands as far as the mattresses were conserened. And between the 3" and 4" Tempur-Pedic mattresses there was also a big difference. The 4" TP you really sink into, whereas the 3" you don't really sink into that much. To us it felt as if you sunk that whole extra inch (and maybe then some) into the 4" pad. The end feel is a not-so-suttle difference between the two.

The store we were at had ~12% price increase for bottom line price they will sell at. So let's call it 10% off marked prices for below

4" Full/Double - $1620 (from $1804 marked)
3" Full/Double - $1295 (from $1449 marked)

The pillows were $100 a piece.

I didn't take the time to test the differences in the pillows, but I will say the TP ones felt about half again a heavy (taking one of those to a pillow fight is like using a fire hose as a water gun! 🙂 )

When I talked to a sales rep, they said that they just had a sales rep. buy for training last week ( along with new beds for the floor!). They used to have somthing in the foam that asorbed and held heat, but they took it out, so the new TP beds (maybe pillows?) no longer keep heat like they used to. But they added a heat pad option or something of the like.

I haven't gone through the thread at all yet, I might try and work my way through it but 60 pages is insane for a thread, someone who keeps up with the topic should retire this one and consolidate the info into a new one... I would, but I have those months where I just forgot to keep up with my visiting. Infact, if somone would like, I'll consolidate the info and PM it to them for the start of a new thread if they take the time to keep up with the topic and wouldn't mind the upkeep of the thread.

hm.. 3" 4lb and and 2" 5lb both $80 (twin size).

which one is better to get?
 
What's the word on sleepwarehouse.com, jjsole... so would you recommend their products? Good quality, last a long time, density, size, etc? Let's say, in comparison to what you might get from overstock.com (3" thick, 4lbs density).

My parents got a queensize from overstock.com for their bed but apparently they tell me it's a few inches too SHORT(!) width and lengthwise even though they ordered the right size (Queen for Queen). Is this typical of online vendors?

Did anyone experience this with sleepwarehouse.com products?

i ordered the 2" foam for $39, but i dont remember it saying it;s density. got a link that said what density it is?
 
I got a 2" Tempsoma queen mattress with a down cover for $129 from Sams club as well as a pillow for $28. Both are 4 lb density and are very good quality but the mattress was vacuum packed and it takes days to regain it's normal shape, it's been about 5 days and it's still not all the way there.

@Jedi: http://www.sleepwarehouse.com/...=VIEWPROD&amp;ProdID=1 is the 4lbs, 2" density from there.
 
Well, this thread sucked me in. Now you all have me looking around for the best foam pillow. I have narrowed it down to three so far, Spa Sensations contoured (~$18)and traditional shaped (~$12) pillows, and SleepInnovations Personal Expressions traditional shaped (red box $34.99). Didn't really like the contoured type, traditional more my taste. The $12 one is really not too bad, the Personal Expressions is heavier, bigger, and has that sink in feel. Looking to find a Carpenter PP and I'll decide. I'm only picking out the best I can find retail. Makes it easier for me to weigh, measure, test, return, etc.

Next will be the search for the mattress pad. This I will have to just pick one online.
 
OK, about 35 pages into this thread I realized I'm way past bedtime (yay for coffee)... In any case.

Looking both at the topics here (upto where I've read) I'm interested in getting one of the foam toppers. I just recently moved to a new area though, and only have some coleman travel-type air mattress and a twin-size futon that I may be able to borrow from a friend's that I am staying at the moment... I recall seeing a post on memoryfoam.net about possible tears occurring if these are used on futon mattresses, and some other things saying these may be good for air mattresses to add extra comfort.

I'm assuming the 'air mattresses' that's referred to are the pricier kinds that allow for pressure adjustments on the fly, not the portables that might be used on a camping trip or something of that sort. Would getting a topper for something like this be a bad idea?
 
I see that Overstock.com has a 10% off special today and $1 shipping in March. They have a Micro-Memory Foam Pillow
for $29.99 (before the 10% discount).

How does this stack up against the other pillows out there? Is this a good deal? Thanks.

Edit: WTH, to me it looks better than what I'm seeing on eBay. I bought it, $27.99 shipped.

Edit2: No crackers in my bed.

Are you referring to the reviews at the site? They say they are "selected" reviews, which I take to mean they weed out the neutral or negative ones. Anyway, I went for it. Hope they are good.
