I have the novaform pillow, and its relatively soft - which a lot of people seem to like. Having said that, based on my four purchases, I recommend the Comfort Zone pillow found at SmartBargains. Its much firmer, and seems like better quality to me than anything else I have tried. Some people did not like it because it is firm. At least with this pillow, I dont need another pillow to prop my head up........its the only pillow I need. My head molds to the foam very nicely, and I have also found that I dont sweat using the pillow. All in all I like it. Hope this helps!

Thanks for all this good information after spending a hour reading it I determined to get myself a pillow.

Went to LNT and found they were closing up everything clearenced thought I get a good deal but alas no pillows. Went to Bed bath and beyond here in the bay area, Found the Tempur-pedic pillow and the perfect pillow felt them both out. You can tell the tempur is high quality after feeling the other, unforently don't have the cash for it. Went to wallmart on my way to costco, found a 20 pillow advertising nasa foam technology, it felt almost like a down pillow.

So went to costco and tried the novaform, and to my unprofesional judgement it ranks above the perfect pillow, and is a bit cheaper. So Went home with that.

Next on my list is the mattress pads that were on sale at BB&Y very very nice. Thanks for all the hard testing work and information, I've been sleeping good for two weeks because of it :)

i came across this thread a few weeks ago and read through most of it, but mainly just wanted to see what the opinions were about the Novaform Naturals pillows.

i was looking at getting the goose down covered contour pillow mentioned recently from smartbargains, but then i came across the naturals pillow, which has the smart foam core and i guess a large down surrounding. i usually sleep on my stomach, so im not too sure if i want a contoured pillow. i guess what im asking is how this would compare to the other pillows being mentioned

thanks

Grabbed the $45 pillow from PillowPedic based on Atrac's glowing recommendation.

I'll give a report in a week ;)

One note on the PillowPedic Pillow -- don't wash/dry the cover! I made the mistake of doing so and it ended up coming out of the dryer about have the size that it was! I emailed the seller about it and he said he would send me a free replacement cover, but to next time dry clean it only! ;)

I have to say that I'm quite impressed that he would do that though.

this is a follow-up to my post dated 04/10/2003 5:41 PM...

I would not recommend buying from Comforthouse.com. I returned a pillow and was charged a 25% restocking fee that is not specifically mentioned anywhere on its return policy webpage. I ordered from this place cause I liked the idea of being able to return something I didn't like. well, apparently I can return orders, but will be gutted in the process. not cool...

Looks like my local Costco sold out on their supply of the pillows. However, I saw a stack of queen sized, 2" foam pads for $100 less $.01 today. These were not there last friday. Since they were boxed, I was unable to touch the pad to find out how soft or rigid they are. If anyone purchases one please let us know what you think of it.

slightly off topic. but i'll give it a shot. thanks guys.

i've recently just purchased a Queen size bed through Sleepys, and i've always wondered about the "NASA memory foam", since last i recall Brookstones were selling the matresses like well over 1100. it was out of question for me. but i end up spending 950 on the matresses and box set from sleepys for something i really liked. quite perfect feeling, softness and firmness everything was just right. so i bought it thinking this is the best i can get for now.

ok my real questions are, i just found the queen size "NASA bed" for about 750 from pillowpedic, this obviously is cheaper than what i spent at sleepys. So i would like to know what are the true pros and cons between conventional bed and this "NASA bed". since i don't feel that i can get a true feeling of lying on the bed in Brookstone (i live in a busy area and there's always about 20 patrons at any given time in the store, and always someone else want to try the bed, so i can't lie on there for more than 5 minutes w/o being an ass), it is hard for me to personal test which one i like better.
same pros and cons for the pillow also please.

also i might add. i forgot the brand of the matress i bought, but that was one of the top of line in the store, i think they are a sub company of king's down.

The $30 Simmons 1.75" thick "Thera Foam" mattress pads @SteinMart can be had for $16.77-$27.77, depending on size, @ Wallyworld, online or in the stores, as Wal-Mart Item #: 002220810. :D:beer:

Has anyone compared Mark's std overlay and Memoryfoamsuperstore's? Based on stats, Mark's is a lighter density (3.3 vs 4), although I don't know how much difference that makes in feel. Also, has anyone tried the Sensus 5.0 density foam from memoryfoam.com? I'm going to be getting a pad soon, I'm just trying to figure out which one I should get.

So far, the "perfect pillow" I got at SteinMart is working well.
I got it for $25.67 after the coupon (expired now)
& sales tax.

Its been a week with the perfect pillow. This is my first foam pillow. I cant say that it made any diffference in my sleeping, or that it is more comfortable than my regular pillow. I wouldnt consider the perfect pillow cheaply made, the foam seems to bounce back quicky, and has good consistency, but the thickness is not the same as a large fluffy pillow. If you are not a back sleeper, and like to have a big pillow, to wrap around, or prop your head, the perfect pillow may not be for you.

I agree, wish it was about 1.5 times as thick.
I think 2 times would be too thick.
Thought about buying another one and cutting it in half, then putting half of it in the pillow case with this one. It'd be alot of work & would probably shread around the edges really fast.

Okay, it's been awhile since I read through this thread and I don't remember if I've seen this company mentioned or not.

I've been offered a complete bedroom set, my only problem is that it doesn't have a mattress. Looking through the classifieds, I found a place that has a full queen memory foam mattress set for $595. I believe that's a fairly decent price. He didn't know who made the mattress so gave me the factory number and this is what I was able to find out.

The foam is a 4.0 density 3" thick visco layer made by Newfoam (that may not be the correct spelling). The base layer is a 1.0 density 6" thick layer. The foam has an elastic cover over it that closes with a zipper. Um, probably a few other details that I missed but that the gist of it.

I'm going to go check it out today, but I was wondering if anyone has any kind of experience with that company's foam products or if the bed makeup/price sounds about right.

Also, on another note, I was in Wal-Mart yesterday and found a huge stack of what claimed to be smart foam pillows. No idea about the price. But when I checked them out, it didn't feel like viscoelastic foam. Since nobody was around I unzipped the cover and checked the foam. Sure enough it was just standard foam. I'm not sure how they can even BEGIN to claim that they're viscoelastic foam. There was nothing visco about it at all. So, if you see them there, beware.

First off, "memoryfoam.com" IS Mark's Bedding, not the Sensus 5.0. The Sensus is found in the Memory Foam Super Store.

I have tried a number of pads and pillows - most of them being less dense, probably 3lbs or less. They felt pretty good when I first got them, but the amount of support I preferred was not good. I recently purchased the "Comfort Zone" pillow which I believe is 4 lbs density, and I really like it. It is firm and very supportive. Some people have thought it was too "hard" but for my tastes it was great. I do not have to prop it up with another pillow or my arm, and it still is soft enough to form nicely around my head - and I find that I dont sweat using it.

I am considering getting a very nice mattress topper - at least 4 inches thick. Based on my experience with pillows I would definitely be looking for a pad that had 5 lbs density. I can only imagine what it would be like to have my whole body on a 4 lb density pad, and I am pretty sure I would want something a little more firm for my whole body to lay on. The 5 lb memory foam mattress topper is about $150 more than the 4lb, but I would personally spend the extra cash.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the opinion on the 5lb. I'm thinking about getting it; I guess it will just come down to the ILD of the 5lb and 3" or 4" thickness.

Not to sound like an ass, but Mark (memoryfoam.com) DOES sell the Sensus 5.0 in addition to his own 3.3lb stuff (here)

*Edit: The Sensus has an ILD of 15, Mark's 3.3 has an ILD of 13. I think the greater density will be worth it vs the lower density and less firmness.

I stand corrected - Mark's Bedding does carry this mattress pad. There is a $2 price difference between the two websites which is insignificant, and they both offer free shipping.

One thing I noticed is that you can buy an Eastern King 5lb 2" pad for $187.95 at the Memory Foam Superstore, and $189.95 at Mark's Bedding. If you buy two of the 2" mattress pads you can save $30 or more over buying one king 5lb 4" mattress topper. Does anyone have an opinion of buying two, 2" pads instead of one 4" pad? I would imagine that since they are both 5lb density that putting two mattress pads together should be the same as one 4" pad, but I have no idea. If this makes sense maybe it is a good idea to buy two and save $30 or $32. More money in my pocket is always better than in someone else's pocket!!:Q:D

Ideas anyone?
