yeah i did use the same voltage for both, never would even get into windows

Can you post a link for Nvidia drivers for the 650i
My P5B deluxe does Super Pi at 425x8 1mb in 16.35sec

dang thats a great time :)

BTW what voltage do you have set in your bios to run in that speed?? i think you have one cherry cpu there. and what voltage is listed in cpu-z under full load? or fanspeed.

here's a link for the nvidia drivers. for the mobo. you still have to use the cd for any non nvidia hardware. i usually install windows, use these drivers, then any thing that comes up as being found but has no driver then i use the mobo cd for those.

32bit Nforce drivers for 650i SLI and 650i Ultra

64bit Nforce drivers for 650i SLI and 650i Ultra

I am pretty good at taking that battery out now. I even kept that lolly pop stick in my tool bag
My P5B Deluxe is one sec faster in Super Pi's 3DMarks are close I'd give the edge to the P5N-E

i tell ya what once was too many for me :) i was starting to sweat a little on that one.

ive reverted to a nice and leisurely 3.390ghz lol lets me keep my cpu and nb cooler with a very minimal performance drop. once we get a new bios i think i'm gonna ramp it up again and see what it can really do.

Yea, me to. Four times I had to reset last night. We have some good options in the 400 - 500 range no need to go to crazy 425 - 440 are nice settings. I don't pop the battery out all the way any more I just push that clip down until the batt pops up and push on one edge so it not making contact and than reset and just push the batt back in till clicks. done

these are the cpu speeds i have found that people may want to stay away from

1650 (412 quad) with 7 multi very bad things happen 2.884ghz
1650 (412 quad) with 8 multi very bad things happen 3.296ghz
1800 (450 quad) with 7 multi works perfectly 3.150ghz
1800 (450 quad) with 8 multi very bad things happen 3.600ghz

i have gone higher and lower than these values with both 7 and 8 multi's and this board has worked like a charm. i have been stable up to:

2000 (500 quad) with 7 multi solid as a rock 3.500ghz
1850 (462 quad) with 8 multi solid as a rock 3.696ghz

mem was unlinked to 800mhz all timings and voltage for it were set to auto. the highest i had to set my vCore to was 1.5250 in bios. northbridge was set at 1.39 until 1950 (487 quad)

For the P5N -E SLI voltages are listed in my sig. Drop is about .05 1.325 = 1.28 under load. P5B Deluxe is vcore 1.325 vdimm 2.1 NB 1.45 SB 1.2 and about the same drop .05
Thanks for the links.

i'm not sure whats best with the board other than the ones listed in the manual. I know some people have experienced issues running some mem at manufacturer suggested timings. mine have been fine in that respect. i havent seen a lot of performance increase or decrease regarding timings, so the cheapest set listed in the manual may be the best bet. here's a link for the manual.

P5N-E SLI Manual

Thanks,

Yeah I downloaded the Manual the other day. Just wasnt sure if someone has had better luck with one brand vs another. Looks like any 4-4-4-12 will be compatible.

I ran it installed everything except SW driver and the Firewall manager. Driver dates in hardware manger are still showing 02/06 so I don't know what it updated. Still seems less responsive compared to the P5B but, not bad

If you like Cosair the plain PC6400 512a or the 1024 5-5-5-12 work as good if not better than the C4's 4-4-4-12

I got 14s for 1M SuperPi with both Cores running 1 Application of Super Pi. When I run 2 Applications and set Affinity to each I get 18s.
And improvement over the orgininal times of 16s and 19s respectively.

My settings:
6600 (9 multi) x 1600FSB.
vCore @ 1.4 +100mv in Bios.
NB @ ~1.5 in Bios.
Memory timings:
5-4-4-12-1T @ 2.2v Crucial Ballistix!

The big difference was running at 1T. Initially it was unstable at 4-4-4-12-1T so I upped the first number to 5 like Core2 has his and BAM! Faster SuperPi.
Now to go catch up to my friends in 3DMark06 (My Score 11207) and Aquamarks ( My Score 178,977) with my 8800GTX. Before I ws a few hundred points off from my friends rig with the 680i chipset same CPU, but with Corsair Ram. Only real difference I noticed was the 1T.

Here's some Aquamarks results:

4-4-4-12-2T @ 2.2v Crucial Ballistix!

And got this:
http://www.classifiedfotos.com/files/TMC/AquaMark3.jpg

Then I reran with new memory timings
5-4-4-12-1T @ 2.2v Crucial Ballistix!
and got this:

Good to know. I usually do go with Corsair's, but I was leaning towards Crucial for this build judging by what I ve read around the boards. This is my first Intel build, the C2's have pulled me to the darkside, so I'm in learning mode again.

Thanks for the help.

I would think your extra L2 4mb Cache will kept us from beating those numbers. Will try that 1T recommendation.
Thanks

Tried 5-4-4-12 1T would boot had to raise the volts When I got to windows it crashed
Also NB temps jumped up 10f
Maybe 5-5-5-12 1T would work didn't try it

This is my first Intel build also. I have never seen a CPU overclock like these. They are absolutely amazing........ the dark side isn't so bad after all. lol

I can't get Speedfan to work for my cpu fan with this motherboard. It works fine with the chasis fans. My cpu fan is a 3 pin fan and not a 4 pin one.. does that make the difference?

Assuming it does, is there something I can do to get it to work?

You can connect it to a 3 pin header or get an adapter for the four pin header or have some one make you one up . I just trim the tabs off the back of the plug and plug it in BUT, you have to know where it goes HOT(YELLOW) GROUND (BLACK) RPM (RED usually) or else you could cook your board. What color are the wires for the fan?

Where would I go about getting or building an adapter? Just to be clear, we are not talking a FAN 3pin to molex 4pin connecter.... I want a FAN 3PIN to FAN 4pin with the PWM wire... I realize this requires some logic of sorts.

my fan has a four pin, scythe infinity. just hooked it up like normal, 3 pin with one sticking off the plug. has a channel so even nimrods like me can't goof it up :D

sorry i'm a moron. wrong computer. i put the intel fan on my other pc. so it was a 4 pin plug to a 3 pin adapter

what do you all think of using something like this to blow air on the northbridge heatsink?

http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=75018#

Also, I read here to use the black slots when running two sticks of ram to help stability. Well when I did it caused all kinds of stability problems. My system has been a lot more stable running sticks right next to each other (1 black, 1 yellow). Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

This thread has been amazing so thanks to everyone for all the help and suggestions.

I have been having some weird behavior trying to set memory...

In BIOS, I set 5-5-5-15 2T at 2.178V. AI tuning is Manual and other settings I can think of, needed to control these timings are set, but no matter what, when I boot into windows, run CPU-Z and Speedfan 4.32beta8, I see 5-7-7-14-2T at 1.8v.

Am I missing something? What do I need to do to control timings? What is causing them to change? When I go back to BIOS--they are at my settings. Anyway, weird.

Until I get past this, I don't want to do much oc'ing...

from what i understand, if u run different colors slots, u're not running them in dual channel mode.

i was having these same issues when i first started, i think basically the board is changing ur settings to what it thinks will be stable. try setting your nb voltage to 1.39V and try those memory timings again at the same voltage u have.

i have my nb volt set at 1.563 now and u can see what i've been able to pull on the oc in my sig. i have my mem in the black slots.

i tried setting 5-5-5-15-1T tonight and wasnt stable. dont think i can get any type of stability running the mem at 1T.

just started playin with my setup tonight and i gotta say that coretemp proggie seems way off. it gives me 55 & 57 c temps for my cores while asus probe gives me 42c. my ninja feels cool to the touch everywhere i touch it. i think coretemp is fubared on my rig.

core temp reads the actual temp of the individual cores. it is generally 10C higher than what asus probe reads. the core temp is a lot more important to use when overclocking. I've ben as high as 69C on core 1 and 70C on core 2 without any stability issues. Asus probe read 59C.

what mem frequency are you running? what is recommended voltage for that mem? also i have noticed at least with mine, that leaving vdimm set to auto seemed to work best. not sure why though. haven't been able to find a prog to read what it really is when set to auto or anything else for that matter.

BTW i would recommend bumping your mem voltage up to 2.259. seems like it is 2.2v
