man, you rule...

I am not done reading it, but this bad boy beats the ultra D? Cause I know this board got sick timings with the BH5 and TCCD ram, but how is everything else?

So how effective do you guys think that heatpipe will be? I'm jostling between this and the A8N Premium. The ASUS looks to be a better cooler but its also $50 more expensive and I'm never going to use SLI.

If you read the review the heatpipe is very useful, although you could take the thermal pad off the northbridge that is uses and put on thermal paste to increse cooling.

Dinos, what kind of RAM do you reccommend? I see you're running the Corsair TWINX. Thinking about sticking in a 3200+ Venice and would like to get decent O/Cing.

should be sweet.....let us know how you go....yeah my corsair RAM is UTT...i guess you can get other brands in US....you guys have a much better choice and nicer prices....CPUs are the tough ones...some are better than others....if you've got an opportunity to buy a few CPU and pick the best one that is recommended...I did that for my setup.

I am in the process of deciding a motherboard for my system. I'm torn between thsi and the A8N-E from Asus. Is this board stable since it hit the states? Anyone have any experiences with that?
The main thing that is turning me down from the Asus board is the instability due to the northbridge fan.

I should be getting AN8 Ultra today or tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes with a new Venice 3000+

Got mine yesterday and have been tinkering with it ever since.

One problem: Whenever my system soft resets, it'll hang up. I read on the abit forums to lower the HT for the chipset and the problem stopped...but any idea how this would affect performance? Any other ways to circumvent this?

Also, what would be the easiest way to overclock this board? I'm running a San Diego 3700.

what was your HT at when it failed and what did you set it to for stable operation?

HT has a minimal effect on peformance. I couldn't see any hit with my system at 3x vs 4x. There is no need to go lower than 3x. Try to use a multiplier that will keep the speed under 1000MHz.

HT was set to Auto and HT Width was set to 16/16 (caused system crash with resets)
Current stable settings are HT: 1.5 and HT Width: 8/16....what should I hike up?

Also, my chipset cooler is hot to the touch. I replaced the thermal pad with some thermal paste, so is having a hot heatsink good since it means it's absorbing all the heat?

Reload the BIOS. Reset CMOS to default. Set HT multiplier to 3x, RAM to DDR333 (5:6 memory divider), Vcore to 1.5V, VDDR to 2.7V, and FSB to 215MHz. Test system using Prime95 at max heat for 5 min. If okay, then bump up another 1MHz FSB. Keep an eye on the CPU temp when you run Prime95. Keep the temp under 55C at 25C room temp.

wow, your northbridge is running that hot huh? You should try to get some type of active cooling on that OTES system. I think you can buy the fan hookup(fatili1ty version) for it on ebay or somewere... Im not sure though, I have not ordered this mobo just yet so just double check if it fits...

Does anybody know if the board's NFORCE 4 Ultra chipset and Audiomax card inherently conflict with a ENVY24 based soundcard? My Chaintech AV-710 isn't outputting any sound and now no other soundcard is either...
