I'd be all over this board if it didn't have temp reading issues :( How can you trust your overclocks when the board won't read your temps correctly?

easy....buy a temp sensor and check it....once you figure out the range it won't change and you back use Abit's overinflated figures to roughly work out where you're at as you tested it with an independent thermometer

Hmm...will it be possible to reach the processor to get a reading if you've got a large heatsink on it(like the XP-120)?

Also, is it just the cpu temp that's off or does the NB temp read wrong too?

Hmmm, wonder when Newegg will get this board....

sure u can

other temps seem normal......around 32C for chipset...i think...well there are two extra measurements...System and PWM or whatever it's called...one is normally around 28C(System) and other 32C (PWM-assume chipset one....)

I'm crossing my finger those things finally get here. Sounds like a promising board. No to decide between the 3500+ and overclocking a 3200+

Okay cool. I guess I'll look for some reviews on thermometers.

BTW, one more question, is there any way to disable the red LEDs on the mobo? The right side of my computer case is in my direct line of sight when I go to sleep and I'm planning to use a case with vents on that side. I suppose if wrost comes to worst I can just put some black electrical tape over the LEDs.

Thanks for all the info dinos22, you've helped convince me that this is the right board for me.

That's good news. I was hoping to order parts this weekend, but I can wait a little bit longer :)

no too sure on LEDs but tape seems a good idea if nothing else works or placing case in a different position.

Good luck with the board. There is some good public knowledge now which you can use to get advice on your setup, Abit Forums, Xtreme Systems (tictac and chew*'s threads), i4memory, OCAU, VRZone, here....you name it.....this board is priced well so there will be a lot of new guys taking them on......I guess we will also see how responsive Abit is to users in terms of bios files....there are some big names in contact with Abit like tictac(bios modder), bigtoe, probably a bunch of other as well......I had two extremes before this...Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe and DFI nF4 Ultra-D.......there is a world of difference between the two companies so if Abit is somewhere in the middle i'm OK with that

Abit tech support says theres no way to turn off the LEDs. Would this be something a BIOS update could fix if enough people complain? =)

The whole LED thing is almost a deal breaker for me for the same reason aerelorn mentioned.

Very nice dinos22. What kind of cooling is that? Just wondering how far I could get this with a 3200 and stock vs Zalman cooling. I'm thinking that would likely go atleast as high as the 3500 will, from what I've been reading.

ZipZoomFly has the AN8 2.0 in stock for $124.99
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=240166

Anybody know whats the difference between the Ultra and the 2.0 besides 7.1 sound and the NF4 Ultra chipset? What's the difference between the regular NF4 and the Ultra version anyways?

Hopefully any day now for the Ultra version!

EDIT: NF4 Ultra has 3 gb/s SATA while NF4 has 1.5. Would there be a noticable difference in performance with the Ultra?

i remember when NF4 info came out...the vanilla NF4 was supposed to only support 800MHz HTT rather than 1GHz and a few other things.....

I'd jump on the AN8 vers 2 if I didn't know when the Ultra was coming out, but I figure I can wait a few more days considering I've been waiting over a month anyway.

I think the Ultra also has 7.1 audio vs 5.1 on vers 2. Otherwise I think thats about it according to the specifications.

With this board already out overseas and expected any day now (....) in the US, I figured it'd be appropriate to change the topic title. :)

Direct from ABIT!

"We have shipped out the AN8 Ultra to our customers last Friday. Since Monday was a holiday, it took a bit longer to arrive in their warehouse. You should start seeing AN8 Ultra in most of the online etailers very soon."

I've had mine for a few weeks now but then I'm in the UK.
Seems like for once it is the US that has had to wait :p
