Good point. To clarify my view, his MAGAts have been taken hostage in the sense that they are being compelled to accept every Trump directed wrongheaded policy that they are being financially affected by in a bad way. His working class followers were sold an deceptively attractive a bill of goods that featured racist dogma, right wing politically corrupted religious bullshit and other such nonsensical emotionally driven issues that he's never made good on. What they foolishly didn't expect from Trump (the hostage taking part) was how they are all now being forced to pay higher costs for food, medicine, healthcare insurance and the programs associated with that as well as the dirge of essential social services that Trump and his lackeys in Congress have taken away from them and the rest of us.

Prices are down everywhere! And king Trump’s will be giving all adults a check for $2,000!

But we’re paying more for everything, so are we just getting the money back that we paid more for shit for? And I somehow doubt this check he’s claiming we’ll get will actually happen.

Unless it the deporting of brown people, nothing that trump says he’ll do actually gets done.

I suspect if he can get Congress agree to it, he might actually do the check thing. MAGAs are stupid enough to believe if they got a check that means the tariffs must be working. And Trump’s stupid enough to send out billions of dollars we don’t actually have to gaslight and make it look like the country’s actually making money on these tariffs lol.

And it’s not exactly hard to get over on a group of people who saw the picture of Obamas portable basketball hoop, something you can buy at dicks sporting goods. And still claim it cost tax payers $350,000,000 lol

He's been talking about a "tariff dividend" or whatever for like six months and has made no moves to get it done. Anyway SCOTUS looks really likely to junk his tariff regime and all the money will have to be refunded to importers. An R congress isn't going to cut everybody checks again.
 
Why does no one talk about the fact that under trumps first term, he doubled the US monitary supply. He literally printed money for his covid-19 payouts.

That's the source of most of the inflation during Biden's term.

That doesn't really make sense: how does that explain inflation worldwide then?

It makes more sense that there was a significant supply crunch, so when people had money saved up, they proceeded to spend it at higher levels for fewer available goods, leading to higher prices.

We'll be getting those $2000 tariff checks right around the time we get those $5000 DOGE checks I'm sure.

Probably within two weeks of Trump's perfect healthcare bill and the construction of a border wall paid for by Mexico.

I just had to pay DHL $40 for something I ordered from Japan. They paid the tariff, then I had to pay them or it would get sent back. I definitely don't plan on ever getting that back.
