lol, I pictured everyone at AMD, from the janitors to the CEO polishing connectors late into the night.

If that is the reason then ... I wouldn't want to be in the shoes of the one that made the measurements for that cooler :D.

NVIDIA is on a winning streak. That looks to continue for awhile. Especially since the 6970 refresh practically didn't show up till next year.

Still better than woodscrews, tho the image of a hi tech robot handing gpus to a guy to fix on a grinding wheel is very amusing.

Please explain how this is better than a wrong specific type screw used in a mock up card ?

i can confirm the "notch" - but it is TINY .. not like the pic - there wasn't quite enough clearance between the VGA fan and the PCIe connector housing; even the screws holding on the backplate were loose

however, it is NOT like the pic and it does not compromise any integrity

and if AMD was really really smart, they wouldn't even have to disassemble the card - the fan blades are wide enough to work a small burning or grinding tool though the gap

they should have had me there for advice

That seems like it could become a safety issue. Damaging the casing around the power connector like that.
