I have removed 7.4 metric tonnes of snow from my roof ... and 2/3 are still there ... the snow is 0.6 - 0.8 meters high ... big roof.

I am very glad it had to go down. Imagine to lift 7.4 tonnes onto a roof by hand power! :D

Can't you just clap or something? Or fire a round from a .308. Mini-avalanche moves all the snow. (You can tell my experience with snow... lol) Or you could put a computer in a sealed metal container with a big battery to power it, and set it in the middle. Let it melt the snow away. Or create a network of tubing attached to heatsinks as the base of your room, and pipe the computers' heat to the network of tubing, thus always melting the snow. Not sure what it would look like in the summer though. hehe

As a kid in Fairbanks, I remember that we only had to slam a door to cause the snow to slide off the high-pitched roof.

Which would snuff out any BBQ you had going by the side of the house!

That's why we do not BBQ close to the house!

(Heat goes up, weakens the molecular bonds within the snow, snow comes down. Works for limited areas - such as 10 - 10 inches or so - but it is no fun getting 2 gallons of snow onto your head)

Well, you got no control over avalanches.
They may come down on your driveway, where you just removed all the snow ;) or on the path to the house where your wife comes out asking what the shooting is about. :D

Or worse yet, in the BBQ. Although it would be entertainingly ironic to have snow land on fish. ;)

Monday morning - and 2 more inches of the white stuff - it has to end! My snow shovel is getting worn out! :)

Petrus, I also shoveled off my roof this weekend. Nothing near like the volume you moved. Mine was mostly drifted and blown off the main roof. I moved about a 2 meter by 8 meter by 1 meter deep volume of snow from that roof. Warmer temperatures have been forecast for the rest of the week. Possible snow event to the south and east should miss us on Wednesday.

I certainly can sympathise ... still a lot of snow: 16 cubic meters * 200 kg/cubic meter = 3.2 tonnes ... a lot less for the roof to bear ...

I did the rest of the roof yesterday because snowfall of approximately 25 cm was predicted, but only 10 cm came - which IMHO is enough snow for this season.

BTW, tomorrow is Wednesday, a day we in Sweden call "Small Saturday" - a day for parties and smaller feasts. And I will be in Stockholm, all by myself, no company ... :(

OK ... it's still Monday here near Seattle. I was going to say that I'll probably go see Rudy Toody on Wednesday, and we could all think about each other at a pre-arranged time. If we concentrated, we might be able to sense each others' auras. (... or not!) Maybe we should syncronize our watches. It is now 10:27 pm, pst.

Of course you realize that if I supply the popcorn it will be pureed!

Rudy... You said you would bring normal popcorn for us, and I already brought my thermos for yours.

:( Puree popcorn it is. Did you bring straws or spoons?
