The rumors about the product schedule are false -- AMD

Plenty of mobile and OEM 8000 series 😉

I doubt they would call a successor to the HD7000 series for HD8000 now.

If you read what AMD actually said, they didnt really deny the rumours. They just said they will clarify later.

Huh? Did you read the first sentence?

AMD finally breaks its silence and puts the rumours to rest when it said that they will be releasing the next generation graphic card during 2013.

Unless you're referring to a different rumor...

Note what they actually said:
But when PCWorld was speaking to an AMD representative, it was said that 4Gamer interview articled lacked proper context and stated that the company will be clarifying the release of the next gen graphic card for 2013 in a conference call later this week.

Clarifying. Call me jaded, but I dont see anything definite. Is next gen a rebranded 7000? Nothing seems concrete here. I'll wait until the new cards are out.

I did post what they ACTUALLY said. Your reply makes no sense. 4Gamer were the cause of the rumor to begin with... so they are debunking it.

Is nvidia's next gen a re-branded geforce2? In the absence of evidence in either direction, I find your lack of faith disturbing.

The rumor was debunked. Any speculation beyond that is unfounded and you could speculate the same towards any manufacturer or product.

He is right, all the article stats (I liked the one from pcgamer in another thread). But all tehy are saying is they would like to clairify on the rumors. There still will not be a 8000 series out till Q3/Q4 at the earliest. And most definitly will not be until well after Computex.

I believe the rumor that was being referred to is that they would not release until 2014. This is why I wanted to confirm the rumor being referred to.

Yeah, They think that TITAN is not a desktop card.

Wow, i think they trying everthing to hide their incompetence to put something out which comming in the near of TITAN.

Funny part is that AMD promised to clarify confusion (which btw they created themselves)

Has anyone listened to this conference call

http://www.fudzilla.com/home/item/30482-7990-stays-the-fastest-amd-card-till-2014

So they said
1) No dual chip gpu this year
2) Any single chip gpu will perform less than the 7990.
3) Update with be in the second half of the year.

That still leaves a lot of room for a single gpu release. 8970 certainly could fit in there as well as 8950, etc. If I had to bet, I say around September.

I wonder if this 2H/Q4 2013 release will mean for 20nm generation, I wasn't expecting a early 2014 but at least a 2H 2014 when I'd probably upgrade my 7950 at least. I seriously hope that they'll be some sort of 20nm GPUs since a signifgant boost from 28nm is highly unlikely since I doubt the performance/mid-range HD8000/700 will be able to run games that well after the new consoles come out and don't want to pay for ultra-pricey Nvidia's Titan.

Title of this thread is possibly wrong. The rumor I heard was no new 8xxx desktop parts for the "bulk" of 2013. Shipping something in Q4 2013 is consistent with the rumors. In other words, the rumors were right if they said bulk of 2013. Not all rumors were "all" of 2013... that's just what some people freaking out exaggerated it as.

Blasting cap is correct. AMD never actually specified the launch schedule for Sea Islands, only that it was due sometime in 2013. The media seems to have failed ridiculously on this one as Toms Hardware, Sweclockers, and Videocardz have all written news articles that AMD's and NV's refreshes were not slated until Q4 2013 but most people ignored them. Any website that claims GTX700 or HD8000 series were expected to launch in 1H of 2013 is just blatantly making up facts from last Fall's rumours, and is incorrectly assuming those rumours were factual. Kit Guru thought HD8000 could drop around Computex. This was never corroborated by anyone else. A lot of us were hoping for a gtx680 gk114 refresh as well by Q1-2, but that was more our own desire for NV to refresh sooner, not anything to do with their roadmap either.

It also depends when TSMC actually get 20nm.

Plus we know Apple will outbid as well. Might be early 2015 for GPUs.

What is the big deal? If you have a fairly recent video card you don't need to upgrade for a long while. And I think this is going to be the case until we get the next generation of console port games.

It's most likely an end of Q3 or Q4 launch. Which is disappointing. That would be well over 1.5 years on the same 7xxx series. With Crysis 3 coming out, I was hoping for a mid-range single-slot solution to play it well - something like an 8870.

Even if a few cards are available at the tail end of 2013, has it ever been a good idea to rush out and buy a new card unless you are willing to pay absolute top dollar for it? The amount of price gouging that goes on from limited stock means you're waiting at least a few weeks, which puts you firmly in 2014 again. Also, I haven't read a single rumor of Nvidia releasing anything this year, so there won't be any price pressure on new AMD cards either.

With the amount of OC reported from some cards, I expect to see more SKUs like the Ghz edition where they are running at higher stock frequencies. Who knows if those will OC any better either.

They need to clear out their inventory.

For 9 months? This makes no sense, not to mention the Never Settle Bundle was in effect last Fall. That implies AMD has built up nearly a year of inventory? That's hard to believe. It also contradicts reasoning why would companies like XfX redesign all new versions of the 7970? If they had 9 months to 1 year of 7970 inventory, why would they buy even more 7970 kits from AMD?
