Thats BS. If I choose not to vac my son from say the measles, how is that affecting anyone? According to you vaccers, you are vaccinated so what will my non vaccinated son do to your vaccinated son? If your son gets it then obviously the vaccines dont work.

While vaccinations are extremely effective overall, they are not 100%. This is why herd immunity is important. If a vaccine is say, 90% effective, even if one person falls ill it's extremely difficult to keep passing it to new people. Since they are not 100% effective, your irresponsible decision impacts me as it makes it more likely that I will come into contact with an infected person.

Additionally, children under a certain age are too young to be vaccinated and therefore your unvaccinated children present a direct threat to them.

That's why it's our business.

Just curious, where do you feel you fall on the political spectrum?

I think this example is what frustrates me the most when it comes to this issue. You're not even trying to understand why people are up in arms, because if you gave your question even just a moment of legitimate genuine thought, you'd realize that you're only one (very easy, very short) logical step away from the realization that not everyone can be vaccinated, and that you vaccinating yourself and your family is others' only real protection ("herd immunity"). Furthermore, you choosing not to vaccinate provides additional opportunity to these diseases to "regroup", mutate/adapt, etc.

Your question is disingenuous; your ignorance is willful and your "concerns" completely sidestep the scientific evidence available on one side of the debate, and 100% absent on the other. Your "looking out for #1" attitude puts every infant at risk, as well as anyone else who's contraindicated.

Please keep your disease ridden child away from normal people.

Every anti vaxxer is a hippie or an idiot or stupid. And everyone will go on thinking that, except for a few hundred thousand who notice that their kid is clearly not the same after getting that latest round of shots. The sad thing is that most parents are so completely ignorant (or buried in their iCrap) that they dont even notice the timing on these events. One day their kid was autistic, that's all they noticed.

The debate isnt really about the effacacy of vaccines. Its about whether every kid needs 50-100 frickin shots before they are 12. OMFG it sounds so goddam absurd but that's the world we live in. Most people are already so far gone they they dont see a problem with 100+ shots, every one of them making $10-$300 in profits for various companies. Oh, that's perfectly ok. What is NOT ok is realizing the obvious absurdity in all this. So drink your fluoride, take your flu shot, get the flu 2 days later, and stfu.

I believe in freedom. If someone wants the shot, good for them. If they don't, good for them.

It's not for me to say what they do with their body. Sound familiar?

when you not getting vaccinated kills me, fuck you and your WRONG beliefs.

as far as i'm concerned if you don't get your vaccinations the cdc should come to your house tent it up and quarantine you as a bio-hazard.

50-100 shots, huh? You don't sound insane at all.

Your number of shots is grossly inflated.

Additionally, scientists have repeatedly researched the effects of vaccines on autism. The conclusion is overwhelmingly that vaccines don't cause autism.

You can either deal with the fact that science says you're wrong or you can continue emotionally ranting about shots and the vaccine-industrial complex or whatever.

I think I've maybe had 2 dozen shots for vaccinations total in 30 years? And 5 of them were just boosters?

I've never had a flu shot since I could elect not to take one. But that's just me knowing that I'm a healthy adult and I can most likely survive infection.

Flouride eh? What are your thoughts on Chemtrails?

Spring a leak there, chap?

While potentially spreading the disease to others.

But Dr. YouTube, Professor Google, and their spreadsheet of anecdotes says that scientists are misinforming us on vaccine safety.

Yep. Many of these illnesses are transmissible prior to symptoms appearing. In the case of influenza, a person is infectious up to a day before the onset of symptoms.

Unfortunately, I was forced to have vaccines by my mother at a young age. So I'm no threat to you. Maybe if you increase your font size to 8, you will be able to convince me that my beliefs are wrong.

There are bigger fish to fry.

But I'm guess you are all for amnesty.

you're still an idiot.

Argument of ignorance. There has been almost no reported cases of measles in Central America (and most of the Western Hemisphere for that matter outside of imported cases):

And the vaccine rates for most of the Western Hemisphere is above 90%
http://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SH.IMM.MEAS/countries

So stop the trying to drum up the stupidity that this is somehow an issue of illegal immigration.

nice try though

the odds of getting dengue fever and west nile are a shit ton lower than getting a vaccine preventable disease.

I find this whole thing fascinating in a train wreck sort of way. Of all the topics here it seems that the most expert opinions based on almost no understanding are about health care and medicine.

Ah, yes, Liberty News. Where else can you find the truthy truth about Hilary?

LEAKED AUDIO RECORDINGS REVEAL HILLARY CLINTON IS A MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD AGENT WHO HELPED THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD TAKE CONTROL OF NORTH AFRICA AND THE MIDDLE EAST

blah blah blah blah
But I'll let you read the REAL truth for yourself.

Just curious what everyone's take was on who they see as composing the majority of this group. My initial take was that it was mostly hippies, as that's what I've been exposed to personally (friends, coworkers, FB, etc). But my newsfeeds keep churning out articles indicating that it's the Tea Party "don't tread on me" crowd.

It makes sense either way: hippies taking their organic, holistic beliefs too far... Tea Baggers rejecting rules and common sense simply because it was forged by someone else.

What have your personal experiences been?

Flat-Earthers, fake-moon-landers, tea-baggers, birthers are in the same basket. Anti-vax's are just hysterical overly protective parents that have no idea that the norm once was two children out of ten reaching adulthood.
