I don't have high hopes for this. Anyone else see Generation Kill, also by HBO? It felt like they wanted to capitalize on Band of Brothers, and couldn't, so I expect the same thing.
 
I've been waiting for this thing for at least 5 or 6 years now... I hope this thing is even half as good as Band of Brothers, because that would be incredible.

I was dissapointed in G-Kill, the book was awesome... the miniseries sucked.

Haven't seen it, but The Pacific has Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg as producers.

Gen Kill was perfectly fine. It wasnt the same as BoB at all though. But certainly good for what it was trying to be in my opinion.

FYI, The Pacific is the most expensive TV series every made... estimated $120M. if you see the trailer/teaser you WILL have high hopes.


It seems HBO ripped down all the postings all over. I CANT FIND IT!!!
 
This will probably be good, but I don't know how it will be better than BOB. I'll probably still get the DVDs though
 
I don't think it's possible for anything to be better than Band of Brothers, but if it comes even somewhat close, it'll be amazing.
 
The trailer was leaked months ago but HBO has been doing a good job of getting it down. Still haven't seen the damn thing. Was supposed to be out in the spring of '09 but got pushed to 2010.

Ha ok seriously, I think many have heard of it but this is the first I've heard of a teaser being aired on HBO. Was there one a long time ago that I missed??
 
I think the format of this miniseries is going to be more in line to what BoB was than GKill. That's not to say it's going to be just as good but I sure hope so. A lot of what makes these series great imo is the people the story chose to follow. EZ company went through a lot which made for great story-telling, they travelled far and wide and fought many battles. GKill focused more on soldier mentality than on the bonds that were created over the course of the war. I'm not concerned with the release date, if it'll make it as good as BoB, I'm willing to wait for it.

yeah, I don't think Generation Kill had the same production company as BoB, so only similarity was HBO, nothing more.

The Pacific should be tits. Not that I'll know, b/c I don't have HBO. 🙁
