John Basilone and Chesty Puller in the same movie - I wonder how they are able to get audio with the giant brass balls clanging together. If they are going to make it at least true to life, those two actors are gonna need a wheelbarrow to pack them around.

I don't have high hopes for this. Anyone else see Generation Kill, also by HBO? It felt like they wanted to capitalize on Band of Brothers, and couldn't, so I expect the same thing.

It also didn't have the same kind of people behind the helm producing it as this will.

The Pacific is being produced by Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, and Gary Goetzman

GKill had The guys who did the Wire, so it SHOULD have been awesome. I think they tried to squeeze too many stereotypes into it. A friend pointed out that a movie made about a war before that war is even over is never gonna be good. I think I have to agree with that.

Gkill was good for what it was, it was not trying to be band of brothers. David Simon likes to talk about dissfunctionality in his stories, which gkill was perfect for.

Holy shit. I'm sold. Looks a lot more "professional" than BoB (characters aren't as fun/chummy?).

This one is longer than the one I saw a month or two ago. The beach landing scenes look awesome. I cant wait.

Why is the video listed under the medal of honor game?

Looks pretty epic, I got all tinkly watching that trailer. It has potential to be added to my BR collection along side my BoB BR tin can.

Hhhmmm, looks ok, but I'm not blown away. FWIW I actually really enjoyed Generation Kill, I've watched it several times. Of course it doesn't compare to BoB but it was good.

Product placement? The article mentions the whole WWII bandwagon that Saving Private Ryan and BoB started.

looks pretty awesome. On one hand the marine landings where the best supported and best equipped assault landings conducted. On the other they did a lot more of them than the boys on the other side and they were facing the most determined opponents.

Will they show McArthur bugging out with his household servants while the wounded stayed on Corregidor?
Or will they show McArthur being paid a half million dollars to disobey direct orders to bomb the Japanese, but pretend to be to busy to give the order in a vain attempt to earn the half million because the Phillipine President hoped if he didn't the Japs would not invade the Phillipines?
Or will the show McArthur hemming and hawing when he is caught for not reporting the half million dollars recieved to betray America?

Catch my McArthur drift?

Probably put it under MoH😛A to hide it from the people at HBO. Looks good, makes me want to rewatch my Band of Brothers Blu-Ray that I have, and finish CoD: WaW campaign Lol.

You mean MacArthur? Or did you miss the incredibly big hint that it will follow the US Marine Corps and not the Army?

I don't know, maybe try to tone down the whole jaded history buff stuff or at least brush up before you open your trap.

If its Politicallly correct, its going to suck. BOB was good because it wasn't PC. BOB tried to be true to life.. The trailer for the pacific seems a little PC for me.. I have low hopes because of this.
