and once again, global sales will have absolutely no effect on 99.99% of the people he was talking about, just like it did with the 360. why would i care how the 360 sells in some small market country? it's not like they are going to stop making games because they only sold 5 million consoles instead of 5.1 million. (and once again, i am making up numbers just for hypothetical situations)

i still see no problem at all. the 360 had this "problem" and the 360 did just fine and i was extremely happy with the console over the past 8 years. just as i was with the ps3, and pretty much everyone that i know was with both consoles.

More than half of the 360 sales were from the US. I think MS understands their market better than some AT forum posters.

A lot of the sales lost due to the "features not available in my country" argument will be overshadows by the sales of those who are shopping and say "if I buy this Xbox, I don't have to buy a Rookoo or whatever as well!"

Maybe, I don't know the costs they incur over the life of the system to keep a system supported in Japan. I thought it was clear that Japan won't buy the Xbox though.

There was one month (when Ace Combat 6 released) that the Xbox 360 sales (for the month) actually surpassed the PS3 sales. They buy it for very specific titles, it seems.

Yeah, again purbeast understood what I was getting at. Also, let me just say it that I fully expect PS4 to outsell the XB1 worldwide. Hell, I even expect it to outsell the XB1 in the United States too, but I don't think it will be as lopsided as many others do. My main point was that all the doom and gloom that a lot of hot headed gamers were predicting for MS won't be happening, and if the start of the console generation has shown us anything, it's that people are still very excited about the Xbox brand.

I second this sentiment. I'm just happy gamers are finally playing the games and getting away from being hung up on technicalities, regardless of what platform they choose. It's just sad that it had gotten to the point where fans were activily wishing for the preverbial "red ring of death" on the other guy so that they could be vindicated for being righteous.

Usually those people can only afford one console or have only owned one console brand. They have some sort of loyalty to the product they own.

There are things I like about both the XB1 and the PS4. There are things I find better on one vs the other. For example I like the PS4 controller and the OS interface better and it feels a bit smoother than the XB1 right now. I like the friend list better on the PS4. I don't understand why the friends list is an app and separated from the core OS on the XB1. I like that the PS4 supports USB keyboards for typing messages and such. I like that the PS4 has the potential to function with PS3 control devices like Wheels and fight sticks provided the game is set up to recognize these devices. However I like the TV and some of the Kinect features and the system starts up a bit faster from standby(of course it turns on all my devices too). I find the XB1 is better for Blu-Ray playback due to the support for IR devices like my Harmony One remote, but it won't read BD-R disks I made from home movies while the PS4 does. I like the XB1's smartglass app better than the Playstation app. I think they both feel similar online which is a good thing. I think the headset sound quality is a wash but I do wish MS had that adapter ready for launch so I could use my Sennheiser.

There's pros and cons to both from my usage. I have certain preferences that might make me buy more 3rd party games on one vs the other but that isn't a big deal.

It makes sense though. If someone thinks the Xbox One is stupid and only stupid people would buy it, they are essentially calling me stupid, as I bought and Xbox One (and a PS4). I understand some of the fanboyism regarding brands, as most don't just attack the product, but the users of the product.

Sony Pony, indiestation, and Xbot, xboned, xbox 180 come to mind. I don't understand where they come up with these silly names myself.

It's not much different to people who only buy one brand of video card on the PC side, or it can be compared to Ford vs Chevy talk.

Found this on the xbox.com forums while searching for info on how to stream video to my XB1 from PC. Apparently you cannot browse the library on your PC but have to tell the PC where to play the video to. It's easier to use, just right click the video and select play to and click your xbox system. However it means you can't pull videos off a DLNA compatible NAS box. However there are apps that can direct videos to be played to specific devices on your network that run on android or iOS.


Oh but .mkv videos don't work at all.

The best apps I've found to do this are BubbleUPnP on Android devices, and ArkMC on iOS. They will both let you connect to a DLNA server (I use Plex), and direct the video streams to your XBone. There is currently no way to browse DLNA servers directly on the XBone, so you need a mobile device somewhere in the equation.

So, my controller just stopped rumbling. I hope it is because of low battery or something. This is garbage. It basically ruined my racing experience in Forza.

Weird...I don't remember any other controller stopping because of low battery.

When I was watching the Revision3 XBOX One launch live stream, their rumble wasn't working. The guy commented that the batteries might be dying, they gave him some new ones, and it worked fine.

I'm not sure about the X1 OS off the top of my head, but I find that the PS4's OS lags a bit while a game is open in the background. Maybe it's a similar thing for the X1 OS?
