Turn 10 admitted it. Looks like E3 was running off of GTX 780's. Looks like they still couldn't match the PC's raw power.
I'm shocked! Oh wait, no I'm not. Of course a console isn't going to keep up with a high end PC, with a $500+ video card. As a matter of fact, it's impressive that a console (COMPLETE price of $500) is only a "wee bit" behind.

That being said, who is playing this game for the crowds? It’s all about the cars and, boy do they look nice! I’m not giving much thought to the 2D models because I imagine they’ll be a blur on the side while doing 180 MPH in a cut throat race.
Exactly.

I'm tired of the comparisons under a microscope. It's has become absolutely ridiculous, analyzing still shots and compressed YouTube videos.

I had not seen anything on Forza 5 until a couple days ago. I watched a recently released gameplay video, and I was not that impressed. The cars looked good (though too glossy), but the overall environment looked to be lacking some serious detail that was noticeable even during fast motion. Those 2D crowds stuck out like a sore thumb, and that's just one example. And, yet, I had heard it was supposed to look amazing...

The reviews still say it looks amazing.

The reviews for the PS4/XBO launch games have been pretty crappy for the most part, in that the actual reviews themselves were bad (not what the reviewer thought of the game). Poor writing, double standards across similar games, claims that make it seem like the reviewer never actually played the game, etc.

There's 12 Gamestops (I think) within 20 minutes of me. Two within 5.

Starting setup now. The box is super heavy. Probably twice as heavy as the PS4 box. It comes with more but it almost ripped Gamestop's bag lol.

EDIT: Alert here for Harmony Remote users. My Harmony One works with the Xbox One natively with no Kinect hooked up. Let me clarify, in the harmony setup software I told it I have an Xbox One and programmed the remote to turn the inputs etc. It turns on my console without any extra IR receivers and no Kinect plugged into the system at all. I'll test the controller a bit once it completes the update.

edit 2: It works (the remote) but only if I set the activity as watching a dvd. otherwise I cannot get the remote to scroll the menus etc. Subjectively the Blu-Ray quality is pretty good. Seems on par with PS3 and PS4. Just no 3D yet.

How are your download speeds lol, even though live's servers are better supported by MS infrastructure.

How do you like the interface? Oh and did you use the kinnect or will you? I feel like if it didn't come with a kinnect I could get one later but I really don't want it.

1AM, my X1 has not shipped or charged from amazon yet. They dropped the ball. Nice amazon, oversold... knew something was wrong. Notification is so late now that I can't score one locally.

EDIT:
We are writing to inform you that, due to a surge in demand that exceeded limited supply on Wednesday, November 20, we have had to replace your order of the "Xbox One: Day One Edition" with the similar "Xbox One: Standard Edition". We recognize that the standard edition doesn't include the commemorative controller or Xbox Live achievement, and exterior packaging will be different. You may experience a 1-3 day shipping delay. To compensate you for this change, we have taken $50 off your existing order which will be refunded to your payment method within 2-3 business days.
To track your order, or if you would like to cancel or return your order based on this change, please visit the Contact Us page here: https://www.amazon.com/contactus
Again, we apologize for any inconvenience.
I know it sucks but $50 off is a pretty sweet trade, IMO. You can get an extra game.

$50 isn't worth any limited edition anything that you may or may not be able to find again without paying over MSRP to a slimy reseller. I'd be pissed.

Any of the crap launch games will be available any time, and even used by the dozens for < $30 anyway in a month or two, so no, not even worth a game.

The controller and achievement are probably going to be irreplaceable for many.

How so? You said they are exploiting kids. How? Nobody forces people to trade games to them. You don't have to trade to shop there.

You mentioned amazon trade-in but both offer a service, even best buy offers a similar service. It's optional. If someone takes $15 for their game that's their business IMO. They can do what they want once they buy it as far as I'm concerned.

Is it so bad for me to say I don't like their business practices without getting into a free market discussion? Yes, I know no one is forced to buy their stuff. That doesn't mean that I can't object to their lowball offers and ridiculously high used game prices, or how they treat their customers like thieves, or how godawful their return policy is.

I don't really feel too bad, pretty sure he placed the order when Amazon opened it up again like 2 days ago. Not like it was one of the original orders.

I'd take the $50 myself.

That's correct. Ability to do a last minute pre-order + $50 off? WIN.

Just got my xb1. I really dig the interface. I think this becomes a hit once people show it off to their none gamer friends. Its the htpc for dummies.

I still somewhat prefer the ps4's no nonsense approach. Show me what is relevant. Although I must say it is multiple times better than the 360.

Thanks guys, I'm not super sad but I did want to play the system today (lol). The problem is it has a 1-3 day shipping delay for the standard system, which means I might miss it for Thanksgiving since I'm leaving next week - which is the only reason I wanted it today so I could have it in time for my family vacation - lol.

I'll go out and get the 3DS XL just to show off Zelda instead!

The downloads match my ps4. That is to say they saturate my connection. I plugged in kinect and played with it. I dont like the voice stuff all that much but the QR reader for code redemption is a huge time saver. The system doesn't seem to support usb keyboards like ps4 so I cannot type the 25 character code in. I was not sure if I had room for the kinect but I managed to make it work. I'll keep it hooked up I guess. I tried using the voice commands to search the xbl store and it was a bit cumbersome compared to just using the controller. It didn't understand my commands on the first try. Still it may get some software tweaks to make it a bit better in the long run who knows.

As for the interface I think I prefer the non cluttered look of the ps4 but it is a ton better than the 360 to me. When I start pinning apps and such to the front I am sure it will get easier to navigate and use. Overall I am happy with it so far. I have not played any games since I did not have a lot of time.

Looks like they don't have a download manager either yet. The kinnect will need to have updates for voice clarity too I guess. I watched a video of a guy repeating stuff over and over. That would drive me nuts. If I wanted to do that I would probably go babysit little kids.

The 360 ui was odd, many of my friends had a 360 and it just looked slow and cluttered. I'm sure it's more snappy on the Xbox one.

I wonder what WiFi card both systems use. It could be similar in model.

I have only did the initial setup but I can't believe how good the video from Kinect looked. I also had issue with wifi. I have my network setup where the ssid is not broadcast and no password. It kept telling me to check password and other stuff. I logged on to my router and on the devices page it showed the One so not sure what the problem was. I had to turn tethering on my phone to finish setup. I had a ps3 that gave me a similar problem and I had to end up turning on wep and broadcast my ssid but that was on a different network, I may have to do that again

I was pretty amazed at the difference in the quality in between the original Kinect camera and the PS4 camera...

Haven't unboxed my XBone yet, but 3 cameras in front of the TV is a bit crazy...

You mean leave out half the functionality that the PS3 had while shipping a console that couldn't even do half the stuff it could do until you got a Day 1 update?

If that's preferable then I don't know.

I'm not picking on the PS4 in general though its a pretty solid device, but when people start saying it's ok to leave out things just because it's a "gaming" device I start to cringe. The PS4 is less capable than both the PS3 and 360 in regards to functionality, in spite of being more powerful. The games look and perform better, but the rest of the console is a fragment of it's former generation.

I think in the long run the PS4 will be judged as a slightly more capable gaming device, but the XB1 will become increasingly more well rounded and as such will command a significant market share. This will be especially so if they start tapping into the mainstream, casual market who like the idea of using their device as a quasi-HTPC in addition to games. Gamers tend to mock them, but there is a ton of money to be made there and Sony isn't even trying to speak to them.

Did they say the one can is dlna capable? Ps4 will be getting that in one of the major firmware updates. As well as mp3 support I think. Boogie on YouTube talked about this.

one of my buddies on irc whom i've known for over 15 years received a DOA x1 from gamestop. he simply gets no video at all. that really has to be a blower.

this is going to be a long 4 hours at work until i leave then wait even longer for UPS to drop off my x1, killer instinct pin ultimate edition, and the killer instinct prima guide/book.

Question:

I have Dish Network, and the Hopper DVR. This DVR is plugged in via HDMI to my receiver. When I get an Xbox One, how will I run the hopper through the Xbox One? All my components now plug directly into my receiver (Not my TV).
