Did they say the one can is dlna capable? Ps4 will be getting that in one of the major firmware updates. As well as mp3 support I think. Boogie on YouTube talked about this.

The XB1 is capable. As far as the PS4, it may get it but Sony hasn't committed to it. The most we have gotten from them on the subject is that they are looking into it. In fact, if Sony does add it in then it will set a new precedent, because in my experience with the PS3 is that they are more apt to remove functionality after the fact that add any in. This is from the official FAQ:

Will PS4 support media servers or DLNA support in order to stream videos or movies from a home PC?

The PS4 system does not support client functionality* for media servers.
*We appreciate your feedback and are exploring possibilities.

My comments were more directed at all those people who for the past 18 months did nothing but talk about how awesome the PS4 will be because it was focused purely on gaming and wouldn't do much else. They got what they wanted but it appears the majority of gamers didn't share that sentiment and it caught Sony off guard. MS took all kinds of crap from the community for trying to do all these things but now they appear to have been more in step with the gaming community as a whole.

I think Sony will eventually put DLNA in, but I don't think they should get a pass for not doing it in the first place, especially considering it was supported in the PS3.

I'm saying this in the XB1 forum so I'm sure it will come off as fanboyish, but I've said the same thing in the PS4 forum. Don't get me wrong, I don't think the XB1 is all that impressive either.

I was pretty amazed at the difference in the quality in between the original Kinect camera and the PS4 camera...

Haven't unboxed my XBone yet, but 3 cameras in front of the TV is a bit crazy...

There is also an obscene amount of money in data mining, just look at Facebook and Google. How long until personalized ads are popping up because your Kinect noticed certain brand of drink or snack sitting next to you. I despise the ads on the interface.

Hah awesome, I'll look at walmart.

I also was next to a guy asking for XB1 because he called and was told they had them in stock, and the employee told him a kid just walked out with the last one. That's how I knew he had the last one lol.

I think over time both systems will be able to do pretty much the same thing. It's still early and the only difference would be the Xbox's tv integration. I would like one but I have no need or want to pay for a kinnect. Nor am I interested remotely in either systems launch titles. All the games I have for ps4 I can play on pc if I really wanted to.

I'm more interested in what the future holds for both systems rather than who will be a better seller.

I'm hoping the XB1 does really well... I liked the 360 way more than the PS3 and it just kinda swayed me that way.

But, I'm not just picking one to stick with it. If the PS4 shows me more of what I'm looking for, I'll get that. Knowing me though, I'll end up with both at some point

Microcenter opens in 15 minutes and they have at least 30 per store, but I think that means they're probably going to sell out (they're an hour away from me). I'll just press my luck with Amazon's standard edition shipping soon.

Ditto, the 360 killed the PS3 IMO.

I just tried NBA 2k but only on practice mode so it was just one player in the gym but it looks great and this is on my son's old Vizio 720p plasma that is about 4 years old. The voice so commands work really well so far

You mean leave out half the functionality that the PS3 had while shipping a console that couldn't even do half the stuff it could do until you got a Day 1 update?

If that's preferable then I don't know.

I'm not picking on the PS4 in general though its a pretty solid device, but when people start saying it's ok to leave out things just because it's a "gaming" device I start to cringe. The PS4 is less capable than both the PS3 and 360 in regards to functionality, in spite of being more powerful. The games look and perform better, but the rest of the console is a fragment of it's former generation.

I think in the long run the PS4 will be judged as a slightly more capable gaming device, but the XB1 will become increasingly more well rounded and as such will command a significant market share. This will be especially so if they start tapping into the mainstream, casual market who like the idea of using their device as a quasi-HTPC in addition to games. Gamers tend to mock them, but there is a ton of money to be made there and Sony isn't even trying to speak to them.

No that's not what I said. Why do you guys always resort to bs arguments that are not relevant to what was posted? The xbox one interface is cluttered. Period. The ps4 menu also transitions more smoothly than the xb1 but that can be adjusted in the software updates. I was talking about how the home menu screen looks and the ps4 doesn't throw so much crap in the way of your stuff. You have a menu for video apps like Netflix etc and your games are available at a glance. The xb1 is tons better than the 360 but still not as trimmed down and sleek. Nobody except you was talking about leaving off features. If you wanna go there, the xbox one does not support dolby digital at all. You can't get it from movies either unless you convert it to lpcm, no bit streaming of the dolby tracks. Further it does not support twitch streaming or mp3 files off a flash drive. It will only stream from a play to device so it cannot act as a media extender from windows media center. Both dolby digital and twitch are coming in a later update. By the same token it was confirmed by Yoshida Shuihei that the ps4 will get media streaming and mp3 support in a future update. Even so...nobody mentioned that so I have no clue how talking about the interface is relevant to any of these things at all.

I didnt use any voice commands in NBA, I am talking about on the dashboard. I think I did see options for either voice or Kinect in the NBA 2k menu though when I was looking to change the camera.

I don't think a simple interface means less functionality. We didn't know about the ps4 not being dlna compatible until a few weeks before launch. Many people thought, myself included that hey it's going to be just like ps3 but faster with more trinkets here and there.

Did you find that you had to repeat something because you didn't speak slow enough? I think that's my problem with it, I need to talk slower. I also need to talk semi loud to it and to be honest I feel like a goof because of it lol.

I think there should be a thread for the one, one for the ps4 so it can just be about those things and then make a versus thread so the kiddie bickering can all go in there, some of us dont care about that stuff and appreciate both consoles and just like games not cheerleading a certain system

The ps4 is the same despite having the Mic close to you as it's hanging in the ear. You can say PlayStation and it picks up really quickly but anything else has to be pronounced at a slower rate.

Sony already said that DLNA/MP3 support is coming in a future update. Shu told Boogie and Boogie talked about it during one of his recent videos.

doubt it's going to work, but did anyone try plugging in an x360 wired controller or joystick? i'm definitely going to try when i get home but definitely not expecting it to work. the guts of my joystick are the atari looking 3rd party controller for the 360 so maybe it'll be lucky lol.

also, last night i ruined an x1 controller pcb while trying to wire it to my joystick. i guess it is cause my soldering iron is so old or something was wrong, but it peeled off the copper contact on the pcb :(. its the same iron/solder i have used for ages that has always worked fine but for some reason it was getting too hot or somethign on the low settings. i hadn't used it in ages though and was sitting in my garge, along with the solder, for over a year so i don't know if the temp changes in there somehow jacked it up. but $63 down the drain.

and after taking the controller apart, i can see why the controllers are $60. there is A LOT going on inside of them, and the controller is actually 2 pcb's.

WHAT were you doing?!?!?!?

He was probably padhacking so he could use his current joystick with the X1. I know if I was heavily into fighting games as I once was I'd be doing the same. Have 3 sticks laying around that haven't been touched in over a year.. lol. Really need to get my post count up on SRK (old user who forgot to reregister or whatever it was they did) so I can sell them.

Oh man I was weary enough changing the hard drive in the ps4 a few days after launch but I would not try and take apart a controller lol.

I kinda regret cancelling my Xbone order. I have the itch to play something new, and I have a new TV on the way... And Forza 5 is calling my name. Oh well. I'll keep an eye out for available stock in the stores. I have a feeling that Microsoft is going to be able to ship enough of these to not make it *totally* impossible to find relatively soon.

both consoles will def. have availability. Also, newegg had stock as of 7:30 am this morning, albeit in rip off bundle form.

I may have screwed myself over with UPS hold for pickup. I called last night and had no problems getting it held, however after going there this morning to get it, I was told that it was already put on the delivery truck before they could pull it. So right now, it's out on the delivery truck.

What worries me is that tracking for it currently says "Held for Pickup", so I'm wondering if the driver is even going to bother trying to deliver it to me or if he'll just keep it on the truck and take it back to the shipment center.

They usually deliver around noon-1pm. The wait begins.
