Your pm's isn't working because you don't have them turned on in your profile.
There's a guy over on hardocp selling a mb with 2 cpu's for $70.00 but I don't have the cash to get them.:(

I've sent quite a bit of stuff already, but I've got a few more 10/100 nics and about (15) more 150watt ATX power supplies to ship out yet.

If we want to make use of them, I sincerely suggest we open up the restrictions on boards/processors a little bit - obviously, to keep things manageable we don't want everything being sent, but if we can agree on say a half-dozen different boards, it would help the project significantly. ;)

Maybe we should go and post some messages on major hardware forums and ask for donations of all kind. (Paypal, old hardware etc. etc.)

Something like "Do you want to be part of world largest sivilian supercomputer (lol). Well you can now...."

The problem could be that there would be too much stuff we cant use or cant afford using. Thought I dont think this will be the case. LANMAN cant have half of the worlds outdated hardware in his basement , can he? The problem could be solved by selling the stuff and buying with the money something better.

Too ambisious?

Most of the forums have their own Seti team so I don't think they would like that idea to much :)

How about we set up our own franchise of internet caffe' and with laundromat serving beverages and playing lan games.
We pick spots where more well to do Anandechers have homes and and our fellow enthusasts that have been long term friends can move into the same city and run the the business jointly some as management with full time jobs and others with working the store sorta a starbucks with laundry and you just shut the doors on the laundry cause it gets to hot and you need drinks to cool down and entertainment in the meanwhile.
Slower computers could be used for word processors.
$84 for nforce and a $55 1600+XP makes a 200+fps game rig.

OK, i think my BP6 is dead, so depending on what i decide to get for my server, i may have a pair of 366s and a pair of 400s that can be used for the Beowulf

A little donation ($5) is send to the paypal account.

Lanman,
Don't foget to take pictures of the whole process while building the Beowulf, including the preparations (like cleaning up your basement and such ;) )

It would make a written history of the machine more lively.

BTW, Am working on some sort of a portal about DC in general and can setup pages, especially for the Beowulf, if needed on that website.
I can also host the pics, if needed.

Peter.

Thanks for the donation Pete!!

I have to run a PC over to the site this afternoon anyway. I'll snap some quick pics.

A workstation almost burned out the P/S; Did anyone know Gateway puts 90w p/s in their low profile PC's? It was running rc5 until today.
But now it will be upgraded to Win2k with SETI installed. :Q ;)

Ah yes.. another assimulation.

(little bump for the cause too)

Then potential source I discovered is not answering my PM's any more, not sure why. Going to give him until tomorrow, then I will try contacting him via e-mail.
