No you do NOT need the origin client to install or play swtor.


but your swtor login username/password will work for origin as well since they merged the ea and bioware accounts a while back, so for ME,DA,Origin store(which I have and its the same u/p) and probably anything in the future you could use the same login

Ah ok. I merged the accounts when I pre-ordered. I assumed it was a requirement. I bet it will be a requirement at some point, the way Blizz went to battle.net login for everything.

I guess instead of origin names, please provide your character name and faction and I will update the OP as such.

I preordered around the time I started the original thread. Wish I knew they planned to roll out release on preorders, would have ordered much earlier!
 
I just pulled the trigger and purchased a copy. I redeemed my product code but on the My Account page it still has "Redeem a Product Registration Code" grayed out. If I try to input the key again it says it has already been redeemed. I guess I have to wait a little while before it will be marked?

havent gotten my copy yet, but when i do im pretty sure i'll be playing empire on a pvp server with some friends. dunno which server they have picked yet tho.

also, sticky this thread like for the other games?
 
I'm in, character created. Shii-Cho is still showing as a "light" population server, btw. Though the most populated servers ATM are just "standard".

Thanks for the info KT. I was on my way out the door as I posted that so I didn't have a chance to go searching for it. I played in the last beta so from what I've been reading the client should be ready to go. Just waiting for the e-mail now.
 
Staggered pre-order launch... good idea on paper... terrible in practice... really disheartening to know you paid as much as some one else for a product, yet can't participate.

I suppose, but the game has not even launched yet. I could see if this were happening on launch day, but this is two days before the early access was supposed to even start.

Would I like to be playing right now? Of course, but the only time I would be upset at not being able to play is on or after the 20th. I will be keeping my fingers crossed until that day though. 😀

I rolled a bounty hunter (Lakatos) and an inquisitor (Vos). I will probably have my bounty hunter off Hutta later tonight or tomorrow if anyone wants to meet up to create the guild.

My Bioware forum name is Clovus...

Hopefully you guys can find me one way or the other.

One thing I think we need to decide also... Once we form the guild, are we taking anyone who asks to join? Requiring a post in this thread or some other proof of affiliation with AT? Or maybe a reference from an existing member if they aren't on AT?

Whichever way we go I think it'd be best to decide up front.

Yeah I was wondering about this as well. I don't necessarily mind having outsiders as long as there is some sort of vetting process. I have to think limiting it to current ATers would make the guild rather small; whether that's a good or bad thing, I'm not sure. I was in a relatively small guild in LOTRO and it worked out quite well since everyone always knew everybody by name. Not sure that will work for this game though.
