We think some point will arrive, where the games are not about graphics anymore because they can't take it any further; but graphics still play a major part (whether that's resolution or frame rate). Nintendo seems to not care about GFX that much, and they're about to drown. There's still a large percentage of gamers who go goo-goo ga-ga just for graphics. I don't think they are the minority.

Ehh, I don't have a problem with Nintendo over its graphics, and I would bet that most consumers don't have that as a top-3 complaint about the Wii U. The lack of a decent online multiplayer experience is my problem, with the lack of third-party support being complaint #2. The third thing would probably be the tablet, more due to its quality than its general existence. I suppose some of the third-party support issues are hardware-related, but I don't think that the average consumer realizes that.

Hate to drive this PS4 thread deeper into the Wii U, but my 3rd complaint would be graphics. I'm fine with the tablet, but for crying out loud, some "last-gen" games have better graphics and clearly this is driving 3rd parties away.

Well since graphics are inherently tied to hardware (note, Art style != graphics) of course it would drive some 3rd Party devs away. When it's going to take a lot of extra work to tweak your game to run on The Wii U and consider it good (in terms of performance, not necessarily visuals), welps...

Then throw in the small user base and fughetboutit.

Oh no, not Wii U talk again. Nobody ever feels like bashing the Vita, which deserves it more. 😛

The Wii U has a lot of problems because Nintendo rushed it and took a spay and pray philosophy to building it. Just cramming everything in and hoping something would stick. If they took the tablet out, bundled it with the pro controller and a Wiimote, they could sell it for cheaper and more people would probably buy it.

The Vita has more games. No, really it does.

Games are a dime a dozen these days. It would come down to which one had the best quality games say in the top ten or something.

Well people always say the Vita has no games... That's untrue and it has a pretty good selection of RPGs too which to me is a lacking genre that doesn't see many high quality releases anymore.

Well, at a glance it seems like the top games for Vita are just ports from consoles or something.

I think the only people who don't bash Vita are owners of a Vita. Vita has been perhaps the best Hand Held I've ever own, but even I find it hard to sell to someone due to it's game library. While I wouldn't say Vita has no games, it definitely seems to be catering to a specific subgroup of gamers.

I would argue Vita does have a poor selection of titles, but I've felt this has usually been true for Handhelds for a core gamer. Most often handhelds get little brother versions of a console game. Vita is no different.

Also, I'm finding Vita is catering more to the Japanese-style gamer more than anyone else. Don't get me wrong, I do love me some Japanese-cultured games, but I don't think my best friend is in a rush to buy Demon Gaze or Danganronpa, and what is available to him are just ports of games he probably already beat or has no interest in double dipping on.

That's one of the reasons people knock on the Vita, because a lot of the games aren't catered to the average American. It's a lot of JRPG's that the average Joe doesn't know about

Because people have moved on from JRPG's. Western RPG's have taken over as the money maker. I love the Vita hardware but there just isn't enough for me to want to buy it. I recently bought a 3DS for games like Zelda, Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Phoenix Wright, etc etc. The 3DS just has all the good games.

Ah man Transistor got amazing reviews. So torn, PS4 or PC...

EDIT:

Oh, well, this might push me towards PS4 version:

Anybody here bought Trials Fusion? I've played the demo and think it is a blast. Just wondering how the gameplay holds up in the full version. I thought about buying it or "Child of Light". Maybe I'll get both.

As I've said in previous threads, the Vita's problem is not a lack of games but that it has the wrong kind of games. There really aren't very many games on the Vita that take advantage of the fact that it is a handheld system. Most would play just as well, or better, on the PS3 or PS4. It also lacks any significant handheld-only franchises.

I think this is why Nintendo really shines with portables. They have AAA franchises that don't appear on their other systems. Plus they take advantage of the system's mobile nature through things like StreetPass.

Except I've found streetpass 100% useless.

Completely agree with you. There are so many franchises people buy their handhelds for, namely Pokemon, Legend of Zelda, Mario, Mario Kart, etc.

don't say wii u is rushed and ps4/xbox one aren't, damn there are minimal good games out.

Umm they've been out a hell of a lot less time. Plus the PS4 has already eclipsed WiiU sales in a matter of months. At least with the PS4 and Xbone you get all the great third party releases in between the great first party games. Can't say that about the WiiU. Sucks because I really wish they would have succeeded but unfortunately they've stuck to their old ways and it just isn't working out anymore.

For a short while I was considering the PS4 then decided not to, now I'm considering again for the Madden and NHL series (I heard EA were going to stop producing those, but seems the easports sites has Madden 15 and NHL 15 on them) and of course Gran Torismo. I loved Forza 2 & 3 on the 360 but Forza 4 put me off due to it being very heavily DLC centric and have no interest in Forza 5 so the X1 isn't even a consideration.

Also being able to play Planetside 2 on the PS4 too, I play it on PC although one of the servers I have characters on is very toxic and SOE was supposed to add server transfers but now it disappeared off the roadmap.

I'd wait if I were you. Those games are a way's away from now and there aren't many games in the library obviously.

LOL. They may need to get some more games out though. Otherwise they will have given away the entire catalog by the end of the year.
