A few Best Buys near me had some yesterday, but they were gone by the time I was able to get out there. I actually saw one in the case at Target in January but that was before I was ready to get one. I just need to get one before Infamous comes out so I have some time, but it's surprising how hard they are to find still.

Haha, yeah, it's a bit of a game drought until late March... and to be perfectly honest, I won't be using my PS4 much until after April 14th.

i still am asking do you seriously think the PS4 is creaming the X1 right now, tell me the games. why does the "console wars" concept exist between adults?

i'm saying who gives a flying crap what console is selling or not right now?

Because we like to wave our ePenises around at each other.

It's not. Some people don't have the time or inclination to purchase 2 consoles that base between them costs over $900 just for the base. And for the couple asshats that are like "I can afford both" it's not anything to do with affording, its just a choice of time vs value. While there may be a few who have no worries (because obviously you can spend as much time as one can playing games) not everyone out there can. One console is always going to be sitting. No different than deciding to get a game on PC or console. (but at least with the PC it can be doing other useful things).

Therefore, which console is the predominant console IS of note. The thing that people forget though is even 1 game can change that if it is the right game. There also used to be a style difference. There used to be an actual reason to purchase one console over another or even a PC. Different consoles had a different game direction/style attached to them. And think about PC games, they were a completely different style as well.

I think starting with the 360/PS3 that kind of went away and with this latest batch of PC wannabes, it's gone completely they all have the exact same games short of a few exclusives, that look more or less like every other game out there then they are ported to PC. There is so little diversity that it pretty much comes down to "which looks/performs best" most of the time. Or...if your friends are lazy slob gamers too, then who all has them so you can play with them.

(and no offense to all the lazy slob gamers out there 😀 )

VC&G is full of idiots arguing the same thing (not that there are any here, I haven't followed the discussion). Fanboys will be fanboys.

It's XBone or XBox720p. X1 is a Comcast Xfinity product. :colbert:

😛

Because later, when the consoles have been out for 3 years...the system with the highest install base has the better chance to get certain games and have a bigger online community. So people not buying one yet and who are sitting on the fence at the moment are looking at which console will have more people to play with etc.

Exactly, it's not a hard to grasp concept. Look at the Nintendo WiiU. 3rd party development is non-existent. The bigger the install base the more likelihood for bigger sales and bigger profits.

Holy crap. Costco in Mountain View has about 15 of them on the pallet for $490. They come with a second controller and a year of PSN+ for the extra cost.

but i thought you can't find ps3's in stores still!!??!?

realistically that deal is like a $10 savings, not that great. psn can be found for $40 pretty easily.

To be fair, the same thing can be said for lots of stuff. I have two cars, but we rarely use the second one. We have several TV's in our house and some of them sit without being touched. There's nothing wrong with owning both consoles, even if one sits there collecting dust most days of the week.

That Costco pic is surprising. Controller alone is $64-66 after tax, add a year of PSN and that's about $110-115. $489 for all that is a damn good deal.

At my local Costco, there is a MOUNTAIN of XB1's. Just the console was $479.99, so about $20 off normal pricing. I went to Costco again about a week later and the mountain of XB1's still existed. No one is buying them in the Tucson area.

Every single time I go to any store that carries consoles, PS4 stock is basically non-existent (including accessories) while the XB1 stock is very plentiful. People love Sony in Tucson apparently?

No one is buying them at Costco because they are behind a paywall. Gamers hate things being behind paywalls.

Is costco like BJ's. We have a BJ's here and its free to go in and become a member for a month or some time. If one wanted to they could go in just to get a deal on something assuming they have the same membership rules.

Well I hope you aren't paying for them, that could get you in trouble with the law.

I don't have any memberships. I've been in there before and they allow non members in to make purchases as long as you sign up and they were offering free membership for a month or so.

I was in there with my gf's dad because he wanted to look at tv's. I never buy anything at those stores.

They say if you have to explain a joke it isn't funny, so I am just hoping it went over your head.

On your original question, I don't think Costco or Sams club allows you to actually buy anything without a membership. But if you had one, that would be a pretty good deal to jump on.

I remembered a post from someone else a while back saying, if you had a Costco gift card, you didn't need to be a member to shop inside.

Well, they call it a Cash Card and only members can load or reload it.
