Meh, just get a Costco membership. Worth it for their meat alone. Eating grocery store beef just makes me sad now.

My Costo membership last year got $1. Executive member and my reward check was for $109. :colbert:

Love their meat selection too. I don't care if they're injected or whatever, but the $6 chicken is an amazing deal.

Out of curiosity, why was the PS4 release so delayed in Japan?

IIRC, the official reason was that Sony didn't think there were any titles that were appealing to the Japanese audience.

Edit: They did 320k units in the first two days in Japan. Not bad. Going to be passing 6 mill pretty soon.

As was already mentioned, the Japanese delay really does boil down to less competition. The Xbox brand has never been popular there. It's an American console that caters almost exclusively to American gamers. That's where the vast majority of its sales come from. The Japanese tend to be very loyal to domestic platforms. They could launch the PS4 there three years from now and it would probably still sell like hot cakes.

Of course Microsoft wants to break into Europe, where Sony also dominates. So there's hot competition for that market. Sony also wants to dominate America again, like it did back in the PS2 days. Of course there was no domestic console at the time. So it's a tougher battle.

It's far better quality than what you get in the grocery stores. Most of that stuff is cut too thin, is tough like shoe leather, and has no taste. We get a whole side of beef and cut it into steaks ourselves. Works out cheaper too.

It's happening, and it's ugly as hell.

Look at VgChartz.com sales records.

Just in the US it's bad enough. The new Lego game sold something like 35k on PS4, 22k on WiiU, and 18k on XB1. Tomb Raider was even worse, about 3 to 1 in favor of PS4. The console sales are tilted towards PS4 as well.

And that's the BEST region for the XB1. In the UK the XB1 is getting punked, and in Europe it's getting DESTROYED. 5 to 1 all the way to 10 to 1 depending on country.

Microsoft needs to go into emergency mode to stand a chance. Momentum is going to crush them if they don't.

The PS4 is outselling the One at the moment but I don't get any of this over the top borderline fud worrying. The Xbox One is selling faster than any console in history *except* the PS4. It is at well over 4 million units.

No, it's not at over 4 million units.

5.4M vs. 3.5M with the gap only widening, or XB1 is currently only ~64% of the PS4 installed base, with sales slowing, and some multiplatform titles selling less than half of the PS4 version in the US, which is supposed to be the stronghold of XB1.

If anything, the numbers make it look like the die-hard Xbox fans bought theirs for the holidays, and the demand is softening up.

That's still really fast for a console...

While I share your enthusiasm for PS4 and detest what MS has come to represent being in bed with the EA+Activision business model, a Lego game isn't exactly the Xbox target market. The CoD Halo Gears dudebro crowd isn't exactly lining up for anything that isn't some testosterone dripping "mad tyte" realistic shooter, so using a Lego platformer or JRPG to show poor sales on XBO isn't exactly fair.

I really hope that crowd stays on xbox.

Well seeing how the shooters sold more on the ps4, I am guessing you guys will get some bleeding over of these dude bro players.

I think for the most part both consoles have the same games so according to shooters, cod and bf4. Since ps4 sold more it would make sense more shooters sold for that system. Just about everyone I know who got one, all have the same games since the selection on either system is scarce now.

I agree, I just find it funny that people still think that only dude bro gamers get a Xbox. There are "dude bro" gamers on both consoles. In fact, I went from playing BF last night to realm reborn. Many shooter gamers also play other stuff.

The thing about that is that it's selling 2 to 1 360 vs PS3 though. So demographic gap doesn't explain that.

PS3 was like 48k, 360 96k. That's wider than the install base gap in the US.

Haha true. Ghosts and BF4 sold higher even than market % on PS4. Wouldn't it be weird if basically everything was flipped this gen? 360 really was the testosterone console last time. It looks like that crowd might have defected in fairly large numbers.

The 360 was just a better console all around. I think most would prefer the 360 controller to the PS3 controller which IMO is a huge benefit.

The improvements to the DS4 though are really noticeable, it makes it much less of a concern for me at least. That narrows the comparison more to the user experience of the console itself.

I've been hard on my two DS4s and they've held up. Lucky me eh?

I've been through two DS3 and 4 Xbox 360 controllers just simply due to wear and tear though in the past.

I've had one ds3 that's lasted until I got the ps4. That ds3 is on its way out. Funny how its so light and plastic like but lasted. My ds4 is fine just acts wonky sometimes. Battery life sucks I need to charge every other day or so.

My PS4 battery wears out quickly due to my netflix time since it's always on and I have no other way to control the system.

That sounds like it's worth a gen 4.5 on the controller imho. Also better power management.

That's something that gets left out of the discussions for the most part, but I'm sure it will get more airtime as electric rates spike. We're forecast to more than double the national average electric rates over the next 24 months, and the always-on extra boxes/passthroughs may start to be something to think about in the long run.

I have no doubt that revised PS4/XB1 models with more consolidation and improved process technology will really help things along though. As it is, I remember seeing kill-a-watt readings from the wall, and XB1 pulls more than even a desktop PC with a 7770 (gaming vs. gaming). Some of that is almost certainly due to the AMD CPU vs. an Intel one.
