Has anyone run into the issue of pause not working when watching a movie? I've had this happen twice now (two different movies); I press the X and nothing happens, yet all of the other buttons work. Then when I go into the button mapping screen it shows pause, but it does not have a line going anywhere like all of the other buttons do.

Anyone else or just me? It's very annoying.

i haven't noticed that myself, but i've only watched 1 bluray.

after using both the x1 and ps4 to watch a bluray, i'm going to keep my stand alone player around even when they have 3d enabled on them. the standalone is just better all around, interface wise. it loads up quicker and the experience with control is just better on it.

Just had NBA 2k14 lock up on me trying to play a game online. I couldn't even get into the game it just froze up and I had to hold the PS button and close the application

Yeah I think I'll be the same way. I don't fancy yelling "xbox pause" at it so that's no benefit, the PS4 loads slower, and I've noticed some minor sync issues with the XB1 software after rewinding or fast forwarding through a scene. The quality is on par as far as I can really tell with my stand alone player with both the PS4 and XB1 but I won't need to replace my receiver to do 3D. In the living room I have a 4k upscaling receiver etc. that can pass the 3D. In the room I now have my consoles in I have to use a Blu-Ray player with dual HDMI so I can output 3D to the TV and convert the lossless audio to LPCM to send to my receiver which is an older Onkyo model that cannot pass the 3D through.

I had that happen once too. It fixed itself after I did a complete shutdown (not standby) and powered back up.

When I can get my gf off the tv haha

Sounds like you ought to ask Santa for a Vita so you can use remote play! 😉

I've only watched one Blu-Ray so far, but I was able to pause it each time without a problem.

I'm also tempted to just use my HTPC for Blu-Rays since I own Total Media Theater 6, and that means I can finally watch 3D movies again!

I only tried a Bluray on it once but I don't recall not being able to pause. I still prefer to use the PS3 as my main BD player though. It handles media far better in general, and I have the proper remote for it.

You guys need to watch more movies so I have a bigger sample size! 😀

I've watched about a dozen or so, but only two of them have given me trouble.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback. I'll have to keep my eye on this issue.

I watch a ton of movies but not on my consoles necessarily outside of Netflix which I have for free for a year. When I bought my TV Sony gave me a free year of Netflix.

I watch a ton of movies and I'd say about 98% of them (honestly) are streamed in one way or another.

If you don't mind me asking what movies gave you trouble? I've got a decent stack of blu rays and ill try the movies if I have the ones that gave you issues.
I stream most of my stuff thru Netflix and amazon instant video tho.

dunno if it is the same deal on PS4 but on my PS3 I've noticed sometimes I press X to pause, other times if that's not working then Start is the way to go.

The one yesterday was the Frances Ha Criterion Blu. I can't recall the previous one unfortunately.

No worries though, I will just make sure to write down any discs that give me trouble going forward. Thanks for the offer.

Tried the Options button on the PS4, but it just brings up a menu.

haha oh right no more Start... all out of ideas then. I hope that's a bug that a firmware update or something fixes as I'll want reliable blu ray functionality when I get my PS4 at some point

I had some issues getting to buy PSN through the console, I had to go to the website.

But I couldn't add cash to my wallet from PSN on the internet, so I had to add it from the console.

WTF.

lol

It's quirky sometimes. Last night I entered a psn plus code and it froze for a bit then proceeded to activate it.

Could be due to a large number of consoles trying to log on. I'm sure a few people who bought them for xmas are setting them up so they're ready to go before the big day. Mind you PSN has never been lightning fast at the best of times.

I'm having a blast with killzone MP so far. Support is the class to use if all you care about is overall score. All you have to do is drop a spawn beacon close to enemy spawn areas and you can get all kinds of assist points for doing nothing. Then, during fights, just spam cover fire from the back to get assist or clean up kills. Finally, revive, each revive gets you 100 pts. It's not uncommon for me to get 5-6000 points every time I use the Support class.

I'm working on Scout class now, that is a much harder class to get points/kills with. That class takes some finesse.

As for Assault, I don't like the initial guns, so I'm passing on it until I get my Scout class Trophy.

What advantage do you gain from points? Do you get different weapons or abilities like in BF for every x amount of points?

The points help advance the class you're playing to unlock additional gun add on's or weapons in general.
