I'm not looking for anyone's approval, I'm pushing technology. The 720p vs 1080p discussion is hilarious to me. You're buying TVs that cost more, and are smaller. Most enthusiasts are talking about 4K resolution now.

To try and communicate how stupid the 720p vs 1080p argument is, what if I told you that it seems like you're talking about a 10" screen vs a 13" screen and discussing the merits of resolution. Resolution matters, but in such a small device you need a retina-type jump to see clarity.

Higher resolutions are meant for larger screens.

Won a 3D projector in a contest from Projector People, lol. Had to do something with it, otherwise yes I just had one projector used for movies (2.35 movies only).

No...most people who know what they are talking know that 4k has no content and is a complete waste of time until there is content and HDMI 2.0. When you start using 4k for gaming and are limited to 30hz because of current hdmi specs, it is a joke. You are just bragging and trying to look hardcore on the internet. Do you ever think that some people live in a home where the main viewing area won't handle projectors and 80" TVs? Noyou dont because you are still acting like a child.

There are several 4K projectors and screen technology already out. You are not an enthusiast so it's OK, but I'm trying to explain to you the 720p vs 1080p debate and how you need a large screen to see the reason why resolution is needed. you're playing games with a 50" TV sitting 3 ft away from it looking for the difference.

At some seating distance a 20/20 eye cannot differ between resolutions. With a TV, most people are very far away from that distance. a 720p projector looks the same as a 1080p projector when you've inappropriately set up your environment.

It doesn't sound that bad, I do have fabric frames lining the room for sound reflections. It's better than most other people's rooms (i.e. most people don't attenuate for first reflections). It was just a toy room anyway since I won that projector, hah.

I already said way back in the thread before you crapped it up with your garbage about "please stop playing on a TV waa, waa.". Certain sizes of TV almost require that you sit a certain distance to fill your view and get the details of the picture. Sitting 14 feet from a 42" TV doesn't help.

As I said before many people cannot install a projector because of the layout of the house. You act as if anyone who cant use a projector is dumb. You never once stopped to think about anything you said.

Says the guy who thinks any typical projector zoom lens would actually be able to focus at all at 3 feet ...

You're a newbie to projectors, we get it. Some of us here discovered this years ago and are running far more expensive and painstakingly set up and calibrated gear than your budget beamer. Chill already.

😱 ...never been a huge fan of those combo devices. I just upgraded from my older Netgear WNDR3700, which was a pretty good router overall. I had very little trouble with it, but it was always a gamble whether Netgear's latest firmware was worth flashing. I think I'm using an older firmware that had less reported connectivity problems (note: I don't have any), but the Attached Devices section never works.

I'm currently using The Nighthawk. (I just like saying that. I'm also waiting for it to mess up so I can say, "Nighthawk down!" :biggrin🙂 Anyway, routers like that are probably overkill. Although, I am a fan of external antennas as they should provide better coverage (kind of like how they were better on cellphones).

Your best bet would probably just be to wait about a week for some good Black Friday deals on Newegg or Amazon. Also, keep your eyes peeled for anything good on sale leading up to it. I'd probably look for a good, quality 802.11n router, but just don't skimp on it. It's rare for me to pay below $100 and get a good router (unless it's on sale). Unless we're talking about the old Linksys WRT54G. 😛

The cost for me to setup a passive 3D-capable projector setup combined with being in an apartment makes a projector a terrible idea.

That depends a lot on the aim of the game. If a game is going for realism, then increased graphical prowess, which can affect more than just resolution, can be quite the advantage. Frankly, I would really have liked to see Dead Rising 3 on the PS4 just to see if the increased power would've given the game the grunt it needed to not suffer from slowdowns and maybe just be a bit prettier.

How is having a projector bragging when, by his own admission (and facts), that they are cheaper or at least on par as far as cost? If you own a flat screen, you have equal opportunity most likely. Just takes some dedication to get it set up right.

You may not be able to get 140" or whatever, but you should be able to get bigger for similar cost or cheaper.

The one caveat is whether or not you already have a sound system. That's the only additional cost I can think you might incur, but I have that for my TV too. So really, at most he's bragging about his sound system 😛

It's a short throw. You can get some of them for $150 or less even.

Sorry, never paid attention to budget models designed for apartments and dorms.

And 80" at three feet? Either the projector is in the middle of the view area or you have so much lens shift that you have blue and red misconvergence all over the place from chroma aberration from that throw away non aspheric lens.

How about the fact that many people dont have a room with no windows and doesn't feel like blacking them out just for that purpose? I live in FL and I like to get a little bit of natural light in the room

Has anyone played co-op Resogun yet? I have not tried it, but was playing single player last night and thought a co-op game might be fun, if a bit nuts. Just wondering if anyone has tried it out yet.
