Next gen media format for 4K won't be mechanical, supposed to be 256 GB flash/mask rom cards the size of SD cards or something. I can't wait.

LOL. I think sometimes a few people forget many are married...and well...there's a give and take when it comes to certain things. My wife LET me get a 70" TV..but she won't let me move the couch closer to it :(

I'm not single and well, I designed the room to accommodate a 60" plasma and 7.1 system. I don't have the room to go much bigger than 65" because of the way they designed the homes in my neighborhood.

Oh noes, what did our ancestors do on their measly 27" color CRT's? Put the couch 14" away from the TV?

You're missing the point of the THX specifications here. They are there because when viewing HD content you need to sit closer than you'd think in order to get the cinematic experience and fill your field of vision in order to see the details. If you sit so far back everything is so small and of course you can't tell the difference.

Eliminate load times too which is fine by me.

lol i "surprised" my wife with my projector by setting it on a table and projecting it on the wall of my basement before i had done anything to it. she was pissed at first but she thought it was so badass at the same time. once she found out it was $3k that didn't help.

oh and this was before we even had dressers lol.

I hope OLED hits mainstream soon, and then gets a bump to 4k, before the next wave of consoles hits.

Right now, when I'm playing a game like Battlefield 3, on a high end PC with a high resolution monitor, I can look into the distance, and there's a lot less noticeable aliasing going on, and it's a clearer picture. Especially in motion.... Which, helps to take out those pesky snipers! (or just shoot birds in Crysis 1 or something).

I think that the difference between native 720p and 1080p is definitely noticeable, and it irritates me when people say they can't see it (are you friggin blind?)... which was a big factor in my purchasing a PS4 vs an Xbox One.

Moving to 4k, it's going to be really nice. Less aggressive AA methods are needed to get a smooth picture at higher resolutions. 4K is going to be a great thing for us gamers. Eventually.

But for right now? Right now, I would just like to have a quality LED backlit TV with localized dimming.

50" at 10'??? a 50" TV is meant to be viewed from 5-7.5 feet

Check here http://www.thx.com/consumer/home-entertainment/home-theater/hdtv-set-up/

you know i used to have a 50" and i always sat 10 feet from it

one day i moved a chair to 6 feet just to see what I thought. what i thought was this

"who in their right fucking mind sits this close to their fing TV?"

i now have a 60 and sit in the same place

the TV downstairs is a 55 and i think the main seat is like 14 feet from it. might be more

That's way too far for me...you're viewing the picture as if you're looking at a frame instead of letting it fill your vision and immerse in that picture. When I sit too far I can't see the details and that's pretty important to me, especially in games.

Going to try something. Weird thing is, Netflix on the PS4 is perfect, just game loads are fricking slow.

Does PS4 do some sort of call home check as a DRM that we are not aware of? Or have you not finished d/l'ing the games?

This current patch download is taking forever. What is going on?

I am using WI-fi. Does running a cable make a difference? My PS4 is about six feet from my router.

How do you set the dmz? I had the 1.51 update on a usb since I changed my hard drive today. The game downloads and updates weren't as slow as before but still a bit slower than I've seen them go on the ps3. Weird that many others have this issue as well.

This is pretty sad IMO. New system and people still buy the same old stuff. CoD is the best selling game on PS4 and from what I've read, the game is the highest pre-ordered game on the XB1. Finally get the full BF4 experience and games that look as good as Killzone and they still want CoD. lol

It doesn't help that there are so few AAA titles available at release. I'm certain even the less desirable games are enjoying strong sales. Console players love their shooters, and there are very few right now on the PS4.

That would be too long of a cable. Must go wireless.

It is wireless because the router is filled. I would have to unplug something and run a wire which requires work.

I changed it to a wired connection and it is still slow.

Launch line ups will be packed with safe games, and both Call of Duty and Battlefield are very stable franchises. People like to embrace the familiar. It's a new system but they know exactly what they're getting with it. Besides, I think a lot of folks in the gaming community underestimate how many CoD Bros there are out there.

Must be their network. They must not be pushing out the same speed to everyone. Usually with a wired connection it should be as quick as downloading from your computer. Was there an article out there where foxconn hired graduate students to work on the assembly line? Someone told me they were pissed and put lead in the thermal paste...couldn't that cause issues with standby mode since the fan is still on?

There are three primary shooters for this release and yeah I agree that people want to be familiar with what they are going to be playing with a new console. I think AC looks great after the 1080 patch.
To be honest I'm having a much easier time playing battlefield 4 vs cod online. I don't get spawn killed, I don't get instakilled as round the corner with my sights on, etc. For some reason bf4 is easier to play online. I've never died as fast as I have in ghosts.
