My guess is they're holding a lot of the games back because they figure people won't look through a list of thousands of games. By releasing them weekly or monthly they'll probably sell more.

But if they only do 10 a month I'll be REALLY disappointed.

or we wait for someone to release "the Nintendo Emulator Channel" and just load up all the roms you can find :)

Just to start Im not a fan of any one console, just the one that is the best for my money at the time. But I just read a locked thread on the wiimote and got me thinking. It is stolen technology from Sony
Back in 97 I had a top of the line Sony HT Receiver that had all of its controls done on the tv screen and you used a egg shaped controller with a button that was heat sensitive, with a strip bar for the remote pick up. You wave this remote around and the little hand on the screen moved with your hand movements and when you taped the button on the remote it did the same on screen to turn the volume up and down, and all the other features of the stereo. So really this isnt anything new and Sony had it out before anyone else did almost 10 years ago. IF I can find the Unit on google I will update.

It was the Sony STR-G3. Cant seem to find a review on it but that was the unit with the same kind of controller the Wii sorta uses.

And Nintendo had the Power Glove way back when that also detected and interpreted (rather poorly though) the motions of the device. I also remember someone saying that Microsoft had some controllers for the computer that were similar as well. The whole idea is not new, it's just that Nintendo finally sat down and decided that the technology was advanced enough that we can now create an entire system around it.

You & Sony lose. ;) Seems like ripping off ideas isn't a new concept from Sony.

edit: And it seems that attempting to post while working at the same time has put me 15 minutes behind. But I have a link. ;)

Hmm....the Wii does look fun....fun for breaking TV's. Seriously, how does one not do better QC on such an item?

Probably didn't take into account how much more wildly people will flail about in their homes as compared to a controlled testing environment where they know they are being watched.

Ok, so I've only played the Wii for maybe an hour or two. Nothing extensive.

When people are launching the Wiimotes into their TV's, is it necessary to be swinging it THAT hard? Or are they just overdoing it?

I never swung it hard enough to damage something, and it played fine..

Anyone have problems connecting to their wireless router? My Wii sees the router SSID, but can't connect to it. I turned off all the security and still nothing. I think its pretty lame that they make you have wireless and charge extra for the part to use direct connect.

Although with all the stories going around of Wiiconnect24 killing people's Wiis, maybe I don't want it to connect.

Guess I forgot to think about that :) But if I have kids, no chance in hell are they going to be swinging stuff at my HDTV ;)

Yes I am having problems still. Its completely hit and miss, I can test the connection or reconfigure it just fine but when I try to hit the shop it doesnt work. Seems like my connection is predetermined whenever I turn on the Wii. My wireless is about 6 feet from me and wide open atm.

I looked at the Nintendo support page and it had some troubleshooting for connecting to your wireless network. It said to try changing to channel 1 or 11.

Edit: actually, I think they are just referring to slow downloads or errors while downloading.

connects to mine fine using WEP (i have it on WEP for my DS Lite). It wouldn't take the ascii password, but the hex worked fine.

Several of us did, yes. I had the same issue, it could see my SSID, but when I would try to connect I would get that error 52100 (or maybe 51200? I forget). What I had to do was manually enter the IP, gateway, and DNS servers (I left the MTU value alone) and then it connected just fine. As for WiiConnect24, I've had it on the past couple of days with no issues. It seems to be working properly.

Now back to the broken TVs... How hard are these people slinging these things!?!? Granted, I nearly threw out my arm playing bowling, but the pictures I've seen (like at Engadget) show they also broke the strap. So that means they had to be swinging the Wiimote hard enough that it slipped their grasp, broke the strap, and then still had enough momentum to break the TV. That's pretty damn hard. I don't even use the strap

No problem with my Netgear router, I was able to download update and surf the game store on the first try. Easier than Windows.

That's because the eBay prices have died down, and only a few people in that thread bought one to play, so they have nothing to talk about. ;)

:p Exactly.

I was telling a friend about it today, who doesnt really play games...he had heard a little bit about it. I told him about the controllers etc, and he thought it sounded like fun. Then I told him it was only $250, and he was ready to get one. Told him it actually came packed with the sports game, and he begged me to stop talking about it cause he wanted it so bad. :p

The word of mouth advertising is going to go a very long way. Once people play it, they're totally convinced. This might be crossing over into fanboyism, but I'm thinking this system is going to reach a sort of ipod cult status before long.

When people are launching the Wiimotes into their TV's, is it necessary to be swinging it THAT hard? Or are they just overdoing it?

They're totally overdoing it..you could flick your wrists from the couch. But it is a million times more fun to stand up and try and smack one out of the park. Besides, it's actually a good workout.

The carrot juice game in rayman gets my vote for the most physically strenuous video game ever created. It's like a total feat of strength and endurance. I don't think theres a person in the world that can go 2 minutes without their arm going totally numb.
