TBH i had no idea people loved KI as much as they do

it is kind of a love/hate group of people. a lot of the hardcore guys back then hated it because the combo system was so basic and everyone was very similar control wise as far as basic attacks go. and to be honest, the game did not age well at all. i played it somewhat recently and it's not that good at all.

and then we had ki2/gold that was kind of a travesty compared to ki1, although i liked ki2 too. but i think ki2 left a bad taste and people who loved part 1 wanted to get that feeling back again.

ki did really influence the genre as far as long combos go though.

Yeah this. I never really got into it; felt far too clunky to me, of course I bleed Ryu & Ken, so that may have something to do with it.

Well I think we basically got some confirmation that the PS4 will be cheaper

Bastards are quick with noticing the parody part. It's a funny account to read though when you are bored.

Aren't there going to be two ps4 versions again? I'd guess 379/449 price points if we're lucky but probably 499 for the deluxe.

I'll pre-order both from Amazon and then wait till mid November to decide on which, if either, to keep.

i knew where it came from and i remember playing the game on the SNES or 64 i just didnt realize peopel were jonzing for it like crack

Oh god you only played the terrible SNES or 64 port? I am sooo sorry.

SNES and 64 port of KI is like playing MKII on Gameboy, Srsly.

N64 was capable of being arcade perfect but was hamstrung severely by cart space and <4k texture cache.

I liked Killer Instinct but lets look at some things honestly.

Most gamers nowadays haven't even played the original, the game while good was a bit clunky at times, and most importantly, Rare hasn't put out anything good since they have been with MS.

Fighting games a niche genre still (despite its growth) and have become oversaturated again in a very short period of time in the last 2 years.

I don't think this has the kind of system seller power some believe it does imo.

I remember having lots of fun with Cinder at an arcade in Italy. Good times

I'd say 90,000+ people watching a tournament on the internet is pretty large. Sure, it isn't Call of Duty large, but growing at an exceptionally fast rate.

Don't get me wrong I love fighters but the sales aren't doing the same numbers as other genre s.

there is no 64 version of killer instinct. the snes version was bad too but was all we were stuck with back then.

Pissed me off the whole Ultra 64 thing, was supposed to be the same hardware. KI was supposed to be a demo of the actual soon to be released home console and not only was it not, but they never even released a proper KI 1 for home. SNES version might as well have been its own game called Micro Stick Fighters, it was terrible!

yea you are right, but to deny that fighters haven't made a huge comeback since the release of sf4 in 09 is just being in denial. it's growing very quickly and these tournaments are paying out tens of thousands of dollars now, with the streams being very professional and having tons and tons of sponsors as well.

but the general add audience that flocks to mainstream fps games can't play fighters for more than 5 minutes because they aren't "pwning n00bs" but are instead getting owned themselves and don't have the patience to try and get better at them.

not that there is anything wrong with that though. but yeah fighters are still pretty niche compared to other big genres.

on another note, i would have LOVED to see another burnout game rather than seeing forza 5.

KI Gold was basically KI2 on the 64 IIRC. It had a few other modes I think, but it was using the same engine.

i know, he said ki not ki2/gold.

that is why i just own an actual ki arcade game - it is arcade perfect!

to this day i still remember when i preordered DKC at toys r us, and you got a vhs tape that hyped up DKC. after the credits of that video they have a "secret video" of someone walking into an office and they open a door. you can see them playing killer instinct, on the actual n64. i was so fucking sad it never actually saw the 64 :(. hell on my actual arcade game while waiting for people to put quarters it says "available for your home on nintendo ultra 64 ..." or something like that.

Post Microsoft E3 Press reactions

Pros:
- Lots of games! It felt like I was hit by a rapid fire of games at one point!
- I am most interested in MGS5, Titanfall, The Witcher 3, Killer Instinct, Sunset Overdrive, Spark, Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct, Ryse and BF4.
- Releasing in November!
- Xbox Gold offering free games now!

Cons:
- Most of the games I want are coming to the PC or other consoles so it's not really a system seller for me.
- $499......I can stomach the price but I am pissed off that it's that high because of the Kinect 2. I won't use that crap....ever.
- Nothing on how the cloud will make the Xbox One 40x better.
- Nothing on the benefits of an online system as a consumer.
- F2P games hidden behind a Xbox Live Gold paywall LOL.

Other thoughts
At this point if Sony comes out and says "You can play used games on PS4" and they don't have the "Always online" then I will buy a PS4.

If they both follow the same garbage DRM shit then it comes down to exclusive games or .......the Wii U :( .

I don't mean to call you out in particular or anything but I think it's been highly amusing how polarized people have been with the Xbox.
People were PISSED at the Xbox One reveal because games weren't talked about too much.
People at now annoyed because E3 was all about games and didn't elaborate on features people were curious about during the xbox one reveal.

Just seems like people have straight ADHD and can't wait for all details when it's obvious we'll get a slow stream of details about both the Xbox One and PS4 to keep people interested until November. You'd be out of your mind to think that we would get full information now and then leave Sony or Microsoft with nothing to talk about for 5 months.

Expect a breadcrumb trail leading up to November so that gamers will continue to think about these consoles. It's what any smart PR person does.
