Yep, I agree that $499 is not going to be an easy sell. Have to see what Sony will do with the PS4. I glanced over the Xbox's conference and there's not much here to titillate me. Didn't plan on buying an Xbone anyway. Especially after the DRM fiasco last week. Lots of incremental games. Nothing really fresh and new feeling here.

Was dumb of Microsoft to schedule their conference during the WWDC. It's all Apple news on Twitter right now.

I know! Because you can't be a real gamer and like current games or popular ones. Thank you for always brightening up my day. You must be a hipster. Always championing the obscure and retro; putting down anyone who likes anything new or popular. You are probably some 22 year old who thinks because you bought an NES at a pawnshop a few years ago, you know about old school gaming and RPGs.

Lol. I tend to agree. I definitely like older games but I like some of the new stuff too...

Nope. Atari 2600 was in stores new when I started and I've kept everything. I have or have had everything from 2600 to 360/PS3 at some point. Yes that includes 3DO and Neo Geo.

I like modern games too but it takes more than realistic HD explosions and tits to sell me which is 90%+ of what's put out now.

Looking forward to The Last of Us more than I am anything MS is showing right now.

Oh I bought a 360 first this gen a year or two before PS3 even, Dead Rising was the first game I bought it for.

Yeah, I skipped watching the WWDC in favor of the MS E3 conference because I knew Apple would take the news and all the information would be put out there.

I wonder if they're going to let the $500 price tag sink in, then whip out the subscription model in a couple of months...or maybe delay it for a few months after launch since demand will be high regardless.

Post Microsoft E3 Press reactions

Pros:
- Lots of games! It felt like I was hit by a rapid fire of games at one point!
- I am most interested in MGS5, Titanfall, The Witcher 3, Killer Instinct, Sunset Overdrive, Spark, Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct, Ryse and BF4.
- Releasing in November!
- Xbox Gold offering free games now!

Cons:
- Most of the games I want are coming to the PC or other consoles so it's not really a system seller for me.
- $499......I can stomach the price but I am pissed off that it's that high because of the Kinect 2. I won't use that crap....ever.
- Nothing on how the cloud will make the Xbox One 40x better.
- Nothing on the benefits of an online system as a consumer.
- F2P games hidden behind a Xbox Live Gold paywall LOL.

Other thoughts
At this point if Sony comes out and says "You can play used games on PS4" and they don't have the "Always online" then I will buy a PS4.

If they both follow the same garbage DRM shit then it comes down to exclusive games or .......the Wii U :( .

Honestly, is there really anything Microsoft could've showed that wouldn't have made you think "quasi-pc crap"? I don't understand why you thought you would have gotten anything different.

You never know, they could have surprised me. While pretty much all the stuff that was touted prior immediately turned me off there could always be a hard sell.

However, I've never been one to drop $500 just to play one game that may or may not suck. The track record of the gaming industry is so sketchy and hit and miss these days, it's hard to get behind everything they are trying to throw at us. They spend more on marketing than the actual games.

I really don't expect the PS4 to be much different.

(and see my post a few posts back to what they could have said that would grab my attention).

I bet they will. I think $199 and two years of $24.99/month with gold membership would be the hit, bringing total out of pocket over two years at $800. People will gobble that up, though, because the poories don't look at the bigger picture. Or $99 up front and two years of $29.99/month.

Amazon pre-order is up for anyone wanting one

Was just going to post this, but I was busy preordering. lol
It's actually only $50 more than I planned. I figured It's really worth about $400 w/o Kinect, but I figured maybe they would say $450 w/ Kinect. Should have known they were going to say the Kinect is worth $100.

Plus did anyone else get unavailable service errors at Amazon around 2:20ish EST? That was in the middle of the time I started checking Amazon for the availablity of preorders. Was curious if they got flooded with people looking for it too.

Same. Don't know if I want one but I have some time to make up my mind without being charged.

i would actually purchase it from amazon too since i have prime. i don't have to pay 6% sales tax on a $500 item. i'll take that $30 to wait an extra few days for it and put it towards a game.

Killer Instinct is almost single handedly making me want Xbox even though everything else was just meh to me. I just need to see what Sony has in their corner.

did they mention at all if the x1 will even function without the kinect plugged into the console? it almost seems like they went a bit overboard with game info and like nothing on the hardware lol.

You honestly believe they'll try to get the cloud to power your video games? It's all just show and tell and to sell consoles based on promise. Getting the cloud to add extra power to your console gaming is extremely expensive. They won't do it. Notice how they only mentioned that it's theoretically possible.

6%? Consider yourself lucky. It is 10% here. =(

Pre-ordered with Prime and went ahead with the next day delivery. I swear, Amazon makes so much money on my. Rather than using the free 2 day shipping from Prime, I always use the Next day if I am ordering a single item. =(

Sony better have something up their sleeve for a game reveal because KI is huge.

Nice variety of games. Most of them were either games I'd play on PC or genres I don't care for on consoles, but I appreciate the effort. I despise the $500 price tag for mediocre hardware.

I was already planning on dropping at least $1000 in November. I just hope something else I want doesn't come out in that month.

And if they don't, Haswell is looking mighty tempting.

TBH i had no idea people loved KI as much as they do

It was a good fighting game in its day with the crazy combos and combo breakers. Having to remember those long ass combos was half the battle. I'm surprised it took this long for part three.
