I'm not sure if I am not following you correctly or you are not following me, so I apologize if I am trying to clear this up in the simplest way I can.
With the current online pass system. If say I buy Madden new and go play online, I have to use the online pass that came with my new copy. Now say I want to sell/give the game to my friend and he wants to play online. When he selects multiplayer it comes up with a screen saying input code or purchase an online pass for $10 right now through PSN/Live and it unlocks the multiplayer then for him. If you want to trade the game in, currently online passes do not increase or decrease trade in values for games so it doesn't matter either way.
With the X1, you buy a new game, if you want to sell/trade it to your friend that can only be done once , but he gets the entire game like he bought it new. If you want to trade the game in, you can only do it at select retailers that are able to do it.
I could be wrong, but that is at least how I remember reading it.
I don't know, I don't think the system has ever been really CLEARLY talked about. I think the fact is, MS doesn't even really know themselves and are waiting to see how far they can go and what Sony does.
Either way like I have said before, it's too early to pick a winner of next gen. Right now Sony is winning, but they're winning the 5% of gamers or so who are hardcore enough to watch E3. None of my friends who are the 95% of gamers are watching E3. My brother is a gamer but couldn't care less, my sister is, and doesn't care, pretty much every person in my fraternity has an xbox 360, and I can guarantee maybe only 2 of those 80 kids who own Xbox 360's and PS3s heard of this press conference.
Calling a winner now is silly. You can say "PS4 is currently winning!" but I wouldn't say it wins yet until September/October and even then, it's hard to say because most people don't do research.
Apple products should NEVER sell based on hardware, and their system being completely locked down, yet Apple marketing is godly. Tech nerds for the most part hate Apple, but the public loves it. So I can only pick a winner when we see how the marketing goes with the general public and not tech nerds.
