I always enjoy when once every couple of years, warcrow randomly shows up in a gaming thread. How do you do sir?

What's up Bv!

Things are going really well. Just had another lovely little daughter (3 weeks old) and I'm just cruising along with my blog. Trying out this streaming thing to see how it goes--so far so good! 🙂

How are things?

The reviews are coming in, and they are pretty great...

Joystiq: 4/5
IGN: 9/10
Shacknews 8/10
Gamesradar 4/5
EGM 7.5/10
Eurogamer: 9/10

From IGN.com

9.0 AMAZING
It's a racer informed by many others but, when it comes to open-world racing games, Forza Horizon 2 is best-in-class.

+ Hundreds of events and activities
+ Large, well-curated car roster
+ Excellent lighting and weather
+ Off-road racing is awesome
– Can’t turn off ugly liveries

yeah not concerned with reviews for this game at all, was getting it regardless cause the first one owned!

Hmm, I still have Forza 5 in its wrapper, got it free with my One. Thinking of exchanging for this, but I've never played any Forza other than Horizons 2 demo (which I liked). WWATD?

Forza 5 has emphasis on simulation track/lap racing. Horizon 2 has emphasis on more arcade-style driving in an open world. If you haven't played Forza 5 and enjoyed the Horizon 2 demo, then I say go with Horizon.

and you probably aren't going to get much for forza 5 in general, so don't think you are going to straight up trade it 1:1 for fh2.

I will still get $49.99 at Microsoft Store. Horizons is $59.99 with a $10 gift card, so it'll work out to an even trade.

That's not true at all, F5 is an incredible game. I'm going to guess that you've never actually played it.

That being said, FH2 is also incredible (presuming the demo is an honest indication).

Thanks guys, appreciate the info!

I think I'm kind of over the Gran Turismo-esque sim racing, and the FH2 demo was pretty fun. I'll be exchanging F5.

Forza 5 is a turd, definitely go with FH2.

So informative, even though it goes against nearly every review, rating, and player opinion. Yeah uhh thanks.

Really? Maybe you missed the backlash when it launched with far less content than the previous game had.

Anyways, looks like FH2 doesn't suffer from the same bad decisions, wise move by Microsoft.

I'm not sure I should really care about when it launched since I haven't played it yet.

Same as they always were, except I have a youngin' of my own...17 months now. She's the cutest kid there ever was. 😉

That's my gripe with Forza 5, but I expected it after seeing how Forza 4 turned out.

Pre-ordered this game from Bestbuy. Had some BB rewards, so ended up being $15. Also ended up picking up the VIP (discounted since I own F5 VIP), and season pass. This game seriously looks fantastic, and the first one was very fun. I can't wait for Tuesday. I wish I could take the day off but damn promotion!

From everything I have seen so far, it's looking like a far more fun experience than F5. I know they're two different styles of game, and I do love both. I think F5 feels a bit rushed since it was a launch title.

I was probably one of the biggest complainers about the cut content, but to equate quantity to quality is stupid. The gameplay is still top-notch or better (the rumble triggers are PHENOMENAL), the driving physics are still great, and they added a few more tracks later on (though the total is still a bit on the low side).

I think it'll depend a lot on your style of play. If you play solo, FM5 will be a better pure racing game to enjoy offline. If you like to play racing games with friends (or socially with strangers), FH2 will offer more mayhem and variety in gameplay, so it won't be a stale experience online after a bit.

so uh, did anyone else read that review and it said there are over 700 freaking missions?

that is RIDICULOUS (in a good way of course)!

it's not really that - it is more about enjoying pure sim vs a more arcadey style. i played a lot of fh1 and never once played online. it is cool though, that even though you play single player, you still "compete" against your friends. like the rivals or speed trap high scores will be your friends, so even though it's still single player, you are competing against your friends.

I freaking hate the controller vibration, especially when you drive off the road- thank god there's an option to turn it off.
