are you guys doing the auto upgrade or manually picking the top of the line stuff? i've just been doing the auto stuff just because it's quick and i don't care about the details. but i'm wondering if you can get it better by doing it manually.

It's actually the same except if you have a lower class car that can go up one or two tiers depending on the upgrades, you can have it upgrade for a specific class. For example a Corvette Stingray is a class A car right on the cusp of class S1. You can also upgrade it to an S2 car. So you can tell the game to automatically upgrade it to the max it can go in S1 or you can have it upgrade it to S2 class. It won't probably compete well in S2 against McLaren's, Ferrari's, and Lambos though.

Basically if you like a car you can have the game select upgrades to put that car in a specific class that is above stock. My P1 is class X right now. It starts off as a 998 S2 car so it didn't take much to max it out. I went ahead and added everything I could except the AWD conversion.

yeah i've had a couple cars that say they can't be upgraded to s2 but they still upgrade it as high as it can go i guess.

i've also found a few "invisible" walls. well actually just 1, which was lame. it was just a wall near a house you could not just drop off of. it was probably like a 20 foot "wall" or so until you could just drive down a hill around the wall.

it's fun to just drive in a straight line across fields for some of the road trips and stuff lol.

I've had the most fun roaming around and challenging drivatars. I've been hunting down the tougher ones that payout more. Beat a couple challenging ones that gave bonus credit and xp. It's cool to be driving and see them cut over onto another street for a shortcut or plow across a field trying to cut off the winding road.

Also like that the drivatars will often just cut over onto dirt roads, cut through a field, or otherwise take a path you wouldn't expect when you are roaming around outside an event.

yeah it's neat how you can be fucking around and drivatars are also fucking around with you. like when i was barn hunting i saw a bunch of them off road too.

i'm pretty surprised how short the "story" mode is though. only 15 championships until you unlock the horizon finale. i'm already 6 done and 40% to the horizon finale. granted, i bet the total % i'm done with the whole game is around 4 or 5 percent, so there is A LOT to the game. but on the road trip back to the 7th championship i'm already back in castelleto. like it just doesn't seem like there is a HUGE amount of variety since i've basically already been all over the world. well i mean i've been to all sections, but i only have discovered like 1/3 of the roads, so there is definitely more to explore.

some of the bucket lists are tough too. i couldn't get the one on the golf course. the one where you have to do 20 jumps is also pretty tough. i felt like i "hacked" my way to win it. like it wasn't fun, it was just finding this little pattern of 3 jumps in a row that i could keep repeating.

i did an online showdown tonight which was cool. they give head starts too based on classes, which i thought was a fair way to allow cars of all classes to race together in the case you wanted to do that. this was just from a random car meet where someone started a showdown and i joined.

i probably played for a total of like 3-4 hours today lol. game is addictive. i always find myself saying "oh i'll do tihs one last thing" and then do like 10 more things.

Lol I did the same thing on the jump challenge. Also cheesed the drift challenge in the corvette by doing random e-brake slides. I think I have almost 10 hours in the game and I haven't done anything. I didn't even do any of the Nice races yet. I will tackle those today and move on. The main road trip seems like it will be quick only because there aren't a whole lot of races at each stop.

I have to say that I am not a fan of the off road stuff. Even with the right car or truck it doesn't feel as good to me as racing the roads.

Oh and people on other forums are saying the dashboard preview has a media player that allows you to play your own music in games. I just wish it would do a custom radio station like GTA did on PC.

i'm on the flipside - i love the offroad racing. i think it's a lot of fun. i love doing huge drifts around corners and stuff. it's just a good change of pace and reminds me that this is far from a sim game heh.

Loving the first one I played the demo today. Game was fun for the off road stuff but I was never impressed on the road racing. I like the first one much more.

Graphics are amazing though. The music/racing mix they try to sell is stupid. Let me just put my own music on there.

Maybe the full retail game is better situated.

i'm not really sure what you mean by the first one feeling so different. this game seems like literally the exact same concept/design as the first game but with A LOT more stuff in it.

the cars control just like you would expect, both on and off, and the music/racing mix is pretty much identical to how it was in the first one as well.

I don't mind the music but the rock station they have in the beginning is terrible. The drum & bass stuff is good but there are two almost identical stations. It was crazy to drive the old Ferrari to Tchaikovsky though.

yeah i can see people not liking the music though, but at least there are a bunch of stations that unlock as you progress the game so there is a decent variety.

I dunno, to me FH2 feels different than FH1, FH1 was boring for me but FH2 is a lot of fun, can't put my finger on why FH1 didn't catch me but FH2 did.

Also just a question, how can you tell a difference from an actual player driving at the same time as you and isn't a drivatar?

The music can't possibly be worse than in Fifa. I swear EA licenses the worst possible tracks they can find for that game.

i dont think the online world and solo world are combined like that. if you are doing the solo mode, you will only see drivatars. and if you are in the online world, you won't see any solo missions. i think the car meetups are kind of the hub between these 2 worlds.

i think ... i'm not 100% sure about it to be honest. i haven't played much online but that was the gist i got from it. it's pretty similar to the way that burnout paradise was with it's seemless online integration. i could be totally wrong though lol.

also, i think the presentation in FH2 is better than it was in FH1. like just the way you start races, the sounds, the way they try to hype up everything - it's just done better imo. just from the very beginning with the intro to the game it tries to hype you up for the game, and then throws you into a lambo on a scenic route flying along the coast.

the game is geared towards the eurodance/trance/dance/dubstep crowd for the most part, as far as the music and theme of the game goes, so if you aren't into that, i can get not liking the music and presentation of the game at all outside of the racing elements. they do however have more stations you get as you progress that add some variety the music if that isn't your cup of tea. they even have like a classical french radio station lol.

played online tonight quite a bit, for like almost 3 hours. it was a pretty good experience overall. you earn A LOT more credits online than you do single player. same with leveling up. i went up like 7 levels. now that i think about it, mabye it's not much faster, but for some reason it felt like it.

there are a few things i don't like about online though. my buddy and i had problems with the "game party" and the "xbl party". like we had trouble communicating and finally it randomly started working.

also, i'm not a huge fan of the online modes. i want to just race. we kept getting into events (that are 4 races each) where some were king of the hill and extermination. both of those modes i have no desire to ever play, they are just not fun. i'd rather be able to say i just want to race with random people. you can do it privately, but not with randoms (at least not to my knowledge).

also, has anyone had controller connectivity issues with this game? i have a lot of random disconnects where it pauses mid-race, which is okay solo, but online it messes me up bad. i tried using my other controller and had the same issue. my xb1 is probably like 15ft from where i sit too so it's not like it is far away. i might just get the plug/charge kit so i don't have to worry about it though, since i already have an extension cable USB for my joystick.

EDIT:

also, for the rewards thing from the forza app thing, i found them tonight in game. in the menu when you pause it, i think it was the social tab, it had a few new messages for me, and 1 was the credits i redeemed from the rewards thing. and i had to click on it and press A to accept it. so i accepted it and got all of the credits. just a heads up if you hadn't gotten it.

also the amazon preorder bonus i got (ferrari california) was just 0 credits in the autoshow, it wasn't just added to my garage like i had expected.

I finally got my rewards. Also I have heard of many problems with the controller disconnecting. I wonder if it's a specific game issue. It hasn't happened to me yet.

I have been loving every moment in FH2. Easily one of the best games of the year for me. There are a few more I am anticipating in the next several weeks though.

However, I am getting a lot of crashes after game saves. (Hitting a XP or discount sign, challenge wins, etc.) The video freezes and the sounds stutters. Several seconds later, the same closes.

I got a lot of pauses last night. I have never seen anything like that on a console game. It will be going along and all the sudden freeze for 3 seconds and start up again. This makes me wreck or otherwise mess up.

Also how in the hell are people getting 270mph speed traps with the Ultima GTR? I can't for the life of me find any setup that will get there on the stretch of road that has these speeds posted. My top is 239 or something and I had to turn the aero all the way down so the car is squirly as can be plus the traffic. I just can't see how they did it. Plus it is odd. Fully upgraded the ultima gtr has a speed rating of about 8.0 while the p1 is above a 9 but the p1 can't hit as high a top speed. I don't get how the car ratings work.

yea i noticed the ultima gtr is the top of all the speed traps as well. i didn't purchase it yet. i had just purchased the veneno and got like 220 in a speed trap and thought i was high, then i saw that speed and was like wtf lol.

i'm guessing that the people who have those speeds are tuning the cars after having the upgrades maxed out. i personally don't know anything about tuning and don't mess with it, only upgrades.

i havent been experiencing any of the pauses you all are talking about. i wonder if it's a server issue, and i wasn't playing at all yesterday so maybe it started yesterday?

Could be server related. A lot of what happens in the game is transferred real time back and forth. I tried tuning the ultima gtr to see what I could do. The highest I could get it with the right combo of tire pressure, gear ratio, and aero was 267.4mph but I can't come close to that speed around traffic. Oh well, just an experiment. I still like my p1. Can't wait to get a veneno and upgrade it to compare.

I also drive the Ultima GTR, did you mess with the final gearing? I can get it to 271, fastest I've seen is 276 so I'm not far off.

when you guys are tuning the cars, do you actually know how to tune cars and know what they mean? or are there people on the net that are just posting their specs on how they get the cars that fast and they are just sharing them? i haven't even clicked on the tuning option once lol.
